You type in the title of a book you like and it gives you recommendations based on that book. I guess there are other sites out there that do this but i think this one is cool. My niece had it pinned. What Should i Read Next?

Great site! Tfs. I usually have a list of books on my wish list from the reading thread here. So many great books I've read after peas have recommended them but I can use the site you listed after I really like a book to get something similar. I'm sure I will be using it a lot

I like The Literature Map you type in the name of an author you like and it shows you a map of other authors who write in the same style - those closest write the most similar way and the names further away are less similar. Each time you click on a name, you get an ever expanding map of authors. Then it's a matter of looking up their books and deciding what you want to read. I've discovered a couple of new to me writers this way. Works best if you like a particular genre.

Thanks! I have several dozen books lined up to read on my Nook, but it would help me decide which one to pick next. If I've just read maybe a Stephen King book, I'll usually try to find something with a totally different tone, so I could search out a book similar to a Jojo Moyes novel.

Ohh, this looks good! Just tested it out with the title of one of my favorite books and got a list of 20 or so. In scanning through, I saw several other books it recommended for me that I've already read from that list and loved, so I think it does a good job of picking similar books. And I like that you get a list of descriptors so you have an idea what the book is about. Might head to the library later!

I have used that site before. I need to try it again. I keep forgetting about it.
pjaye, your site sounds very interesting. I am going to check it out. It sounds like the site could lead you down some interesting paths.
When I am on Amazon looking up a book, I love to scroll down to the "people that bought this book also bought" area. I have found some wonderful books by doing this.

Thanks! Always love a new source for great books. I've used pjaye's link before - and that's a great way to find new to me authors. I'm also addicted to Fantastic Fiction - it's kind of like IMDB for books lol. It lists current releases and upcoming books, so I know when to be on the lookout for new books from favorites. It also has author pages, which is probably the best source I've found for finding all(or mostly all) of an authors works - and especially has the series listed in order by book. I'm super OCD about reading series books in the right order. At the bottom of the author pages they have a list of about 10 or so authors that are of a similar nature. Another great way to find a new read or two. www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/

I don't know about how much I'll use this one. It's missing some of my most recent reads, and some of the suggestions were a little...bizarre?
I put in "This is Where I Leave You" by Jonathan Tropper and one of the suggestions was "Bringing Up the Bodies" by Hilary Mantel. I HAVE read that, but I don't know how a Jewish cuckold sitting shiva after his father's death relates to the relationship between Thomas Cromwell and Henry VIII as they plot yet another marriage (in a sequel to Wolf Hall).
The Literature Map site looks pretty interesting.
I still rely on Amazon suggestions quite a bit. The algorithms seem to be working pretty well in terms of suggestions, while still providing some new stuff I hadn't come across.

I'm going to play a bit with this site: WhichBookIt lets you put in some parameters and gives suggestions, lets you search by author, title, and has some pre-built lists (or you can build your own).
