DH and I are on a long "do what we want to do" vacation. We left Moab this evening and are heading into Albuquerque. I think we want to stay there for 2 or 3 nights.
Any suggestions on an area to stay? Would like something close to some cute shopping or an artsy farsty area.
What about things to do? We might make a day trip to Taos or Santa Fe but it will just depend on what moves us at the moment.

We stayed at the Parq, an old hospital remodeled into a very cool hotel.
We were there for a wedding and due to flight delays didn't have an opportunity to explore the city, so I am no help there. Enjoy

It's been a while since we visited Albuquerque. We stayed at Nativo Lodge and enjoyed it. It wasn't in a happening area but I seem to recall it was in a location that was easy to get to. My brother-in-law got married in Old Town and we really enjoyed the sightseeing there. As we were in town for a family wedding, we didn't have a lot of time for other sightseeing.

Thanks for the replies. I was able to secure a cute casita (Airbnb) right in Old Town that we can check into late tonight and stay for 3 days. Looking forward to putting our feet down in one place for a few days. We've been hitting each place for 1 day/night at a time and while it has been fun, it would be nice not to repack the car each morning so we can checkout and move to the next adventure. Looks lIke there is a train to Santa Fe, so we might take advantage of that.

Be careful...didn't Bugs Bunny take the wrong turn at Albuquerque and end up the South Pole instead of Pizmo Beach? Ha!

For sure go to Santa Fe. You will love it. Such a neat town. Glad you are having such a great trip. Rain here today. Lots of it!

It snowed this morning here in Santa Fe. Not a lot, though. Just enough to make it really pretty.

Oh I love Santa Fe. You should definitely go there and wonder around.
We always stay in Santa Fe - we were married on the rooftop La Fonda Hotel, but have also stayed at the Inn of the Loretto, and The Hacidena.

Old Town, a trip to Santa Fe and a trip up to Scandia Peak. We also did a day trip to a Native American Mesa which was fascinating.
