Do any of you scrappers use embossing folders on your pages? I'm trying to use mine more, but I have no idea how to incorporate it! It looked kind of silly when I tried to emboss a piece of cardstock to use as a layer.
Help!

I don't have any answers, but I'm posting so I can be notified about other responses. I don't even know how many embossing folders I have, but I know how often I am using them now. Never. I'd like to change that.

Kateroar on youtube often incorporates embossing on her layouts. I love the way she does it.

When I paper scrapped, I would cut letters for a title with Cricut or Quckutz then embossed them for texture.

I've embossed a piece of cardstock and then attached it to my layout, but I've never embossed directly on the layout itself.

I use embossing folders for cards but rarely, if ever, on a layout. I'm going to have to check out these videos and see what she does with hers.

I have.
And I need to make a point of doing it more.
I like having a textured layer.
I also like to emboss a piece of paper, then make die cuts and punchies (larger ones, like flowers & butterflies) out of it.

I mostly use them for card making rather than layouts, but like the idea of adding texture to titles etc.

I have a bunch of them that I need to use more. I've seen all kinds of neat ideas for cards but not so many for layouts. I'll have to do a Pinterest search and see what comes up.

Hmmm, a lot of us seem to have this problem. I feel like there HAVE to be some awesome ideas out there! I will have to do some searching when I get some time later this week.

I don't use my folders enough. Most often on cards. Diecutting shapes or title letters before or after embossing is my most common way to use embossing folders on a LO. Sometimes emboss the matt for a photo or journaling block. Inking the folder before running cs through adds to the feeling of texture. Can also double emboss: brush Versa Mark onto the high parts of a dry embossed piece, then add embossing powder and heat with a heat gun. The only way I could imagine embossing directly on a LO would be the old fashioned way, using a couple of stencils and a stylus: don't know of any embossing machines bigger than about 6" width. There are some cool ideas on last week's Paper Wishes Webisode

There are some cool ideas on last week's Paper Wishes WebisodeThe bigger 12" wide Big Kick could do the bigger embossing folders, also isn't the Spellbinders one wider? I did a Pinterest search earlier tonight and a lot of card ideas came up but no so much for 12x12 layouts. There were some things that looked like they could work. There was a technique called embedded embossing. The examples that I saw showed punched circles layered on top of another piece of cardstock, then the whole thing was run through the folder. The result was that the top layers look embedded into the bottom layer. I think this technique would work great for chunkier diecut letters layered onto mats and run through the machine. It could maybe make some neat borders too. Another thing I saw was a sun with pieced rays that were cut from different colors of cardstock and each one was embossed with a different folder. I could see how that could work with strips of cardstock, embossed and pieced together.

I'm new to embossing, since I just recently got a little Sizzix.
One of the cool techniques I just made is from Tom Holtz's January tag, which is embossing some foil tape on a tag then distressing it with paint. I'd show it to you, but I'm still waiting for my CHA order of Picket Fence Distress Ink, since the chalking technique didn't work out as well as the embossing.
The links everyone shared look promising, and I'm looking forward to checking them out.

I've only used my embossing folders on a couple of cards so far. Like everyone else, I'd like to use them more.

Like others, I mainly use them for adding texture to titles & die cuts. I have also used them w/tags that I'm putting other embellishments on.
I have used them to add texture to the photo mat, but only on photos that I trim down smaller than 4x6. I have a Cuttlebug, so the biggest I can go is 5x7 and that only leaves an inch border for a 4x6 photo, which doesn't often allow you to get the effect of the texture.
Curious to see other people's ideas!

I like to emboss for texture too - on letters or punched elements or on pieces of paper that I'll use for layering. My favorite thing to emboss is vellum though. And I love the look of acetate, but haven't ever done it myself. I think you've now inspired me to pull out some acetate and an embossing folder.
On regular cs or pp, I also like to add ink to the EF before adding the paper and then it stamps the ink at the same time. I've never tried it with vellum since you'd have to use a staz on styled ink and that would be way too difficult to clean for lazy ole' me.
