Well what did everyone think? I wasn't too thrilled about the ending. I'm not jumping straight into spoilers just didn't want people to come in and not be warned.

I didn't know it started tonight. My premiere list has failed me. LOL. I'll have to catch the rerun later.

I'll jump in before the spoilers start, lol.
I must admit, I cannot remember the show Under the Gunn for the life of me, so I have no idea who those two designers are.
As usual, Daniel Franco is all over the place. I want to like him, but just can't.
Some of the designs were pretty good. Others, meh.
Can't believe the ending, either! What's up w/that crap?
Hoping it picks up as the season goes on.
So far, I'm liking the kid season better!

OK, first up it looks like Ken hasn't changed at all, which doesn't surprise me, he obviously has some serious issues with anger management etc and putting him in a high stress situation like this is going to push all of his buttons. I wish producers would see this and not exploit people like this for the sake of "good TV".
Apart from that, I'm excited about this season. I think they have some great designers and some fun personalities. I don't know the two from 'Under The Gunn" I never watched that. I thought some of the clothes today were great and the right person definitely won. I loved Fade's look and was surprised he wasn't in the top. Apart from not liking Ken, I agree his look was well made, but there wasn't anything "new" about it, we've all seen that same dress 100 times before...in fact it made me think of a dress I had in the early 80s...exactly the same shape. I think the right look won, it was definitely something I could see on the twentysomething trendy girls these days. I really didn't like Dom's look.
I like Daniel, but I don't think he'll do well, I don't think he'll be quick enough or fashion forward enough for this show. I'm kind of glad about the ending, I think the first challenge is tough and it does take some people a bit of time to adjust and you can't tell just from one look as to what they are really capable of. I'm happy to see both of them again and see what they do next.
Can't wait to see Boy George as a judge! and then there's this: Mondo, Seth, Dmitry (don't remember the last guy) and they are walking into the workroom saying "we're back", so that will be interesting too. and I saw a lot of fabric in the preview at the end, so hopefully that means there won't be lots of unconventional materials used.
I think it will be a good season.

I actually liked the concept and originally liked Sam but he thinks a lot of himself - maybe he is uber talented and I just don't get it. At the moment, his attitude is much bigger than his talent. I honestly love Ken's look but it looks like he is going to explode before the season is over. Honestly, I get it. I don't know if I could be in such a high stress environment with the same people 24/7. Probably makes me understand why the guy in the last series kept going for a smoke break. I would probably take up smoking just to have a few minutes to myself.

I agree that it looks like it will be a good season. Everyone's looks were well made and thought out (well, most of them.) It was a huge difference from the trash that has walked down the runway the last couple of seasons. Finally! I'm looking forward to some actual design creativity, talent and construction.
Alissa doesn't look as matronly so far. Her hair and makeup were a lot more fresh and young looking. I don't get her clothing style at all, though.

She just isn't going to show that leggy model look of Heidi. I'm sure her looks are styled, so I put any frumpiness down to the production staff not her.

Keeping in mind I didn't watch the previews for next week:
PROs:
I'm delighted Fäde is back, and disagree that his design this week was only "safe."
I tired of Kini's look on his season, but loved this week's dress. Again, "safe?"
Valerie's dress was darling. What a boost for her to win.
I like Emily, although she was inconsistent in her season. Love her personal look.
CONs
Bringing back Ken and Alexander. That season had SUCH an unpleasantly bitchy clique.
Oh, Zanna!! I've said it before: She'd make a great host, but she is not mentor material.

I watched part of Under the Gunn and vaguely remember Asha and Sam. I remember Sam more from the blogs he did on a couple seasons. He is truly the cliche catty gay guy. I saw a recap where they called Sam "the sound bite machine for the season" and I can see that happening easily.
The two bottom looks should've gone home. And it looks like at least half of the designers there thought the same.
Ugh, Ken again?

I've seen enough mondo to last me the rest of my life so I'm not looking forward to that.
I watched under the gunn but can't remember if I liked those two or not. I'm thinking I didn't.

Come on, you can't use the "We don't know you as a designer yet" story on all stars! How about using the past season (or 2) to know your designer. I did think overall it was a very good runway show and agreed with the bottom 3.

She just isn't going to show that leggy model look of Heidi. I'm sure her looks are styled, so I put any frumpiness down to the production staff not her. Agreed, at least her hair looked clean & brushed.
About the styling - do they have any say in what they're wearing? Veto rights? I'm a t-shirt & jeans girl, far from what I would consider fashionable, but if I were preparing to be on national television, not to mention a fashion program, I'd be perusing myself in the mirror from every angle, including sitting down, to make sure I looked my absolute best in the outfit. (cue pet peeve #1 - when stars - or anyone, really - are on a show where they have to sit in a chair and wear a short dress or skirt, sit down cross their legs & you can see all the way up to their hooha. Does no one notice this? Or do they just not care?)
I guess I'm not meant to understand "high fashion". Not just on PR but everywhere. In my little bubble, "fashionable & stylish" means that one dresses in a manner flattering to their figure and appropriate for the event/situation. I don't remember which look it was, but they were all cooing about how good it looked on the model and I'm all "Dude, her boobs are an inch above her waistline" . (cue pet peeve #2 - when stars are on the red carpet in gowns that could be beautifully flattering, if only they had worn a bra - or necklines that V to the waist and there is no hint of a boob to be found, or if there is it's sag city. Sure mine are as saggy as anyone's, but I don't particularly want to enhance that for all the world to see.)
I do have hopes that this season will be good, if nothing else than to watch Kini sew. I did feel that Mitchell should have gone home. His dress was like 3 different garments slapped together and the fit was awful. The other one in the bottom, meh I'm willing to give him a break on the sleeves because of his injury, and at least it fit the model well.

I finally watched it last night. I can't stand when they don't eliminate anyone but even more so on the first episode. I feel like it devalues everyone else's hard work who made garments well enough to move on to the next challenge and these guys got a pass? I also don't know why Daniel Franco is there or how he could ever be considered and all-star. He tanks the first season and didn't do much better in season 2 (he went out on the fourth week).

Obviously he's going to have changed significantly in that time. Looking back on his past season to make a judgment 9 years later is pretty unfair.

I didn't know either and I regularly check a site that has premiere dates. This one was never on it. Thank goodness for the peas. LOL Host is Alyssa Milano Judges are Isaac Mizrahi and the gorgeous Georgina Chapman (founder of Marquesa) and a guest judge Tim is not on it. Zanna Roberts Rossi is the mentor. Thursdays, I believe.

gorgeous Georgina Chapman She actually didn't say it this episode...I think they must have been getting ridiculed a bit too much for it in online forums and they've finally stopped being so obviously suck-uppy.
