I don't slather on the lip balm enough because I can't stand how it feels on my mouth, so they just keep getting chapped over and over again. Then I pick at my lips and they start bleeding. Argh!
Just had to vent. I've got balm on now and it's driving me nuts, LOL.
Anybody else feeling all dried out? My skin's dry, too.

try straight coconut oil! I make my own "stick" with beeswax (from my sisters bees) and coconut oil. That's it! You can add in vitamin e oil if you want but I find that makes it kinda sticky. It works awesome on anything that is dried out- hands, elbows, ankle bones (am I the only one who gets dry ankle bones?), lips, whatever.

I know you all find this gross, but the oil behind your ears or along side your nose is the best oil. It is free and you won't be allergic to it

Vaseline is my preferred lip stuff. Not only is it protective, but I get to pretend that I am wearing lip gloss too.

I'm another one that likes using coconut oil in place of Chapstick and lotion. I need to try mixing it with beeswax, good idea!
I guess one good thing about not having a true winter here, my lips never get chapped.

If you live in an area with low winter humidity try running a small humidifier in the bedroom at night. It helps my overly dry skin a lot! I bought a cool mist "vaporizer" at WM for less than $40 several years ago.
I dislike chapstick, lip balm and even lipstick so I understand that. When it is really cold and windy I make sure to wear a scarf and pull it up over my mouth while I am out. That seems to help (althoug we don't have a lot of winter weather here so I don't know how you feel about wrapping up your face where you live)

That sounds so painful. I'm the opposite, I hate how my lips feel without something on them so my lips are never chapped, even in winter. I have the little tubes of Vaseline Lip Therapy in my car, purse, desk, makeup bag & by my bed. I would just go buy 5 of them. I like to use Burt's Bees Lip Balm at night because it's thick & doesn't come off. Good luck!! I hope they heal quickly!

I have been having the same problem. It seems the more chapstick type stuff I used the worse it got, so I now use coconut oil. I have a big jar and also bought an empty jar in the travel section and scooped some coconut oil in it to have at work.
At night I do a sugar scrub on my lips and then rub on some coconut oil before bed. It's worked wonders.

Put A&D ointment on your lips at bedtime. They'll be better in the morning. If you can, apply it throughout the day too.

As much as I resisted using it for a long time, vaseline really does have some curative properties to it. I don't really have a cold, but it's that time of year where the constant temperature changes make my nose run, and even the softest tissues were starting to irritate it. A little vaseline smoothed on between my nose and upper lip has really helped. It was also very helpful for a split lip, and it was much more effective for healing a cracked fingertip than neosporin was (much to my surprise).

YES! I saw my doctor and dentist about the dryness. They said drink more water. (I am drinking a whole 4L so a gallon of water a day) and still dry. What I had to do was suck it up and put Vaseline on and it worked! I had bleeding cracks on my lips and believe me they weren't pretty. Water and Vaseline and you don't have to use a ton, just make sure your lips are always covered. Remember as well I am the anti grease person. I wear oil free makeup and I still do. I just put more on now. I am always putting on hand lotion, too. I live in a wet climate, too, and I am this dehydrated! It is weird!

I feel for you! When I was 11 we moved from Honolulu to Napa in December. I kept licking my lips because it was cold and had the worst case of chapped lips in history! It was awful. I, too, hate regular Chapstick. I use a variety of things but good old Vaseline at bedtime seems to work the best.

I use neosporin when they are particularly bad and their lip line. I bought at least 10 different products and find that regular burts bees works best for me. Good luck.

Ugh! Mine were so chapped this week that it triggered a couple of cold sores. I'm pretty miserable right now.
I need to keep up with exfoliating/moisturizing. I like the little tube scrub from E.L.F.

I don't use anything on my lips daily but when I need something I always use Burt's Bees. I love the stuff. It isn't waxy like Chap stick and it isn't heavy and greasy like a lot of the others. It only takes a couple times of using it and my lips are all better. I keep a stick in my purse, one in my night stand, one in the craft room, and one in the cubby in the consul in the couch. I use it more when needed faster when I have them where I am most of the time and think about it. It is some times hard for me to get up for the little things like that then when I wait to do it when I have to go tot he bathroom I forget.
My bottom lip gets more chapped than my upper lip.

I tried Bactroban, polyps iron, and something else in the drawer. The best was Vaseline. I hate it so I just put on a smudge but it worked. My lips are in good condition.

I use A&D every night before bed. I usually only get really chapped when I'm also dehydrated. I also have a little Carmex jar in my desk that is filled with A&D.

My suggestion is to use Carmex every night before you go to sleep. It's cheap, and it's the BEST!

I despise chap stick but found that I LOVE Lucy Minerals Ambrosia Lip Dip. I keep many of these around the house, and just put it on constantly. Keeps my lips SO nice. It's clear, smooth, not sticky, etc. lucyminerals.com/ambrosia-lip-dip/

I'm very dry, especially in winter, and I can't stand the feeling of dry skin anywhere at any time. Unlike lots of peas, I much prefer the feeling of heavy lotions and creams on my skin. It feels like a layer of protection. I moisturize every inch of myself the minute I get out of the shower or wash my face or else the dry feeling drives me crazy!

Wow, awesome ideas here! I think I may be a little dehydrated, I was busy on Friday and Saturday taking care of a friend who had oral surgery and I didn't get nearly enough water. And I do use Burt's Bees balm, and it's definitely better than chapstick. But I think I may bust out the coconut oil. I always forget about that stuff.

I am awful about remembering to put something on mine, but when they get bad I use Bag Balm. It has been my family's "Windex" (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) since before I was born.

I didn't find coconut oil stayed on well - if I put it on at night, my lips were just dry again in the morning. I like the idea of mixing it with beeswax! thanks!
I use a lip balm by Melaleuca at night - looks like chapstick, but has a nicer balance of creaminess for me.

Yes. My skin, lips and eyes have been so dry. Before I go to bed I put on lip stuff, skin moisturizer, and eye drops. Same deal in the morning.

I have used Original Udder Balm lotion for years and love it. They now also have lip balm and I've used that some this winter.
