Has anyone read Emily Giffin's newest book, The One and Only? I was not a fan, but I must have liked it somewhat because I read it in two days. But the whole storyline just made me think ICK!! When I added it to my good reads list, I read the first dozen or so reviews, and was not surprised to see that most people gave it only one star, for the same reason I didn't like it. I was curious what the Peas think!

You're not alone. I thought it had major ick factor too. I was so disappointed. I have enjoyed her other books.

I like her books, but haven't read that one due to he poor reviews. I'm all for fluff reading, but not junk.

I didn't like it either. It felt rushed to me. And I felt no real compassion for any of the characters. It also seemed like she was grabbing her plot from the headlines and never really fleshed out the story.

I usually like her books, but this one? Not so much. I had to force myself to finish it.

Haven't read it, but I've got it sitting here... It came in one of my PopSugar (June?) boxes.

Truly surprised at how all over the place the reviews are on Goodreads.com!

FTR, I live in Pittsburgh where a lot of women take football very seriously. However, I can assure you that none are as vapid as the main character! How awful was she?! Besides, the book had too many "ick" factors to be likeable at all. I thought for sure, though, that someone was going to say something about the mention of "acid-free scrapbooking" on p. 16!

I loved her other books and was looking forwarding to reading this one. Major disappointment. I skimmed through a couple chapters and ended up reading the last 3 pages...Glad I didn't waste my time reading the whole book or buying it!

I just finished the audiobook. Thought it was just ok but totally agree about the ick factor on so many levels.
