I've googled and come up with some, but it's hard to tell which are actually good ones and active without making an account, and I'm not asking for myself. a friend is dealing with their daughter recovering, and the daughter's children being taken away and raised by other people, adopted. she could really use someone(s) to open up to to that isn't going to judge them like people in real life may. of course I'm there for her, but I thought it might be helpful to be able to have some resources where she can connect to people who have and are going thru the same thing, you know? thanks for any suggestions.

No experience with it online, but when my sister was dealing with prescription pain med abuse I was able to find a local support group through her recovery program. I didnt go to their meetings all the time but I would when I knew she had relapsed, and when she was just being a horrible person.
Good luck to your friend and her daughter.

Al-Anon is a fantastic (local, not online) program, not just for family and friends of alcohol abuse, but also drug abuse. I would encourage anyone with an addict in the family to give Al-Anon a good try (a month or two of meetings, not just one or two).

I don't see an online forum option here, but Tylerslight is a reputable organization. I'm sure they'd be happy to help you sort through the different forums that are available and recommend some of the best. TylersLight
