Age, no, that's not it. What I don't understand is how you get the quote marks around the text that you want, rather than the entire message. I really am hopeless at anything technical. There are a couple of different ways. You can either press the quote button next to the post you want to quote. That puts the whole thing in your reply box. You can then delete any bits you don't want. This method will include the poster's name etc in the quote, and sends them a notification if they have them turned on. OR Copy the bit of a post you want to quote. Go to the reply/quick reply box, and press the the quote button That will insert the following text in your reply (without the spaces after the open brackets) [ quote]insert quote here[ /quote] Select the 'insert quote here' part, and paste the text you'd copied in its place, making sure the bits in brackets - including the brackets - aren't affected. This method doesn't include the poster's name unless you add it yourself, and doesn't notify them.

Molly, I was explaining how to get an unwanted quote OUT of your message (once selected as in the screen shot, you hit DELete.) If you just want some text quoted in a quote box, select the text you want (highlight it, then copy or CTRL+C), hit the quote button on the editing ribbon (the one that has the word "Quote" in a bubble), backspace over the default text that is in there (it reads "insert quote here"), and paste your text in there (paste CTRL+V). I guess I don't understand what it is you want to do. Becky

I like this site so much better!
I was talking with my coworker today about a client who had been laid off. I mentioned that in my life experiences at the time of some big change, we get upset, but usually (not always) things end up being much better in the end. I feel like that applies here too!

No, you aren't doing anything wrong, sometimes there's no space after the quote. That's when I hit the BBCode button, go to the end of the text there and hit the return key and then you can either start typing there or hit the Preview button to go back to the regular screen. At that point the cursor will be after the quote box and all is good in your world. that's what I've been doing.

Arrrggg, no, that's not it. What I don't understand is how you get the quote marks around the text that you want, rather than the entire message. I really am hopeless at anything technical. molly, do mean 'quote marks' like this " " or
[ quote] blah, blah [ /quote] ? (without the extra space I put in each 'quote' w/in brackets )
could you just 'copy' the part you want to quote, paste into the quick reply box and add the [ quote]msg you copied and pasted in here [ /quote] the other pea's name won't show and they won't get notified with this tho.
I've just been deleting the email msgs I get. I thought it was just that someone else added to the thread, not that they quoted me... guess I'll read the email next time!
