And am gonna sit on my behind making cards all day tomorrow and Sunday! Don't know why I have resisted them for so long. I feel like it's a whole new ball game for me. I was in a rut and am now inspired!

I started out scrapping with templates then sketches, then free form. I still have the templates to fall back on when I can't think ... which is more and more often it seems. I started card making with sketches too.

Greeting Card Sketches?
I'm new to card making. I've been looking for inspiration for my cards, but have been concentrating on finding card examples I like.
So - there are card 'sketches' similar to scrapbook page sketches (like Becky Higgins used to make)? I always liked and appreciated sketches for inspiration.
Would anyone care to share good sources for finding card sketches?
TIA
Karen

The person I just found is kristie marcotte. Google her and you will see how she uses one 6x6 pad if paper to make oodles of cards.
She has some sketches on her blog.
Also my friend has a blog called felinecreative. She has sketches.
I am looking For a book but I prefer the sketches the have measurements.
So I'm looking. Will let you know of any other good ones I find.

I just started to turn to sketches. I have been card making for years before these were available - now I love these little maps. It makes my card making efficient, productive and fun. I can watch TV, do dishes and laundry and talk to the dog while making a card from a sketch. Google Operation Write Home and you will find tons of sketches that were posted for people making cards for the military personnel. They have measurements on them, and many show examples of cards made from that sketch. I always like to see how people altered the sketch a little depending on what they had or the color choices they made. I downloaded all of these sketches onto my computer. If you google card sketches, you will find a hand full of blogs that are nothing but sketch clubs. I love watching Kristie make cards - almost as much as making my own cards. Strangely I find her videos really relaxing. Here is her blog eponinekc.blogspot.com/ and she has links to a bunch of sketch blogs on the right side of her blog. I think she got me hooked on the sketches and 6x6 pads. Wish I had started out with sketches. Many of them are based on the principles of design so the cards are balanced, in visual harmony, and follow the design grid, etc. I think I'm learning how to create better layouts by using them. At least I'm not auditioning all the elements on a card and becoming overwhelmed with too many choices.

Would anyone care to share good sources for finding card sketches? My favorite place for sketches (she does layouts and cards) is pagemaps by Becky Fleck. I also have 2 of her books. There are tons of sketches, and archives going back to 2006. You can look at the PDF that shows each sketch then an actual sample card / layout next to it. You can also download the jpg version that shows all the sketches on one page. I used to print them out every month and keep them in a folder. Example:

Thanks everyone! Sketches seems a great option for someone like me that is really not very creative. Love the blog and Operation Write home options for ideas, janet100 . AussieMeg , the Card Maps are awesome! (I always wanted to use that word in a post. LOL) And Don, of course, Google is always a good and trusted friend. It is fun to see other favorite sources, though. Thanks again!

I also have the CTMH card sketches book and that has some fun and different ideas in it.

I got about 8 cards done on Sunday and I'm going to continue with it next weekend. THANKS!

Oh, wow. I've never really seen/noticed card sketches before, but looking at some of these links, I'm feeling quite inspired. I love Kristie's tutorial for using a 6x6 pad. I have a bag full of paper scraps that I might actually be able to turn into nice cards now. Yay! Thanks

Yesterday I made 20-odd cards from a single paper pad in one afternoon using Kristie's tutorial, as well as making another dozen or so more last week from my bag of paper scraps. Wow! It's so satisfying to use up a whole pad with almost no waste. Thanks for the rec.

I LOVE card sketches! I have a magazine that's all sketches with card samples by different designers using each sketch. The (self-imposed) "catch" is that I have to do them in order - no skipping sketches that look too hard or that simply don't "spark joy." LOL
Some of my favorite cards have come from those sketches I realllllllly didn't want to use. It's fun!
