I have a Mazda Miata right now and will for at least another year or so. I LOVE my car and always said when it was time for a new car, I would replace it with the same thing, different color. The problem is, we are thinking we may get a second dog in the next year or so. DH has a Mustang. It easy for me to take the 50 lb pup in his car, but not in mine. I want to replace my car with an inexpensive, 4 seater convertible. I like the small, compact size of the Miata. It's perfect for just me or me and DH, just not dogs. I'd love to get another hard top, but the only other one is a VW EOS. We have had VW's in the past and will not be getting another due to original cost and maintenance costs. SO, I am starting to think about convertibles that are not hard tops. If you have one, what's the good, bad and ugly (besides their looks. )? Would the back seat be big enough for 2 dogs, one being 50 lbs and one bigger that 30 lbs, but smaller that 50 lbs?

My dad called his Fiat convertible "the big blue lemon." Maintenance was a huge issue.

DH is a car guy (and also currently drives a Mazda), and he would never consider a Fiat. He says they are maintenance nightmares.

Bummer. Thanks for the info! I really think they are ugly, too, LOL, but was hoping for an inexpensive 4 seater option.

I love my Subaru Impreza, Very safe, four door, sporty feel, and negotiated a very good deal with the dealer.

One of my co-workers has one of the new Fiats, and it is pretty cute. I'd consider it, except I don't think it gets the MPG I want.

I parked next to the most adorable orange fiat with white interior yesterday. It was the cutest car - I totally want one.

I have a Mini Cooper that I LOVE, and when one of my best friends rode in it she loved it so much that when she was ready for a new car she (and her sister for that matter!) bought one too. She has a convertible and loves it. In both the convertible and standard car the back seats don't have a ton of legroom but the actually seats are pretty roomy, so it might be an option to consider.
Hope that helped and have fun car shopping!

LOVE my Mini. I have the Countryman because I need four doors with my kids, but the convertible coupe looks adorable.
I don't know what constitutes a "maintenance nightmare" but Minis do require regular maintenance like any high performance car. We bought the maintenance plan so everything is covered and it's been well worth it. I bought my Mini pre-owned and we haven't had any problems with it so far. It has 60K miles on it.

I am thinking about a Mini as well as a Jeep. We discussed it last night, and I won't be getting one for at least a year. We are about to pay off MZ DAIZY, so we want to use that money to pay off other things first.

My BIL manages a mini dealership and everyone in sisters family has one and they love them. My mom got a Countryman because she wanted something bigger and she likes it. You really need to do the scheduled maintenance.

DH says that Fiat stands for "Fix It Again, Tony!" A colleague of mine has one, and it is the cutest thing ever - but you should see how often he ends up driving his wife's Honda to work.

Fiat = Fix it all the time!
I'd go Volkswagen before I'd buy a Fiat.
