I was watching a you tube video and it featured a stamp set by Tim Holtz his travel labels or something. I thought to myself I own that. Yeah I'm looking thru my stash and I can't seem to find it. Now its an older set but really I thought I owned it. Still not convinced I don't own it. Am I the only one this happens too. This happened to me when QK alphas were popular I was so sure I owned i think it was Cosmo and nope never owned it.

Still not convinced I don't own it. Sure do know this feeling, just happened over the weekend while searching for die cut frames...

Used to happen to me too. That's why I use Evernote to keep track of all my stamps and dies

I keep an updated list of many scrap supplies in my purse. It took days and days to originally set up, but it has proven itself effective.

That happens to me if I see something in a catalog and I think of all the things I could do w/it. Somehow, my brain gets tricked into thinking I already own it, lol. Sure keeps my budget in check, but makes me crazy!
I have created a running list on my table of alcohol & distress ink colors that I own so I don't buy doubles and I know what colors I need.

I don't know what's worse thinking you own something you don't or buying two of something that aren't consumables.

I don't know what's worse thinking you own something you don't or buying two of something that aren't consumables. Both of those have happened to me.
And I have been convinced I own something, spend hours looking for it, given up and used something else instead, only to find what I had been looking for right there next time I am searching for something else.
Dodge (I think) used to run an ad for their van with the folding seats, where everything, even furniture, liked to play hide and seek. I think my craft supplies do that: just to annoy me!!!

I've done both too. Back in the day when we had actual stores to go to, I would look at stuff all the time and come very CLOSE to buying it but then would put it back at the last minute. Then a few weeks or months later when I'd be working on something, I would sit there and really have to think: did I actually buy that thing or just THINK about buying it? Arrggghh! More recently, I was looking at some clear stamps at my friend's rummage sale and saw a cute set for cheap so I snagged it. Got home, went to put it away with my other clear stamps--and saw its twin right there in the box. Yup, I bought the exact same set from someone else at the LAST used stuff sale!

This is one problem I'm happy to say I don't have, but I could see how it happens.

I need to find my Evernote password and start doing it in here on my tablet that I got for Christmas. After all, it is in here WITH most of my dies and stamps! Not only does it have a detachable keyboard but I also have a regular keyboard and mouse attached to it. got them NEW at the thrift store a few weeks ago.
I had several QuicKutz alphabets and dies and several AccuCut Zip'cut slphabet and dies that I stalked for years. I keep them in zipped notebooks in either sports card pages or some coin or slide pages. There was one particular Zip'eCut alphabet I wanted for YEARS.
And then one day, someone on 2 peas FSOT had it for sale. I was debating on buying it, went in and looking through my notebook full of alphabets and THERE it was. I have NO memory of buying it and even went through all my emails trying to figure out which pea I bought it from and looking through eBay. Didn't find anything anywhere... The weird thing is, I usually remember buying stuff and sometimes even the peas name!
Very glad I did NOT buy the second one! I DID buy two QK 2x2 candy corn, do you get the idea I adore candy corn? Not a problem, just sent to a friend of mine!
I'm STILL looking for Zip'eCut alphabet I want so bad. I have the lower case, BOUGHT the numbers from Cut at Home.com. I NEVER got it, it was tough luck I mailed it, too bad you didn't get it. She wouldn't even let me buy the 2nd one she had in stock, said someone else either wanted it or might want it. I will never ever order from them again, she was just nasty.
I assumed orders were insured, there was no option to add insurance. The website did NOT say packages were not insured and it was at the customer's risk. After I called and called, the website was changed afterwards to say that shipping was not insured and it was a chance the customer had to take AND they wouldn't offer insurance. Well, nope, not again. I mean, how do I even know it was shipped?
Anyway, I'm going to get off my duff and get adding to Evernote again!
