I have multiple skin tags that have developed over the winter. With summer coming, is there anything you have done to get rid of them?

My family doctor burns them off. Hurts for a few seconds, then they fall off within a couple days.

If they are small I just yank them off.

I use fingernail clippers & just clip them off. They bleed like crazy though.

Small ones get clipped off with nail clippers and then a stiptic pencil to stop the bleeding.

Ummmmmm. I read, yeah that's right...read that if you get a can of "canned air" and turn it upside down while depressing the button, using the straw thingie to target on the skin tag, the cold gas works like the gas in the dermatologist office. I read that initially when the gas hits the skin, it hurts like an SOB but eventually a blister forms and the tag falls off. Of course, I can not personally recommend this method. I just read about it.

I sterilize a small pair of nail/cuticle scissors and snip them off myself.

Fingernail clipper may work. Interesting about the can!

I just sterilize scissors, sterilize the area, and clip them off. That is all the dermatologist did.

I just sterilize scissors, sterilize the area, and clip them off. I have no problem with that in theory...but doesn't it hurt? How do you do it without chickening out?

I was thinking of using an ice pack n the area before clipping.

I have a friend who for some reason gets these like crazy. She told me she has two methods. With both she puts a ice cube on first for a few minutes to numb it. Then she uses the fingernail clippers if it is a small tag. If it is larger tag she ties dental floss in a loop around it and just tightens till it cuts it off. She said this helps the bleeding better.

I put clear nail polish on them. I reapply it for a few days and the tags eventually fall off.

Yikes! I put melaleuca on them. They get dry and scabby and come off. Clipping sounds painful!

I have a hard time removing a splinter. There is no way I could clip them off myself! I'm going to go to the dermatologist and see if he will give me propofol…

Tea tree oil dries them up until they eventually fall off.

I had one under my hair line under my armpit. It was just there. One day while I was shaving I shaved too far down and took it off. It hurt a 0 on a 10 point scale. It did bleed but didn't hurt. (That was weird.) And it's gone. I figured it would just grow back and it hasn't. So I don't know? Shaving them off maybe? It seriously did NOT hurt.

Dd used apple cider vinegar on hers twice a day, covered with a bandaid for a few weeks.

Geez, when I am at my family Dr for an appt anyway, I just have him take care of them. No extra cost, no scarring. For larger ones, I would go to a derm.

For all the people who clip them yourself, they don't grow back?
I developed a few during my recent pregnancy. So annoying!

I just sterilize scissors, sterilize the area, and clip them off. I have no problem with that in theory...but doesn't it hurt? How do you do it without chickening out? Just a teeny bit -no more than if the doctor would do it. Sometimes I've had to take a couple tries! Frankly, a papercut hurts more. Maybe I left out one of the really important parts -- SHARP scissors -- really, the sharpest scissors you have available to you! As to the "chicken out" part - I rarely go at this unless I'm totally annoyed by the skin tag. In those cases, it becomes a choice of "lesser evil" -- then once you've started (there might be blood) you really have to finish! The last one I did was in a bad spot for me to reach so I had to force DS to do it. He is studying to be a paramedic so I just considered it clinical work and good experience for him! The last doctor I had remove skin tags charged $50.00 each -- I believe that included pathology which really wasn't necessary. None of the ones I've clipped or had clipped have grown back. Others have grown, but I don't think there is any particular relationship between the events of clipping and growing!

A cousin of mine said her doctor will do 10 maximum at one appointment, for a single copay. Her copay is $15. If she had to pay $50 each, she definitely would find a way to do it herself.

i have a ton! What I have found out: if mine gets clipped off, they grow back. If the dr freezes them off at the base, they stay gone.
I have used the clear nail polish tip on a small one on my face and it did help. Took about two weeks of applications and I am left with a tiny bump, but 6 months later it is regrowing.
Mine tend to grow the most where my skin gets rubbed: neckline, bra straps and bottom of the bra. Need to go in and have about 2 dozen removed from where the elastic on my bra rubs.
Cutting them hurts like a son of a gun, plus they bleed so much.
I suck up the co-pay and have it done every other year.

I've gotten a few and just let my husband clip them off. It really doesn't hurt much because there's no nerves in there. Be warned though, this can be a sign that you have diabetes so if you get lots of them, might be worth it to get your blood checked.

I use fingernail clippers & just clip them off. They bleed like crazy though. That's what I do. The smaller ones you can barely feel and they don't bleed much. If it's a bigger one it will pinch and could bleed a fair bit. I've been doing it this way for years. I can't imagine going to a doctor and paying that much for skin tags to be removed unless they were in an odd place. ETA: I haven't had any grow back.
