It is very interesting to read the responses in this post. Many are saying that an 14 is no way "plus sized", where in Australia that definitely would be considered so. No flaming, just reality.(Note, I hate this term but I am using it because it is a term of reference). Our plus-size stores generally start at a 16 (a US 12). In Australia the average size is 14/16 which is where I fit. I would not like to see our average size go two sizes higher. I like seeing fit and healthy women no matter what size in the media. An Aus TV presenters Fiona Faulkner is a great example of a stunning woman who is a size 16 (US12) that has had great success. I would love to see more like her. Size 14 is plus sized from a sizing standpoint at stores I've been to, however it's more like average from a how many people are this size. I think the average us woman is a size 14. Also with vanity sizing who knows, I used to be a 10 and am probably now a 6, after losing weight. However I have some old size 10 pants that are very close to my newer size 6s. So i know sizes have changed. Finally she is a plus sized model, no matter what anyone wants to argue about her in the real world. In the modeling world they use a size 12 or 14 model to model women's clothing. In the real world she'd just be average sized clothes wise, but incredibly lucky figure wise! Eta in the us, plus sized is often called women's, and average sizes misses. I have lost a ton of weight. I still couldn't tell you what size I really am. It depends totally on the day, the brand/label, the alignment of the moon...who knows. I have a pair of pants that I use to gauge progress or to know if I am going off the rails. They are a size 8, but a recent adventure in trying on clothes reminded me that not all size 8's are equal. (some too big, some OMG I can't breath too small.) Between vanity sizing and the incredible inconsistency between stores/brands, who the hell knows why we even try to fit women in categories. All I know is that while trying on pants I was either alternately ready to throw a party or curl into a little catatonic ball of self-flagellating pity.

14 is plus size. Her boobs are going to sell that magazine. She could be wearing a flour sack on that bottom half.

I'm on a diet. I want to lose a big amount of weight. Her body.....that is VaVaVoom! I could handle being a 14 if my weight shifts around to look like hers. (After 4 kids....I'm not waiting for SI to call me. I don't think my body has that much shift left in it

She is absolutely stunning. To me, anyway. ITA!! I'm a size 8, and I will NEVER look that fantastic. Who cares what size she is?!

I think where confusion really comes into play is that there is an overlap between which sizes you can find in the regular misses dept. and which sizes you can find in the plus department.
Sure, many plus size departments and stores have 14s and/or 16s, but most regular misses departments have those, too. When I was wearing 14s & 16s, I shopped only in regular departments.
And of course, sizing is so wonky. (And lately, even the mens' clothing, that is supposed to be by measurement, DH has been having problems with. How can he fit into shorts with 4 different waist sizes when the waist size is supposed to be in true inches?? Beats me, but it's happening to him lately.) I never had a time, as an adult, when I was only one size. I was 12 in brand A and 14 in brand B, but in that one dress, I could wear a 10. It's ridiculous. So honestly, even referencing her size is silly to me. Her being a 16 (which is what I heard) or a 14 (which she also may be) really doesn't mean a thing.
At least when they say 5'10"/180 lbs, I can make a better frame of reference for that.

Most plus size departments at major retailers begin at size 18. Size 14 is not plus sized. I'm not sure what you mean by "most" but Target's Women's department begins at a 14. I also randomly checked and Macy's, JC Penney and Kohls also start at a 14. Old Navy starts at a 16. I've yet to find one retailer that I shop at that starts their plus-sizes at an 18. So I'll refute your "most" claim here. I'm amazed that women here are literally arguing that she's simply not plus-sized enough. But this is 2peas afterall. I think some of the confusion over what a plus size actually is stems from how stores label departments. Macy's has a plus sized department that starts at 14. The regular department has sizes up to 16. The overlap makes arguments based on store classification pretty useless.

I'm not sure why anyone is arguing if she's plus-sized...she looks fantastic, but she's still a large gal. That's not really debatable.

I think it's a great, and they let her keep her top on. Which is more than they did for Hailey Clausen. What an awkward pose they chose for her cover. Ronda is killing it in a lovely one piece. Her cover is the best I think.
ETA. I think Ronda's suit might be body paint. If not the cover then at least inside there is body painting.
Also I made the mistake of reading the comments on the SI site regarding the covers. Shudder. There are some real pigs out there.

Plus-sized stores and sections typically size from 14W up. 14W is a bit bigger than a misses' section 14, 16W is bigger than a misses' 16, and so on. IME a misses' 16 or even 18 is about the same as a 14W - so if she's a misses' 16, she's just barely plus-sized in the sense of fitting into clothes from a true plus-sized store. Which is neither here nor there in terms of whether she's a beautiful woman and quite a bit larger than the standard model size. Just offered as a point of clarification.

I have broad shoulders and large boobs, defined waist, round butt but narrow hips. W sizes have no waist and the hips are always too big. Misses I can't get my shoulders and boobs into. Most of what I wear is stretchy jersey knit so I have some wriggle room.

Beautiful lady! And what passes for Plus Sized slays me sometimes. Kudos to SI for moving in the right direction. And peasapie, thank you for sharing. I'm so glad you are well now!
