My hair is white and I have burgandy stripes. I am almost 60, but not too wrinkled up yet. Love the reactions. The weirdest ones are from gals a bit older than me. "I have to ask - how DO you get that in your hair?" Uh, my stylist does it. "OH!" One just pointed and giggled. It was strange. I laughed with her, kind of afraid not to. The coolest thing is younger people. "I LIKE your hair!" is the usual, only it's kind of like they are surprised that they do! It's different and it lasts and lasts, thanks to the white hair, I guess. My kids like it (even the teen) and hubs loves it - it was his idea. That sounds beautiful. I would love to see a pic!

Never too old...I'm 42 and hit a point where I think, life's too short, if u want it do it, it can always be changed. Part of me is concerned about the color teal will fade to tho. ..
We are the same age. I have seen women older than us with color in their hair. I'm just not that brave. People already think I'm strange I guess I don't want to give them even more to talk about. You could do a few colored highlights underneath so you only see them if you pull your hair up.

Here is my current. I'm still not thinking I love it, pink might be coming back sooner rather than later! It's pretty, I love it. The brighter pink and purple seem to be more "you" though.

If you do your own colors, what brands do you use? My 16 year old daughter changes her color all the time, and has tried a lot of different brands. Some fade SO fast, some aren't true to color, etc.
I've only ever had my hair colored professionally. I am thinking about trying something totally new, and my daughter is trying to talk me into letting her do it. I am not sold on that!

About 8 years ago on crazy hair day at my son's elementary school I see a Mom with bursts of color in her hair. I'm like "what a great Mom doing crazy hair day". She looked at me stonily and commented that this was her regular hair style. I was so embarrassed. I just hadn't seen much of that before except with a few teenagers. Now I see it quite often and I really like the picture in the OP. The colors there are quite lovely.

This is my plan for my next hair appointment later this month. I like the hint of purple (which is my favorite color!). We shall see how this goes. Attachments:

I'm just here to show you what "pops of color" can turn into lol. my hair the last month- the atomic pink I used since Halloween lends itself nicely to purples and blues. as I wash and it fades, the pink keeps coming back thru so it's literally a new color blend twice a week. it's fun and since I'm dyeing over a variegated base, I don't have to bother with separating out my hair colors- I just dye one color or a blend of color over the whole head, like shampoo, and will automatically have highlights and lowlights. about a month ago, a dark blue and purple mix (over the previous hot pink) that had already faded out some.. and this is last Thursday showing how it faded out (that pink underneath never quits!) before I did a purple wash over it to a nice purple/pink raspberry blend that I haven't taken a pic of yet. I dye my hair every 3 weeks or so because I hate my blonde roots and I like different colors. it doesn't mean you would have to dye that often.

I've had colored hair (about half of it) for about 18 months now. I really like it, it's fun and different. I have been really dark brown/purple mostly, but I'm thinking about going back to blonde with hot pink. I miss my blonde hair.

forgot to mention, and then was called in a meeting.. the BEST place for ideas and finding out about alternative color dye is www.haircrazy.com/ . you can search by color to see what works on what hair, how long it lasts usually, etc. I have gotten THE best dye info there, and even tho a lot of it needs to be ordered on amazon form the UK, it's totally worth it. it was that site that led to to direction's turquoise dye which lasts for.ev.er without going green. before when I used manic panic, I would get blue for 2-3 days and then straight to green. I've even done blacklight-glo hair with info from them.
