Darwin Award contenders, for sure Teenagers making stupid decisions would flood the list. I reserve it for grown-ass adults who do even stupider things. maybe they need a Darwin Award, Junior Division

How tragic. As an adult, I see it as trespassing, stupid behavior. Unfortunately, teenage brains are not fully developed and don't always think through the consequences of their actions. I'm not excusing the behavior, just the reality of teenage brains. I wonder if some of the kids had ridden the track before and thought they knew what to expect, not knowing that gate would be closed. And was alcohol involved - with Alberta's drinking age being 18, I won't be surprised.I can't imagine the poor first responders coming on this scene. Was one of the kids able to make the 911 call? It sounds like neighbors didn't hear anything. My first thought was that these boys were probably drinking ... sad situation but they were responsible for their actions ...
