I injured my elbow in April falling off a ladder. I've been to chiropractor, dr, cortisone shots, ice, heat, etc. I started physical therapy on Friday and can already tell a difference. Therapist also had me. Buy one of the elastic bands with a little pad/pressure point thing and it helps way more than I could've imagined.

I had it once. It was awful, especially as it was my left arm, and I'm left handed. I took NSAIDS. Sorry, I have no other suggestions. I hope you find an effective treatment.

I can't take NSAIDs either, but I can take Tylenol. That could help with the pain. You could also do heat and/or cold, and I encourage you to get physical therapy. PT always helps when I need it. I hope you feel better soon.

thanks! The older I get, the less I like the fact I can't take NSAIDS.

The fastest treatment is to go to an ortho doc and have a steroid shot. I have recurrent tendonitis (that's the fancy word for tennis elbow) and even knowing what would work, I still don't get the shot, LOL, so I understand if you don't want to go. They have a band that you can buy at WM (or anywhere like that) that has a velcro adjustment for tennis elbow. You wear it about 1-1/2 below your elbow. It puts pressure on the muscle/nerve to help the inflammation. Sports creme helps too and it doesn't stink.

Tennis elbow is usually cause by a repetitive rolling motion of your arm for the elbow to the wrist inward. Figure out what you are doing and stop! Sometime a wrist brace plus a elastic band will help. Usually rest is best and discontinuing the repetitive motion. If you are playing tennis, a couple of lessons should correct the wrong motions. Seeing and ortho will help-injections and recommendations for physical therapy to correct the damaging motions and strengthen the muscles. Surgery is very rare and usually causes more issues than fixes. Rest your arm and take it easy. Good luck!

I needed a steroid shot. Worked quickly. Would do it again if needed.

I suffer from this also, and have had 2 cortisone shots in the past 4 years. I have suffered from tennis elbow off and on for 20 years! I can't have another cortisone shot because of the damage they do to the surrounding tissue. The shots did work, they just eventually wear off and the pain comes back. I have hurt so badly this summer, that I have been wanting surgery, but I am trying to rest my arm and change some of the things I am doing. I have 2 friends who had surgery and they both said it was successful.

My Dad had this and if he ate a grapefruit every morning it didn't hurt. During the summer he ate canned grapefruit, not sure if it is still available. Sounds silly but it worked for him.

I have tendinitis really bad in both elbows and shoulders. I found that wear a band (I found mine at walmart. The wrist ones were to small but I found that the knee bands work great for me) on the arm mid way between the wrist and elbow helps but you have to wear it every day for months. link

I may just pick one up. I was stressed today and its so weird how it can act up.
