I have a shoulder I had rotator cuff surgery on twice within 6 months, about 3 years ago. I have occasional times when it bothers me but nothing major. Monday I woke up and it was sore...thought maybe i slept wrong. Well its 4 days now and no better actually hurts worse. What are the chances something would be up with it? I don't recall "doing anything " to it. Ever have that happen? Thanks

Could it be frozen shoulder? I had shoulder surgery a long time ago and often get this. When it flares up, I have a hard time moving my arm up over my head or behind my back. Putting a bra on can be really painful. My current doctor told me that they no longer perform the particular type of surgery I had due to the high rate of frozen shoulder afterwards. It hurts a lot and I take an anti-inflammatory for it. I also had PT, but the stretches they had me doing really only helped a little.
I hope you find relief from your pain.

It's definitely pain in my shoulder and mimics the pain from a few years ago when I needed surgery.

I had frozen shoulder/adhesive capsulitis in each shoulder at different times. It is hard to diagnose by MRI but the symptoms are pretty definitive so look it up and see if your symptoms match it.

I had tendonitis and bursitis in my shoulder a number of years ago. It never progressed to frozen shoulder, which was good, and eventually, with PT and anti-inflammatories, the issues went away. Then, a year or so ago, I started having what I thought were the same symptoms in that same shoulder. I assumed the tendonitis was back. I mentioned it to my doctor the next time I went in for something, and he immediately knew by the location of the pain that it was not tendonitis. Turns out that I have now have "mild" arthritis in that shoulder. The point I'm trying to make, though, is that I was convinced that it was the same thing I'd had before, because to me, the symptoms seemed the same, but it was actually a totally different issue. I think you should have your shoulder checked out.

Thanks. I'll give it the weekend and if still in pain I'll call and make an appt. Don't want to rush in if it's just a pulled muscle (which I don't think but who knows )

If it doesn't improve, I'd definitely go and get it checked out given your past surgery.

I just had a shoulder manipulation surgery on Wed. for frozen shoulder. Everyone I came in contact, medically, asked me if I had had surgery on my shoulder before. It's not uncommon to get frozen shoulder after any rotator cuff injuries or surgeries, even years later.
I hope you don't have frozen shoulder because I don't wish that on anyone. It's been very painful and the manipulation was very painful (afterwards). But after two days of PT I have a lot more range of motion then I did this time last week. And my pain has greatly decreased already.
