Hi,
Let me start by saying that I know these lenses are way above my pay grade, but I have them because I was trying to help a friend out. She is a professional photographer who needed money fast, so she "sold" me her camera and these two lenses with the understanding that she would come back with the money in a month or so. She did come back for the camera, but decided she no longer needed these lenses and walked away. That was more than 5 years ago. I've used them a few times, but they are just more than I know what to do with.
I want to sell them, but I have no idea how to value them, where to sell them, or how to go about making sure they arrive wherever in the condition they were in when they left me. The lenses are:
Canon EF 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6L IS USM Image Stabilizer Ultrasonic. It is one of the white professional grade lens, and it comes with the lens cap, hood, and a padded carrying case. I believe it also has one or more lens covers to keep the glass from getting scratched and to do something with the polarizing. (See, I told you - more lens than I need)
Canon Ultrasonic 17-40 mm EF f/4 L USM with lens cap and hood. I think this one is black.
Both lenses are in the original box they came and they appear to be in great shape. I used the white one to take pics of my DD when she was on the water in her kayak. Even in motion on the far side of the race course, the photos came out great.
I went to KEH and Ebay and tried to figure out the value of each lens, but I'm not sure I'm comparing apples to apples. Any suggestions? If you were selling a lens, how would you ensure that it arrived in the same condition it left? If you were buying, how would you want to handle the purchase?
I really appreciate any input y'all can give me. I promise I'll slink back to my click and point after this.
Marcy
