Where do you think stores like Tuesday Morning get their random scrapbook items?
We have a local craft chain here called Craft Warehouse and they have been selling older October Afternoon paper by the sheet for over a year (Farm Girl,Eggnog and Sasparilla off the top of my head) and occasionally (but not lately) some of the embellishments that go with those lines (in random places in the scrapbook section, not near the paper, it's like a treasure hunt...) The thought of millions of sheets of OA paper sitting unused for years kind of makes my brain hurt.
Is there some giant warehouse somewhere full of older scrapbook stuff? It can't be some random scrap store going out of business because that's a lot of product and sometimes it's not even that old...
I have a few lines I really hope have been stuck in some warehouse somewhere that will magically appear at Tuesday Morning one day.
Just a random thought on a boring Thursday.

My first thought is the manufacturer has stock they are getting rid of. Especially given OA's reputation it wouldn't surprise me if they kept finding older stock in their warehouse. It could also be wholesalers who bulk buy from manufacturers who are then liquidating their inventory.

manufacture overstock. I remember when Big Lots used to sell SB stuff. it was hit or miss but sometimes they would have the best papers and embellishments. when they stopped selling SB stuff, Tuesday Morning started selling more. I think it's a great way for manufacturers to get rid of excess stock.

I remember when Big Lots used to sell SB stuff. I miss that so much. TM is quite a ways away from me.

Maybe even places like QVC or HSN that sell a lot of craft supplies.

Tuesday Morning buys stuff likeTJ Maxx does - it's mostly overstock from manufacturers. I know American Crafts sells to them because we see a lot of their brands show up on shelves. AC could sell to TM directly or there could also be a middle man wholesaler. Some of the now defunct brands showing up there, like Chatterbox, were probably sold to a liquidator who then shopped it around to stores like TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning.

I immediately thought of Craft Warehouse when I saw the title of your post. I saw some L'il Davis there recently and wondered where it had been hiding all these years.

I think it's a great way for manufacturers to get rid of excess stock. Well, that explains it! I don't get there much, Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, Hobby Lobby and the "LSS" are in a town 80 miles away. Sometimes I don't get there for a year or two, sometimes a couple times a year. I knew that I had gotten a few dies and stamps there and when we went last fall for the first time in 2 years, there was NOTHING. Wasted stop, glad it was just before I got to Tuesday Morning. I got to Tuesday Morning and hit pay dirt. Got dies, got embossing folders and got lots of Bazzill and some other cardstock on the clearance aisle. I told my DH that I was happy, didn't really "have" to go to Hobby Lobby. We did and I found some good stuff there too. Now that I know Big Lots doesn't carry SB, I won't bother stopping next time.

I often wonder where all these older lines come from too. We have an online seller in Australia that often gets lots of older lines and brands in, often stuff that has not been around for years. They had a ton of different Junkitz stuff a while back, it was a nice walk down memory lane.

i would think it's the only logical place for manufacturers to sell their excess. the LSS aren't going to buy older products. a nationwide distribution deal at TM would clear out a lot of excess product for companies who don't really do warehouse boxes and warehouse sales. even if TM bought it for pennies on the dollar, these companies will still make some money as opposed to letting older products sit around collecting dust.

Their website says that they have buyers that go around the world looking for treasures. I am sure most of it comes from US scrapbook manufacturers. For a while after LYB announced it was done, we got a lot of their papers.
