I feel your pain with that. I have permanent tinnitus, and it affects my hearing. I hear lots of high frequency tones that mask other sounds so I can't hear them. It is very annoying when trying to concentrate. I feel your pain. I have permanent tinnitus as well but only in my left ear and it comes and goes in my right. How lucky am I that I have two different pitches? Hate it, hate it, hate it. Not a darned thing that can be done for it either. Mine is a perfect middle A. I could tune my violin to it.

Everything this week was double my expected cost- 1. taxes (we sold my folk's house - my inheritance) this year. 2. Going On a cruise with friends of ours. They offered to share discounts with us. Now the fine print- we don't qualify for their discounts & we will pay full price. Not sure what to do.

Dear friends, you asked me to teach a class, rather you begged me to. So I go the trouble to set it up, I write and rewrite instructions, introduce myself to the shop owner, spend hours on prepping and then only one of you shows up??? I get that life happens, but only one?

Insomnia, you're killing me! I am so tired I can't think straight. I've made myself get up when DH does because I think getting up at a set time every morning will help me get over this round of insomnia, but it isn't working.
I am so irritated with BoA's auto loan dept. They have given my mom a hard time with the loan on Granny's car. Mom sent them the paperwork regarding Granny's death and her role as executor of Granny's estate, and asked about how to proceed with paying the loan on the car. Would they allow us to finish making the payments or did we need to pay it off in one lump sum and if they wanted the lump sum, what was the final payoff?
While we were waiting to hear from them, we continued to make the payments. The bank finally acknowledged they had been notified of Granny's death, but made no comment on anything else in Mom's letter. My brother and I are paying off the loan for Mom, so we've just kept making the payments. We're not only current, were actually ahead a couple payments.
Yesterday Mom gets a letter from a bill collector stating that the bank has turned the debt over to them, and the car loan needs to be paid or the car needs to be returned. There was no acknowledgement that the payments have been paid nor was an address given where we should send the payoff. Also, the payoff info was out of date because I've already made this month's payment.
The look and tone of the letter really upset my mom, which truly pissed me off. If the loan people would get off their asses and answer our very basic questions, I would pay the loan off immediately. There is no reason to threaten a grieving seventy year old woman. Asshats!

Parents who barge into class, talk down to the teacher and argue the teacher's discipline decision in front of the students are the reason "kids these days" act the way they do. WTF??

You do not pay tax on the whole sales price.

2. Enough with jargon. I know sometimes it's unavoidable (and I'm guilty of it myself on occasion) but the unnecessary and 'trendy' corporate speak? There's just no need. Irritating me right now at my job: "a bow-wave of costs" and "task and finish group". Which reminds me, if you're going to suddenly introduce some new jargon that no-one's ever heard before, at the very least explain it, pretty please? Ok, your turn folks. Thank you - we have enough Acronyms! Why must you continue to add or change the ones we have just gotten used to.
Everything old is new again - the latest they brought out of the cobwebs is GRPPI - just for fun lets call it GRIPEE and pretend it is a new way to plan for change! We all know that Goals, Roles, Process-Procedures and Interactions is what gets the job done. We are doing all of those things to get to your "Theory of Change"

I've had tinnitus for several years, and it is annoying! I can still hear just fine. Actually it's like I hear TOO well and all the little hairs in my ears are constantly straining to listen. That's what it feels like. I have to sleep with a fan at night and just about the only time I can drown it out is when I have earphones in listening to something. I've gotten used to it but I sure wish there was a way to get rid of it. Both my parents have had it for years as well. There is a new med for it. Really? Do you happen to know the name of it? I will be having my physical soon and would like to ask my doctor about it.

Parents who barge into class, talk down to the teacher and argue the teacher's discipline decision in front of the students are the reason "kids these days" act the way they do. How do the parents get in? I'm not sure parents are allowed to go to classrooms while classes are in session at my school (although I've never tried). And that scenario you just described boggles my mind. Who DOES that!? ETA: Nevermind. I read your subsequent post. What a b*&!

Okay, I rarely do this, but here's mine. I'm an HR Manager at a large retail outlet. I am trying to hire 30 seasonal associates. Because I am in a college town, many of my new hires are students, away from home for the first time. Parents - I understand WHY you've sent your children away with a photocopy of their Social Security card, birth certificate, etc. I do. But when they apply for work and have to present I9 ID, I cannot take a photo copy. I MUST verify that I have seen the original document and verify that to the best of my knowledge, it is the genuine article. I MUST do this within 72 hours of their date of hire in order to be compliant. Please, please, help your kids and me out. I WANT to give them their first job. I WANT to be able to help you both out. But I WILL NOT verify ID that I know is a photo copy. I have had more kids come through that either totally panic on the phone when I tell them I have to have an original document or who panic when they decided that a photocopy was what I really meant and it would be okay. If they are responsible enough to strike out on their own, then please help them be responsible for their important documents. Thank you - HR Lady Here's a funny story for you... I DID send my college age boy off with his SS card. And yet, in starting a new job recently he texted me the other day asking me to send him a picture of his SS card. I asked him why? and then kind of panicked thinking maybe I was wrong in remembering to send it with him. His answer? He didn't want to go to his storage unit where his card currently lives. I swear that boy lives in a different world than the rest of us. So as a mother who really is trying to send her kid off into the world and to be responsible for his own bad self, it just doesn't always work. (just as an aside, can you use the copy and e-verify the card as a back up?)

I spent $90 yesterday to have a gorgeous flower bouquet sent to a friend who is recovering from a long illness. I sent it on behalf of another friend and myself. I knew they were delivered and I heard nothing from the receipiant. Even texted last night to see if she got a "special delivery." Still nothing. So then I start worrying that the flowers were delivered to the wrong house.
So I texted the friend I included on the card letting her know that I was still waiting to hear from the sick friend and I hope the flowers made it. She replied that she got a voice mail thanking her for the flowers! I haven't heard a thing!! My name is on the card so there is no mistake I had a part in this gift.
But, I guess it is the thought that counts, right?

Ugh, right now I'm thinking some very not nice thoughts about my oldest. He's smart. He knows his stuff. He aces his tests. When he does turn in his work, it's As and Bs. Except when he doesn't. Science is one of his favorite subjects but so far this trimester, he has managed to have not one but THREE big labs go missing. Despite As on all of the quizzes and tests, he currently has a D- in the class. He's 5 fucking points away from an E. WTF? We're nearing the end of the trimester. Ex is a loser when it comes to enforcing anything school related. Every week I get an update and every week, I tell DS get your shit turned in. He keeps telling me he has but obviously he hasn't! I've grounded him for lying. I've grounded him for the shitty grade. He doesn't drive yet so there's no car to take away. Taking his phone away did nothing. Taking his laptop away did nothing. Grounding him from band activities will do nothing but make his grade in that class suffer. He has no friends so there's no social life to take away. The teacher claims she is organized and has never lost a paper. I've emailed her and asked for a meeting. DS is lucky I have about 4 hours to calm down because right now, I want to shake him as hard as I can. Failing this class means he will not be allowed into some of the other classes he wants to take but no, he doesn't get it. I was going to research local driving schools but I'm sure as hell not going to do that now!

This is the EXACT same thing, except we do have driver's ed scheduled. I tried to reschedule but the other class is full.

My vent: I wish people would actually READ their email before replying back. I sent out an email to 8 people yesterday that said "Please update your travel report - you need to add the hotel cost - a copy of your receipt is attached that indicates the total cost of the hotel to be added to your report" I double checked and I did actually include the receipt copy on all 8 of the emails. Of the 8 people, 6 of them replied back with either "Can you send me a copy of the receipt?" or "What was the total hotel cost?"
