I was in a bit of a hurry yesterday and needed envelopes but I was in Target and they did not have the size I needed. I wandered for a bit and found a pack of 50 cards/envelopes in the scrapbook aisle, and because they would work and I can always use them, I went ahead and bought them.
Boy, I sure was disappointed. Compared to card stock I buy (and I am not at all picky, I buy card stock where ever I happen to be) it is flimsy and thin. I like to sew fabric and with these cards I really have to be careful to make sure that I don't pull my stitches and rip the paper.
I can't take them back because I had already raided the envelopes. I just thought because they were from a "brand name" they would be a little nicer.

So frustrating, especially when you are used to heavier paper!

I've had that happen to me as well. So frustrating. I just cut them and used them for layering and used heavier cardstock and layered around the thin stuff. Still they were more expensive so it burned my biscuits.lol.

I have never seen any even remotely close to a weight I would choose for a card. I sometimes wonder if they are made to use as a digital base. They are about the same weight as you get when you buy a printed card.

They are about the same weight as you get when you buy a printed card. I don't know what their intentions were...but I can say that these were closer to printer paper weight than card stock. The more I think on it, the more irritated I am.

I bought a pack of textured white paper from JoAnns and was really disappointed with the weight of it. Now I'm stuck with it - and I bought 4 packs. Ugh.

It's one of the reasons that I hate that Recollections is Michael's brand and replacing a lot of the stuff I used to buy. I'm now on the hunt for a better place to get envelopes and cards to make my cards. The stuff is so filmsy! And it's not like I am now paying LESS for the Recollections brand.

I felt the same way when I was in a pinch and had to buy some Recollections stuff. I use Stampin' Up!'s cardstock & envelopes but when I ran out and needed something fast Michael's was the only place I could get what I needed.

You could always use it or die cuts or for the top layer on your cards. I saw a lady on YouTube who uses three layers of white card stock on her cards to give them dimension. Each layer is 1/8 inch smaller all around.

This is why I use 8.5 x 11 paper to make my cards and buy envelopes separately
