Good Monday morning ladies!! I hope you all had a successful weekend! My weekend was awesome. I went to a party, ate what I'd planned one eating, got in some exercise one of the two weekend days and all around had a super successful weekend. And the scale showed it! I'm down 2 lbs this week and it brings my total to 20.6 lbs total!! We're off on a day of running around - dh has a few things to do at MIL's and then off to BJs for a big shopping trip. Back home to clean up the house the rest of the way and finish up laundry. DD is having a friend spend the night tomorrow night. Hope you ladies have a fantastic start to the week!!

Sounds like a good weekend, Brandy!
My weekend was ok. I had the Chinese food Saturday but should have been within my calories since I had only had 100 calories to that point. It always makes me retain water, though. Yesterday I didn't really watch what I ate but did some extra snacking at my friends KEEP party. Not horrible but I am up a few lbs today. Going to focus on eating lots of veggies and drinking my water. Have been slacking on that the last few days. Getting ready to workout as soon as DS leaves in a few minutes.

Great work this weekend, Brandy, and congrats on the loss!!! I lost 3.2 lbs. between Wednesday when we were finally home from the hospital and this morning. I pray I can keep up a 2 lb. loss each week as I move ahead. I am taking the puppies to dog camp, then to the grocery to get some much needed food or I will be off track. Then taking DD to the doctor for the 3rd time since she was released from the hospital, and hopefully home to relax a bit before getting the dogs. Enjoy your day girls!

Sounds like you all had a successful weekend I ate Chinese on Friday night and woke up really bloated, as I always do after eating Chinese :/ I've actually been maintaining my weight fairly well these last few weeks----yay! My next goal is to get my lower body toned up but I'm really not sure that's possible at my age (almost 50). I do no weight training at this point and would have no clue where to even start with that. I'm thinking that joining a gym and working with a personal trainer (at least at first) would be the way to go but again, is it even possible to look good in a bikini at 50 (and I know some people don't think anyone over 25-30 should be wearing a bikini but I think if you look good you should go for it ) So can anyone with experience in this area chime in? I'd really appreciate some input, TIA!

Morning! I was a tad bummed at the scale yesterday (and only because I obsessively get on it every morning) - Friday I was down 2 from last Sunday, and yesterday it only read a 0.5 lb loss. But I promised myself I would only count the Sunday scale numbers! So far so good - staying on track has been easy for me now that I'm in the routine of it 50 days in. I may experiment with a low carb bread recipe today: Low Carb gluten free breadI'm using natural peanut butter in place of the almond butter, as that is what I have on hand! I'll report back with how it goes....

Cake Diva, What an interesting bread recipe! Please let us know how it turned out-----I tried so many GF bread recipes and was not happy with any of them, but this one is totally different than anything I ever tried (no yeast or flour!). Can't wait to hear what you think

Another Monday-ugh! The weekends just go way too fast! Today's plan is to jog 3 miles on my treadmill and do a short ab work out- crunches, reverse crunches, and plank. Will eat an egg scrambled with cheese when I'm done savoring my coffee . Almonds for morning snack. I have left over chicken and steak skewers and brussel sprouts for lunch. Grapefruit mid afternoon (the no sugar added segments I found in the produce section make me so happy!!! I love grapefruit and this makes it so much easier). Dinner will be pasta sauce over zoodles. Have a great day friends!

I am going to go to the gym in a few minutes. I had my protein shake and I am going to eat some tofu for breakfast (because I like it!!!) and then go. Today is not a high intensity workout. I was told no more high intensity workouts. I like the competition with myself. I wish my heart rate wasn't so high. The medication I take causes an increase and I like to do intensive workouts. I like challenging myself to go faster and steeper and I love the way I feel AFTER I finish. Today I guess I need to do leg weights. I wouldn't say I am that excited about doing them but it won't kill me either.

Good morning! I had a terrible diet/workout weekend! An AT&T tech was at my house to install a new alarm system, and he drilled through both hot wires to my dryer and blew out the power to my whole house. It was out for over 24 hours, so I had to toss out all my food and pretty much ate out all weekend. On the plus side, I met up with some of the Houston Peas for dinner on Saturday night and we had a blast!
I have Orangetheory after work today, and then I have to pick up my son from band rehearsal at 7. Hopefully I have time to pick up a few things from the store to make some healthy meals this week. Needless to say I'm super upset with AT&T!

No good weigh in today after my birthday weekend extravaganza!!! I knew going into the weekend that today was going to suck! But Monday is my official day so I can only put down today's numbers. I am up 2 pounds from last week. I had several cocktails this weekend and that always does it to me. Plus cake, pasta, cookies and French fries. Things I never eat anymore!
Back at it this morning with my boring old eggs for breakfast. Kickboxing tonight. lunch- salad with greens, feta, walnuts and balsamic vinaigrette and one hardboiled egg snack- cutie dinner- caprese stuffed chicken in foil packets. Hammer out a chicken breast and wrap up mozz cheese, tomatoes and basil inside, Place on piece of foil, top with chopped veggies, wrap up foil into packet and then bake in the oven.

So the bread is done. It rose higher in the middle than the edges, so my end pieces I think I will have 2 small for a serving count.
It is a tad bland - I wonder if salt would have helped. I can faintly taste the peanut butter, the almond may have been more neutral.
But it would be good with sandwich fixings I think!

I have to admit that I am struggling a bit with attitude right now. I was on the 5:2 Facebook page and there are so many stories of people who have lost considerable amounts of weight (and have before and after pics that show a noticeable loss) since Jan. I lost three lbs last week but gained it back now, but otherwise haven't lost anything since the week before Christmas. I know that I just need to keep going and that there will be good days and bad days, but at times I also feel like I will never get to my goal or have a noticeable weight loss (I have lost 10-14 since fall and nobody has noticed). On a positive note, I ran some intervals on the treadmill this morning instead of just walking. I wanted to get my heart rate up higher. I hate running but I lived. . I procrastinated too much this morning so will need to do my BBM workout tonight. B--greens with Vega essentials powder, kefir, cashew milk, 1/2 banana, PB2 L-salad with spinach and Mann's power food blend, edamame, Panera Asian dressing D--pulled pork with bun, Brussels sprouts S--raw veggies with 1T Greek yogurt ranch dip; raspberries and strawberries

I haven't seen that recipe, and it is by far the most realistic bread I've seen. I need to do the math to see total carbs rather than net carbs, but that looks promising.

I entered it on My Fitness Pal as a recipe - so I entered ingredient by ingredient. the entire loaf lists 36 grams of carbs. I aimed for 15 servings (I got 19 slices, but some of the small ones I'll use 2) so it worked out to 2.4 per serving!

I'm a fan of Isopure and looks like they make an unflavored zero carb. Major thanks for sharing this.

I'm sure this week will be the week, but you never know! My period is due Friday, so that is going to play all kinds of fun with my numbers. I seem to always hit 190 and then drop off the wagon. I really don't want to do that this time. But I'm taking it one week at a time - my first goal was to break 200. And my next goal is to break 190. I need to keep it small to keep motivated!

I agree with the small goals. My first goal was to be below 150 by Christmas. I have been hovering between 151-153 since a few weeks before Christmas. Last week I weighed 149 but now today was back to 152.6.

super frustrating isn't it? That's what makes it so easy for me to fall off the healthy eating wagon> If I'm not going to lose it anyway, why bother?

I forgot to me mention that I also started a workout/success journal. I bought the journal from TJMaxx and then decided to add some other things to it to make it more fun. I printed out some motivational quotes and will put them on each page. Here is the first one so far.

Good day today. Last night I dove into some crackers...not a good idea. I ate until I was stuffed. I wish I hadn't, but it's over now and I started with a clean slate this morning. Food-wise, it's been a good day. I baked some brownies for the kids' lunch yesterday. I cut into them this morning and then cut the rest and put them in the freezer. OMG! You don't know how much I wanted to pop one of the "too small to package" pieces in my mouth. I managed though. All in the freezer, none in my mouth. That's a win in my book! I don't think I'm going to get exercise in tonight. I have a ton of papers to grade and I'm trying like crazy to get them done--interim grades are due Friday. Dinner is Crock Pot Chicken Cacciatore. Not sure what I'm serving with it--probably rice. It's 5 Smart Points according to the site I got it from, but I'm running it through the WW recipe builder to double check. I tried another recipe from the site and it came up as being more than her calculations.

Thank you for the suggestion Patter. I don't own any weights so it could get expensive to buy what's needed plus Beach Body scares me lol---my fiance does Shaun T. and I've tried it but it's just too hard core for me :/

And you can certainly do it without weights in the beginning. Form is extremely important so getting that down first without weights is always recommended. I used to be a certified instructor years ago so my stash of weights, etc., is pretty nice. Tony Horton is not bad if you want to start easier. Not all Beach Body is bad.

I think I'm going to join this thread I'm trying to get back on the wagon - I've totally been letting myself slide in the past few months. I lost about 25 pounds 2 years ago, and I've mostly been maintaing, but I can feel myself sliding into old habits and my weight is creeping up. Trying to get a handle on it now. I did make it to the gym this morning, so I'm proud of myself there, but it's National Margarita Day and my husband mixed me up a nice one to celebrate, so... Well, at least I got the workout in! Even at my lowest weight, I'm not comfortable in a bikini (I'm 47). But, I've managed a 2 piece with a higher bottom (nothing is bringing my lower stomach back and the stretch marks from child bearing aren't pretty). Anyway, have you tried Pilates? I go to a small personal little Pilates studio and I can definitely see a difference, plus the support of the other women and my instructor are great. Give it a try! Tracy

Well, I actually wear a bikini now---sort of----usually wear boy shorts type bottoms though-----I would love to be able to wear a "normal" bottom and not feel self conscious though. I live in a pretty small town so don't think we have a pilates studio here but I will check---ty for the suggestion!

Hey girls! Sounds like everyone has a good plan set out for Monday. I got in my first run in 3 weeks today--my back feels fine, but it is 80 degrees outside and the heat made everything slow and miserable. Happy to have run, but geez Florida... 50 is absolutely not too old to want to achieve your goals! This is Constance. She's 77 and I adore her. youtu.be/q9RtihpHMcA Put in the work to find something you love, put in some more work, and you'll see results. I'm working on getting some bad habits in check this week, specifically my post-dinner "dessert". We got rid of a lot of candy after Valentine's Day but more keeps showing up and at night it's too easy to have "just a few...more." Going to purge some more junk and stick to my dark chocolate mini chips. Hershey's does me in!

Hey ladies. No complaints here - just plugging along. Going to dinner with a friend tonight and I'm getting FRIES! I don't eat many potatoes these days, so that's a treat for me. They better live up to my expectations... I had to decide between a bun on my burger (turkey/bacon/avocado, yummm) and fries, and fries just sound so good. Even "budgeted" for ketchup, which sounds ridiculous, but the carbs in ketchup really add up with how much sugar is in it. If it isn't as good as I'm expecting, Imma ditch it and get Whataburger on the way home On a more productive topic, I've really found that I HAVE to get my exercise & a few other daily activities in before I start working (I work from home, but even when I'm traveling to). I'm a total lump in the evenings.
