Not sure that's when what it's called! My husband has a small restoration / re purposing, etc business. Currently we only have a Facebook page, no website. A friend mentioned doing something to get on a Web search...like if someone types in re purposing, reclamation, etc ..would like to have our page be on the "list". Do we need a website to make that happen? Or can it link to the Facebook page?
Thanks for any tips!

SEO is what you're talking about, search engine optimization.
It helps to have a website, truly. Most won't take a Facebook page presence as professional, it's more of an add on.
I use Dreamhost as web host, and have for the past 15 years.

Any sites offer free hosting?

I'll be honest - using a free hosting site is like using a yahoo email address - it just doesn't come across as professional.
Having your own domain and website isn't super expensive - I use Namesco and it costs under $9/month for the website and I think about $25/yr for the domain. There are other options out there as well - if you're in the States, you'll probably want a .com domain (mine is a .co.uk)

Yep, you'll need a website. Hosting is under $10/mo. Read some reviews before you pick one. They vary in CS, downtime, etc. I've always heard bad things about GoDaddy and also lately about BlueHost. My host includes 1-click Wordpress installations which is great.
Self-hosted Wordpress.org is the best for SEO. Set a blog as the front page that you add posts to at least weekly using the keywords that people will be searching to find his type of business.
