This is what I woke up to. I take Piper for a walk every morning and every night. I pretty much know where slippery spots are as I have slipped a few times this winter. And since yesterday was 40 degrees, there was a lot of melting going on. I made it so good about half way around the block. Piper slipped and fell once, and I laughed at her. Well, that bit me in the butt! I get to this shot, I'm trying to be real careful, I know there is ice under there. No matter, feet going all over, slipping all over and down I go. Piper comes running, jumping all over and around me like it's time to play! I'm trying to get my footing to get up. Finally I get up. I turn to look at where I fell, looks like quite the tussle happened. OK, let's move on. Coming to the next place I know has ice. No can do, down I go again! Piper plays again. Finally got up, looks worse than the first time. Now I just laugh at myself! At least I made these spots clear for the next dog walker. I did make it home without another incident. As I'm sitting here, I'm starting to feel some soreness I my back, took some ibuprofen so that should help. Fun times! Attachments:

I almost bit it yesterday. The snow on the sidewalks has been shoveled and we've had some nice days so it is somewhat dry, but we still have big berms from the snowplows and in yards that melt all day. Yesterday morning I took Chewy out early and nearly bit it multiple times on ice from the melting snow that refroze over night. I slow down when it looks icy and he is pulling away.

I fell last week, luckily in slow motion, so I wasn't hurt.

I'm sorry.
My dogs morning walk is much longer than mine. Mine is as long as it is from my bed to the back door to let them out. and theirs is as long as they want to be out in the cold. We don't do morning walks around here. or any walks for that matter. Unless it is daughter taking Skip for a walk.

Ouch! I slipped on the ice a few weeks ago while walking my dog, and I think I scared him more than I scared myself. There's this one spot that's always icy, but it's right where my front walk meets the driveway, so I can't avoid it very well. I usually fare okay if I remember to watch myself, but when it's covered in snow, I sometimes forget.

Do you need to wear a helmet when you walk the dog??? Seriously--be careful out there!

I saw this on the news. Crazy! I myself would not park on the ice, it hasn't been cold enough for long enough.
Do you need to wear a helmet when you walk the dog??? Seriously--be careful out there! I am considering this...

And maybe wear something to cushion the rear if you fall as well as a helmet for your walk! Sounds like quite a walk you had there, the conditions look nasty! Hope you haven't got too many aches and pains as a result of your walk.
