I know that I'm not the only pea searching for hand and body creams that aren't goopy, sticky, or greasy. I also want products that don't take forever to be absorbed--I hate creams that make me feel like I have butterfingers for 10 minutes because the hand cream won't sink in, so I wind up wiping my hands on my pants or a napkin. I don't want products made of petroleum products--um, ewww. So many creams are also expensive or really fragranced. I also don't mind a little scent, but I hate my hands reeking of scent whenever I reach up to adjust my glasses or brush my bangs back. Here it is. Skin Fix ultra rich hand cream 3 ounces for $9.99! In comparison, the small tube of L'Occitane lavender shea butter is $12 for 1 ounce and $24 for 2.6 ounces. I can't detect any scent in the cream which is really nice. It's full of shea butter, coconut and sunflower oils, aloe leaf juice, chamomile, and calendula. Even though the cream is super rich, it isn't gunky and greasy. It took less than a minute to rub a nickel sized amount into my hands and up my elbows and forearms for it to absorb well. My local Target had this cream and others in the Skin Fix line in stock at my local store. I also bought their Skin Fix ultra rich body butter 8 oz for $14.99 My forearms have felt like alligator skin for a long time no matter how much I exfoliate and treat with oils and creams. I've put the body butter on once and also rubbed a bit of the hand cream on them when applying the hand cream 3 times, and my arms look and feel so much better! I do like lightly fragranced lotions, so I'm going to put a few drops of lavender oil into the tub of body butter. Target also had a few other Skin Fix products and everything was on the end cap where all their new products are displayed--the short, small rounded display shelves with the large poster and lights between their cosmetics and general drugstore hair care/lotions/razors/etc.

I used to rep for Perfectly Posh and I'm still hooked on their products. It's all I use. All natural ingredients that are really good for you. They use a lot of Shea butter in their skin creams. No icky stuff like parabens, SLS, paraffin and such. They're also made in the USA. See if you can find a local rep to give you some samples. I had the worst dry cracked feet forever until I started using Posh. Non-greasy, soak in great and smell wonderful without being overpowering.

I found some nice cream at Sephora in the First Aid Beauty line. Not sure of price because I was desperate for something and was thrilled that they worked.
I also got Kiss My Face body lotion online just to try it and I like it quite a bit.
I have chronic dry skin so I am always on the hunt for stuff that works without breaking the bank.

That's expensive (for my budget), but I may have to splurge on that. My hands get cracked with just one day under 50 degrees, so I need something good! If I don't put on hand lotion several times a day, they are a mess. Thumb cracks have been my biggest problem the past couple of years. I sleep with a aquaphor and a bandaid on both thumbs most every other night from Nov.-March and that helps a lot! Once the cracks start, I can't open things and it's a big inconvenience. And it's takes a while for my thumb cracks to heal, so I have to prevent them from cracking. I just read a few reviews, and other than the smell (that they say goes away), it got some great reviews!

TFS. My skinis a dream in the summer (humidity is good for something!) but I suffer in the winter, even mild winters we have here in the south. I'll be checking this out. I don't mind paying decent money for soft and comfortable winter skin.

Now I want to try this but I've been trying to use up a million bottles of lotion for a long time. And now I see there are only 4 let at "my" target!

I am somewhat body-products obsessed. I have a "work elbow," which is horrendous. You know, when you lean on your desk with an elbow and your skin gets all gross and dry. Also, my skin still felt tight, no matter how many fancy creams I bought. UNTIL,
I switched to 100% natural goat milk soap. I figured-I'm spending tons of money on body cream (and I am) but I need to take it a step before I get to the body cream stage-to get really soft skin. I decided to get away from sodium lauryl sulfate products to the extent that I can for personal hygiene. I am ASTOUNDED by the results all over my skin. OMG. I was skeptical of the claims I read only by people who were buying goat milk soaps, but let me tell you, I switched about a month ago AND I am a convert. The results on my skin have been incredible. Even my feet, hands, face and responded wonderfully.

I just stopped at ulta and got the foaming oil cleanser. Has anyone tried that? Their other products look good as well but not sure which is best for my skin and how they would play with other products. They were out of the hand cream so may try target.

Crap. I missed that. I think I was focusing on the aloe juice, coconut oil, etc. I know completely abstaining from petroleum products would be difficult, but I was really trying to find a product that was not chock full of petroleum and other weird chemicals. I've tried and tried so many plant based lotions and have had such a hard time finding ones that didn't cost an arm and a leg or wouldn't absorb into my skin.
I was close to just buying a big tub of vaseline. Nothing was working.

I would only use it at night on my hands, though, because it is fairly greasy. If the Skin fix works, I would ignore the petrolatum.

I was close to just buying a big tub of vaseline. Nothing was working. I find that it's the glycerin in products that leave you sticky. The petroleum, for me absorbs better than glycerin. I've found that it's difficult to find products without glycerin as the second ingredient. I used glycerin in the lab for many solutions and to keep protein gels from drying out and glycerin is great for making large bubbles.

I was complaining about my 'poor-alligator-dry-itchy-legs' on FB Friday. The Saturday, a friend left a container of Vanicream on my porch. Today, my legs are smooth and not itchy at all!

I know several products are just getting new packaging, including The Stripper. I use Sugar Fix or other scrubs (I love Walk In The Sand) and some older Slathers on my feet. They just announced their new catalog and there are some new must-haves for me. I'm a complete junkie.

I get terrible cracks in my fingertips in the winter. One time, I happened to have an appointment with a dermatologist for something else, but I mentioned the cracks while I was there. I'll tell you what he told me. When you get a crack, you have to seal it from the outside so that it can heal from the inside out. Sealing it also stops the pain. He recommended a product to me called New Skin (it's a liquid that you brush on the crack), but he also told me that many people use Superglue, and it does the same thing (although of course you have to be a lot more careful with Superglue!). I sometimes have to use the New Skin several times on the same crack before I get relief, and it hurts like hell, but it works. I also use a product called Blue Goo which is made for cracked heels. I don't use it every night, but when I have any cracks at all on my hands, I rub a little of the Goo right into each crack at bedtime.

Thank you for this thread, M, I don't really care either way about petroleum, so long as it works!
I'm suffering from itchy dry legs, dry rough hands, and the dreaded work elbow! I'll try anything at this point, I'm going to try these products!

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm going to suggest this to my daughter who also has "alligator skin" and hates the feeling of lotions.
