How old is your oven? Nothing lasts long anymore.
If your oven is even close to approaching 10 years old, I would but my losses and look a new one in a different brand.

I have a Kitchen Aid appliances. Five months later the over the stove microwave broke. Over the course of four months and about 40 phone calls, the repairman they sent says it can't be fixed. They didn't believe him and more repairman arrive (at their convenience) and both say it can't be fixed. It was literally like pulling teeth to get the new one delivered and installed. I'm afraid to use the microwave and there is no way I'm using the self clean function. My knees still hurt from washing the racks in my bathtub a couple weeks ago.
So I agree they suck. Sorry to use your thread for my own personal rant!

I have a KA oven but I haven't used the self-clean feature....now I don't think I want to!
No advice on the small claims court, but good luck with your efforts.

I loved my first KA oven, so when I moved, I bought another, updated model. I'm regretting it because about 1/3 of the time the damned thing won't light. It's super annoying. No more warranty and that just started happening a few months ago. I've never used the self cleaning function because I've read others here saying that killed their ovens--not just KA brand.

I used the self clean oven feature and the oven has stopped working. I see that there has been at least one class action lawsuit in New York back in 2011. The oven is out of warranty. Im thinking possibly a small claims court case. The part and repair will be in the $250 range according to one of the local repair places and the only reason it had not broken before is that I've been wiping it clean instead of using the self clean feature. I know Kitchen Aid counts on people like me not wanting to deal with small claims court paperwork, but, I'm willing to do it. I would appreciate any tips or comments on how best to approach this. Kitchen Aid is such a crooked company. Our first oven was a complete lemon, and thinking back, it was probably because we used the self cleaning feature once. Finally after countless repairs, they offered 150 toward a new oven and we stupidly took it. This is the oven we are now having the problems with. It is interesting, that they have completely deleted all of my appliance repair complaints/records. Within the last 12 years, we have purchased and registered (and had problems with) a washer, dryer, oven #1, dishwasher. The customer service rep claims, they never delete records. Thank you.
I'm all fighting the good fight, but I think I would just cut my losses and not by another Kitchen Aid product. Why do keep buying Kitchen Aid after your first oven went kaput, or did you purchase them all together?
I've had a GE oven going on 12 years and have self-cleaned it at least 12-16 times and have not had any issues.
