I just finished hanging with our pet bunny, who is a male Lionhead who is about 2 years old. I love this bunny I'm always looking for new things to feed him and things for him to play with. Anyone else have a pet bunny in the family?

I don't but we take care of our neighbors when they go out of town. It's a cute little thing. My little one loves to pet her .

Our guy, whom I call Bunny Foo Foo, has long hair and is the size of our small cat I believe he thinks he is one of the cats

We used to. I miss him very much. I would love to get another but I worry about how my dogs would do with one. Back when we had our bun, we only had one dog (a different dog), and he was totally cool with the bun-he mostly ignored him. My current crew are a bit rowdy and unpredictable.

We do, his name is Edgar Cadbury Tuttleton III. He is very sweet And snuggly, he loves my husband gets though. My husband and are cats. He lives in my husband's rabbit proofed office and we have a baby gate to keep him in, but allow the cats to visit. He is so full of personality and playfulness. His favorite treats are plain shredded wheat and his yogurt drops. He is an all white Pygmy bun.

I had one growing up - she was trained to use a potty box and would come when you called her and play tug of war with our basset hound (with his pull toy)! She was a joy - I think I had her about 3-4 years before she died. Her best treat was a piece of iceburg lettuce at bedtime.

We have had numerous rabbits. I don't care for the one we have now, she doesn't like to be held, but the cat likes to snuggle and lick her so she has some redeeming qualities. I let her run around the house, and she will chase the cat. The other rabbits we have had were a bit more cuddly.

We don't, but I am often sorely tempted. I know two people who have had bunny pets who were allowed the run of the house and were litterbox trained. What personalities! I can't imagine having the house be bunny proofed, though - wires everywhere...

I can't imagine having the house be bunny proofed, though - wires everywhere... That is why he just has a room! They love to chew and despite the fact he has things specifically to chew on, if he could get to the cords he would chew them!

Thank you! I love naming pets! Edgar is for Edgar Allen Poe, Cadbury is for the candy eggs, my eldest son came up with the Tuttleton III. We also had a lady hamster named Mrs. Tinsel, another one of my son's creative names!

Plain shredded wheat cereal?? I'll have to try this!! Just make sure it just plain, that way you don't have to ration them since sugar can be so bad for bunnies.

"They love to chew "
They have to chew. It keeps their teeth under control.
As it turns out, Dh and I both had rabbits when we were kids. I was very young when we did, Dh was a teen. But ours were...um...livestock. Dh wont have a rabbit as a pet based on his experience having to take care of them as a teen.

We do. One is just a plain old short hair black & white rabbit - we call him B. Bunny. Then there is father & son long hair, beige & white, angora rabbits, they are Harrison & Jefferson respectively. We have kept rabbits for about 15 years & I love it!

He was a sweet, but grumpy old guy named Chumley. DS added on to that and decided his "real" name was Sir Chumford Wellington III.

I don't have one now but when I was a kid I had one. She was the best bunny ever. She had a really big bunny hutch. In the spring we would do this big very big garden and my mom always planted a couple extra rows of carrots for me and my bunny. She had a collar and I would put her in the yard on a 6 foot dog chain (the light weight ones for small dogs. She would chew the rope ones) and she would run around in the grass... I also had a big saint Bernard dog and I usually made sure he was either in the garage or on his chain when I had the rabbit out. One day I took the rabbit out and put her on the chain and went in the house to get something and looked out the window to check on her and the dog was laying in the grass and the rabbit was cuddled up next to the dog. I must have been in the house 5 or 10 minutes. after that the dog and bunny were friends and loved hanging out together. the dog would lay under the bunny hutch.
Have you tried those wood chew things that are shaped like veggies.

We did, but she passed away at the age of ten a few years ago. She loved paper towel tubes, all the greens off the vegetables I was cutting up for dinner, fresh clover, alfalfa treats (as a treat only--she ate Timothy hay regularly, along with kaytee rabbit blend seeds), salt licks, honey seed rolls, apple cores...she was kind of a worthless pet though because she didn't like being held. She only ever wanted to look for things to eat when she was out of her cage. She was so pretty and gentle though! She was a mini rex. So soft and pretty.

Sadly, until a week ago, we had two bunnies. The black and white one was Buttons, who sadly passed away at about the age of 10 (he was SPCA rescue bunny, so age was approximate). This is a picture of him at the annual kids Humane Society pet show. He always won best hopper! In the winter, when we had Buttons diagnosed at the vets and treatment not working, we adopted the black lop-eared bunny, Blackberry. He's a good fella too :-) Both bunnies "work" in my classrom. One traveled everyday to school and spent the day in my classroom. I get many placement requests for kids to be in my classroom, based solely on having a bunny! LOL
