Assuming you use a top sheet, so the duvet cover is not functioning like a sheet, how often do you wash your duvet cover?

I thought the point of duvet covers was that it did the job of a sheet

Unless it is a very cold night, we just pull back the duvet and hang it off the bench at the end of our bed. I probably wash the covers every few months. I'm sure some Peas will be appalled, but seriously we hardly ever use the thing.

I'm in the every 6-9 months or so, although if these damn night sweats keep up, I may be moving that schedule up a bit.

I use a top sheet, so I wash the duvet cover as often as needed. Cats get on the bed so I wash it if it gets furry.

In the winter I use a top sheet, a blanket and a down duvet - we keep the thermostat set really low. In the summer I use a top sheet and a quilt. I wash the duvet cover 2-3 times a year.

We use a top sheet, blanket and a duvet. All bedding is washed weekly, except the blanket and duvet cover, which is probably every 2 weeks.

We use a top sheet and a blanket, so I treat the duvet/cover as a comforter. Sometimes we sleep with it and other times we push to the end of the bed. I wash it when the mood strikes, which isn't that often. I find it a real hassle to get the duvet in and out of the cover.

I can't stand a top sheet under a duvet. When I visit my parents the bed is made up with a top sheet and the thing nearly always acts like a snake and wraps itself around my feet by the next morning. I usually find that out when I attempt to get out of bed, then I remind myself how much I dislike top sheets and take the thing off.
So my duvet covers are washed every week.

I always use a top sheet, so change/wash my duvet covers every quarter. I just basically go with the seasons because it makes it easy to remember - and also work in with putting in a heavier/lighter duvet, spending on temperature.

We also use a top sheet and a blanket with our duvet. The cover is more decorative, so we don't have an all white bed. We wash it 3-4 times a year.

I use a top sheet, so I wash the duvet cover as often as needed. Cats get on the bed so I wash it if it gets furry. Ditto. My sheets get washed weekly, but the duvet cover goes in only when it's beginning to look like it needs a good wash.

I have two duvet covers and also use a top sheet in the American fashion. I alternate covers and change them every month, unless the dog somehow gets mud on it. Then I would change it immediately.
