I made a softcover book a few years ago of my blog documenting my DH's last two years of life through SharedBook. I just downloaded the whole thing and had it printed. I like it, would like to make the same book again for my three children but a more customized version using Blurb this time. My children will have this book to remember their Dad by and my grandchildren will be able to read about their grandfather. I'm going to give it to them on DH's next birthday, September 26th.
Does anyone have any hints for doing this? I'm finding it quite time consuming. I like having the ability to add more pictures to the book than what I have posted on my blog. It's almost like digital scrapping. I also like that I can remove some posts so that the book follows his life and doesn't include other blog posts about my scrapbooking and church events.
Once I've got this done, I think I'm going to delete my blog. If anyone here has done this, I'd appreciate any help with tips or hints to make it a book to remember.

Your idea is wonderful! I will be following your thread with great interest. I am sorry I cannot help you but want to suggest additionally posting this in the scrapping area.

I don't have any advice, I just want to say that it is a wonderful idea and one they will all deeply treasure, I'm sure.

I looked into it years ago, but couldn't find a format that would also inlude the comments made by others to my posts. If anyone nows of a service that does that now I'd love to print mine out.
OP, I think it's a great idea, but I know how time consuming it is to pull it all together.

That's a great idea. I don't have many blog posts but I can see myself doing something like that a few years from now.

Peal , I never thought about adding the comments. I don't see them in the book I'm doing with Blurb.

I made a Shutterfly book out of my cancer blog. It was ridiculously time consuming, but I wanted to make sure I had it all saved somewhere. I added some pictures, took some things out, and changed the tense of some of the posts (made everything past-tense). I ended up with a ~30 page 12x12 book in a scrapbook format (hardcover). Definitely a labor of love. I had the shutterfly website open in one window, and my blog in another. I went through from the beginning and put it all together chronologically. I didn't really realize that I had trailed off so much in documenting things towards the tail end of canceriness with my last two surgeries and my hair growing endeavors, so I added pictures and thoughts in on that to make everything a little more comprehensive.
Not sure if there is a perfect way out there to make a blog into a book, but this was does work (even if it is a slooooooow process)

PNWMom that sounds like a labor of love. And yes, it is time consuming, but I think it is worth it! I hope your cancer is gone and that you are enjoying good health now. So did you just copy and paste everything? In Blurb, it pulls in the exact blog, in chronological order, with each post a single page. That is making the book too many pages (and $$$) so I'm manually editing just about every page to allow me to put several posts on each page. I'm also adding pictures that I didn't feel comfortable putting up on the blog, since the book is just for my family. I work on it for a bit and then walk away for a few days. Definitely not something you can knock out in a few hours.

MDscrapaholic Yes, I copied and pasted. Started at the beginning of the blog and pasted in the tons and tons of text, the sprinkled in the pictures. Some pics were on my blog, but not all. I had some pics of things that I really didn't want to forget, but hadn't put on the blog (I lost most of my fingernails; close ups of my nonexistent eyebrows and my eyelids without any lashes. I would probably forget about the nails without the picture-it was odd and unexpected, but interesting). I am pretty happy with how things turned out. Cancer blog to photobook

PNWMom , Thank you for sharing your blog book. It's a beautiful testimony to how strong you are! I know it was probably very hard to relive everything as you were making the book. I know I have to stop after a while just to calm down because I remember how I felt at the time, and it wasn't me who was ill, it was my DH. I loved the henna crown!
