I've never posted a vent thread before. These are all trifling but I guess all of them at once has just pushed me over the edge. 1. Go away tinnitus. Seems like every time I get at all sick these days, I get a bout of tinnitus to go with it. Makes it so hard to think straight. Didn't help that my one important meeting today was in a room with terrible echoey acoustics, so I struggled to follow at times. 2. Enough with jargon. I know sometimes it's unavoidable (and I'm guilty of it myself on occasion) but the unnecessary and 'trendy' corporate speak? There's just no need. Irritating me right now at my job: "a bow-wave of costs" and "task and finish group". Which reminds me, if you're going to suddenly introduce some new jargon that no-one's ever heard before, at the very least explain it, pretty please? 3. So irritated with poorly made/finished clothing. My last two purchases, within a couple of wears had a button loose and a hem come undone respectively. I'm not paying a fortune for my clothes, but it's not the cheap stuff either, and I expect better. 4. I hate public speaking. My legs shake, my voice squeaks, my brain goes to mush. Hate it. So how did I get persuaded to do a 30 minute presentation to an audience of around 100? It's tomorrow, and I'm kinda terrified. Ok, your turn folks. UPDATE re 4 - it's done! It wasn't perfect, I missed a few points and rushed some of it, but also got some really positive feedback. Thanks for all the good wishes

Training a stubborn pup is NOT fun, especially when you have to walk the 2 together (Can't do that until he gets better.), because you just don't have the time to walk twice.

Parents who barge into class, talk down to the teacher and argue the teacher's discipline decision in front of the students are the reason "kids these days" act the way they do.

I wrote an email addressing 3 issues. I sent it to the three people who needed to respond. I copied you, supervisor. Does it really matter what order I addressed the issues in? Seriously, because you didn't read the entire email doesn't mean I needed to change the order in which I addressed the issues...just open it and read it instead of relying on the preview first line. I'm done. I've been doing my job for 31 years and do it well. Tonight was the first time I can remember that I looked at job listings. I can't do this until you retire in 5 years.

The thing about public speaking is that you feel like super woman when you pull it off. Good Luck!

I have some very petty gripes. I own the fact I'm irrationally irritated:
1) Attention stupid drivers. Please learn how to properly navigate a four way stop. It's not that difficult. You are all idiots.
2) Dear Disney World : Oh how I hate your resort pricing games. Because of the stupid way you do your pricing and your agents don't seem to know jack, I think I'll be the only person in the hotel that's paying full rake rate. Just give everyone the damn discount and stop playing games. Trust me. This is the first time I'm going to get screwed by Disney and it will be the last.
3) DH. Please finish the floor of my new craft room. And the bedrooms. And the hallway. And the closet. If you can't or don't want to do it, fine. I'll hire someone. Signed - your loving wife who has run out of patience. (See above aggravations)
Wow. That felt good. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

The last 3 days you have really gotten on my last nerve. You do not need to tell me how to train others to do your job, you are not all that great at it anyway. I will gladly handle the next few weeks of subs to not have to deal with you and your constant talking. I look forward to the day I can talk to parents without being interupted.

Oh, one more...
TX, I hate your weather. I have lived here 42 years, and need to move. It is still February, and we have mostly had Fall temps all Winter, and are now getting an early Spring. The allergies and bugs have already started, and are going to be absolutely atrocious.

This is such a minor vent, but here goes.....
Dear radio stations,
Yes, I know Adele has a beautiful voice & is the it thing right now, but....
Can you please, just maybe play a few songs that are not Adele?
Signed,
Lavender
I changed 3 different stations during my 7 minute drive to Kmart, all playing an Adele song. I'm sorry, but I'm over it.

Dear MIL, your 10 year old daughter does not need to be taken out of school for a week to stay with us so you can have a getaway with FIL. She needs to learn how to behave so you can leave her at home with your 12 year old daughter and 27 year old daughter and not disrupt her routine. Spending a week at my house will not make any permanent changes to her behavior because we all know as soon as she goes home to you, you will let her get away with everything under the sun. No, I will not take a week off of our homeschooling to entertain her. Yes, you will send a copy of your medical insurance card so we can seek medical treatment for her if necessary while you're gone. No, it's not disrespectful to ask you to do that. We're not trying to take advantage of you. You are responsible for her medical bills. We're actually trying to make it easier on you if indeed we do have to take her to the doctor for any reason.
Oh my soul. It felt good to type that out!

Did you hear about the other job you applied for?? She's a district employee and apparently snuck in the bus ramp door, and no one questioned her in the hall because she has a district badge. She's not a teacher but is based at another campus, and boy is her principal going to get an earful from mine tomorrow. And no, I never heard back. Disappointed would be an understatement. I thought it went so well. I did send a professional email last week just asking how their search was going and reiterating my interest, and got no response.

Mine is to my head. Can I PLEASE have a low-ish pain day tomorrow? I have so much paperwork (medical bills, tax stuff, a utility bill to straighten out, etc.) that I really need to deal with. I need to be able to concentrate without my head pounding to accomplish these things. I'm good for simple tasks with a pounding head but when trying to figure things out, not so much.

This is the second time recently that I have been over charged at the grocery store. Of course I don't notice until I get home (tired from shopping) and don't want to drive across town for the refund. From now on I plan to check my receipt in the car before I leave.

We flew all the way to Chicago for dh's treatment, but his platelet count was too low to receive his infusions.
I missed two days of work, plus airfare and hotel. Drat!
I am venting because he chose not to have his labs at home, like he usually does. Now he is upset with himself.

I've had tinnitus for several years, and it is annoying! I can still hear just fine. Actually it's like I hear TOO well and all the little hairs in my ears are constantly straining to listen. That's what it feels like.
I have to sleep with a fan at night and just about the only time I can drown it out is when I have earphones in listening to something. I've gotten used to it but I sure wish there was a way to get rid of it. Both my parents have had it for years as well.

Okay, I rarely do this, but here's mine.
I'm an HR Manager at a large retail outlet. I am trying to hire 30 seasonal associates. Because I am in a college town, many of my new hires are students, away from home for the first time. Parents - I understand WHY you've sent your children away with a photocopy of their Social Security card, birth certificate, etc. I do. But when they apply for work and have to present I9 ID, I cannot take a photo copy. I MUST verify that I have seen the original document and verify that to the best of my knowledge, it is the genuine article. I MUST do this within 72 hours of their date of hire in order to be compliant. Please, please, help your kids and me out. I WANT to give them their first job. I WANT to be able to help you both out. But I WILL NOT verify ID that I know is a photo copy. I have had more kids come through that either totally panic on the phone when I tell them I have to have an original document or who panic when they decided that a photocopy was what I really meant and it would be okay.
If they are responsible enough to strike out on their own, then please help them be responsible for their important documents.
Thank you -
HR Lady

Back off momma, your kid doesn't need you anymore.I know you say you love him and that you are trying to help but it's time to LET IT GO. If you loved him so much why would you manipulate him with the beat-up piece of junk car. Have you thought that dangling the keys in front of his face then telling him the requirements for getting the car makes him feel dumb and manipulated. Don't you see that your son has grown up and doing so much better. He's paying (mostly all by himself) his own rent, food, living expenses. But because he's needed a little money to cover the rest, you make him feel stupid. Kids have to start somewhere. Why not celebrate the fact that he's had a good paying job for five months now instead of nag him about getting a second job or get the boss to give him more hours. Don't you see that he's doing the best he can. Momma, just go away for a little while. He knows what is best for him but you are in danger of being disowned. And you know it. Pushing him into a corner will get no one anywhere. He's found a great paying/good benefits job for this summer. What do you say? Well yeah he just wants to make a lot of money and have fun. He's good at that stuff but he needs a real job.
Thanks for the reminder. I texted your son today to see how things were going. He was so excited to tell me about his exciting (job) news. I told him I was so proud of him for his hard work and motivation. He needs some positive in his life from his parents, you know, those people who should love him unconditionally. And what's the deal with calling me to update me on the bad things he does, which mostly didn't happen. I don't want to go to lunch with you anymore if all you can talk about is your bad, bad, disappointing son and tell me how my daughter needs to go away so he won't have her around to take him places. You want to micro-manage everything your son does and expect me to pull my daughter out of college so you'll have more leverage when you have him cornered. Do me a favor and knock yourself upside the head with a rock and then let's talk about how they are both 22 and we need to stay out of their relationship and their lives.
Whew! What a vent-vomit..
