Well, the Super Bowl leftovers are just about done, but I have a work dinner tonight. So I don't know what the rest of the fam is having but I'm having some steak and seafood. I do have some mammoth carrots from my bountiful basket last Saturday that we need to do something with. I'm not much of a carrot fan. Don't hate them but don't like them. Maybe I will go google a carrot cake recipe. That I can do! This recipe has been repinned a lot on my veggie Pinterest board ... I haven't had a chance to try it but it looks like a tasty way to make carrots GARLIC BUTTER ROASTED CARROTS

It's colder than the proverbial witch's whatsits, so seems a good night for homemade beef vegetable soup, with a green salad and crusty sour dough bread to go with. Don't know about dessert.

Something warm! I have to go back out into the cold to get a crown recemented. I'm getting sick of having to go back in, I'm thinking my dentist doesn't do a great job... Anyway, I'm frozen solid already but have no plans yet, but it needs to be hot or warm. It might be take out on the way home.

The kids are having leftover spaghetti bolognese that I froze last week. DH has a 9pm MRI scheduled (why so late? no idea) so we are grabbing a bite to eat together before his procedure.

It's cold here and we are wanting some comfort food. We're having grilled cheese sandwiches and creamy tomato rice soup.

We are having chili in front of the t.v. while watching Grey's Anatomy. Can't wait for either.

We ate gumbo for the 3rd time in the past 5 days. After dinner tonight, the rest of it goes into the freezer for another day.
As to meal planning: I'm trying to get back to making more things from scratch, rather than just opening cans. To do this, I have to plan some meals ahead of time.
When I asked what he wanted for dinner tonight, DH asked if I had the makings for chili. I didn't have them ready at the time, but now I have ground beef thawing in the fridge and beans soaking in a crock. We'll do pizza tomorrow night (homemade dough and sauce), then chili Saturday. We'll probably make nachos Monday with some of the leftover chili and I'll still have enough to freeze for a couple of meals. We'll probably eat Sunday lunch/dinner at the movie theater when we go to see Deadpool.
If all goes well, I'll be smoking my first batch of homemade Andouille on Monday, so we'll probably have red beans on Tuesday.

It's so much easier when I have a plan for the week. I feel lost when I don't have a plan. I took @carblover443's dh up on his challenge to make something from one of the dinner threads, so I'm doctoring up some canned spaghetti sauce, using ingredients bothmykidsrbrats posted recently and will serve it over pasta (duh). I'll roast brussels sprouts and carrots, make garlic bread (if I can find the roasted garlic in my disorganized freezer), slice some apples, and there's some of the mocha dessert left from last night. I can't wait for other fruits to be in-season. I'm getting so tired of apples and grapes. *sigh* I'll have to let DH know that while I've failed him miserably so far, someone else is carrying the banner.
