Just wondering how many of you are regular visiters to Pinterest.
It seems to be a daily relaxation place for me where I can see and pin cool ideas for pages and cards. Lots of inspiration there. I follow a number of manufacturers so lots of new stuff to look at too.
Anyway, you can find me at Pinterest HERE If you have a spare minute, check out what I have found!
And if you are on Pinterest, please pass on the link so we can check out your boards as well.

I know a lot of people use it and I like the concept of having your "bookmarks" collated and organized for easy access but the actual use of pinterest drives me insane! Links to dead webpages, pictures with no content/explanation, ads and spam everywhere! It seems like when I google scrapbook terms, pinterest is always at the top of my search results, making it so hard to find stuff! I also feel like pinterest encourages "pretty" over content (which may be the purpose?) but when I'm looking for crafty things, I'm looking for how-to's and explanations, not just blown out white photos of someone's overstyled desk with no explanation of how they completed the project. Does that mean I'm doing it wrong? It's so popular, how can I think it's so bad?!

The social aspect of it is maddening because half of the pictures people pin seem to be from Tumblr with no attribution.

Does that mean I'm doing it wrong? It's so popular, how can I think it's so bad?! I don't think there is a right or a wrong way to pin. I usually just pin the page layout or the card design. I am not usually looking for instructions, and feel I can lift the page if I ever get back to it.
But I DO have a board on techniques, and I don't pin there unless the link to the instructions work at the time I am pinning.

I love pinterest! I have one account for school and one for scrapping stuff. I dont worry about most of the scrapping links being dead or not since I just use it for inspiration. I do try to make sure the is working though. I Scrapbooking one is www.pinterest.com/msnickerdoodle/

I'm mainly a recipe pinner- it's my "cookbook". I browse while I watch TV at night. I really need to reorganize some of my boards. Here's mine.

Yes, I used to be on it so much that my husband who would want my attention would have to be told, "sorry, honey, you're not pinteresting enough for me." Luckily, for my marriage I'm not on it as much now, but when it comes to scrapbooking, I'm not looking for how to's and really just need the picture for inspiration. Here's mine.

My Pinterest- www.pinterest.com/faerydreamsI am a daily vistor to Pinterest. My Pinterest is pretty big but I do use it to store ideas and to keep track of items I have. I hate going to a store and buying something I already have. For example I collect dolls so I have all my dolls listed. With the variation of dolls coming out sometimes it's hard to tell if I already own one of those dolls. I also keep listing of my games so I don't buy doubles. For example do I own Darksiders or Darksiders 2. Pinterest keeps me from doing stupid things when I am out shopping. I also use it when I am at the craft stores. If I saw a technique I love I can take a peek at the technique if I am trying to remember what I wanted to do and I can buy my items accordingly. Pinterest is my lifesaver research and reference tool. I do love looking at boards and finding new things. I try to keep track of my dead links. In the early days that was so much easier. Now, it's a bit harder. A lot of times I just want the picture, especially for my home decorating. I was worried about the dead pins then I started pinning dead pins because it was something that inspired me like a pillow I wanted for my home. I hope I am making sense. I do maintain my pins and keep things well organized. I am getting tired of the spam and ads on Pinterest. My DH & I have both been ranting about that. The Picked Just For You is getting out of hand on Pinterest. I pinned something a couple of days ago and then Pinterest pinned it back to me telling me I would like it. Thanks Pinterest I already figured that out, lol.

I use Pinterest to keep track of ideas and recipes I like. It's a great filing cabinet for me. Like ellewood , I find too many pins go to spam or the home page of a blog. I always click through to the original source before pinning. And most times that's a dead end. Plus I hate that the home page is mostly "picked for you" pins that have nothing to do with my interests. Isn't there a way to opt out of that? One of these days I need to go through and clean up my boards and delete stuff I won't make/bake/create.

I love Pinterest! In fact, I'm just finishing up the curriculum for a class that I designed for my older adult students. Here's a link to my boards: Pinterest

caspad , I spent several weeks clicking through the "picked for you pins" saying I wasn't interested. I had to click on EVERY ONE of them but eventually they stopped showing up. I always marked that I don't care for picked for you pins. I was also getting so many ads that were really gross. I changed my location (in 2 places in my profile) to Qatar and amazingly, no more ad pins! I haven't seen a picked for you or an ad for months. Here is a link to my boards. It's mostly scrapping. www.pinterest.com/nyleneb/

I used to pin every night. I have backed off a bit, but am still pretty frequent. I don't like some of the changes Pinterest has made and find it less relaxing now.

nylene I tried doing the same thing you did - I clicked on all the Picked for You pins and said I wasn't interested. They went a way for a while but were back a few weeks later. Maybe I'll change my location too! unless of course Pinterest starts to realize "oh we have lots of people from Qtar, we should optimize our ads for that." maybe I'll just say I live at 15 Yemen Road, Yemen with Chandler Bing. I've also noticed that on the home page it shows me people and boards I know I don't follow. There's a handy "unfollow from all XX's boards." but when I click on that person, I'm not following any boards to begin with. GAH!
