DS went tubing with his iPhone in his pocket on Thursday. DH held it up to the vaccuum for a while and then put it in a zip lock filled with 1/2 rice and 1/2 Damp Rid, checking it every 12 hours. After the first twelve hours, it turned on, received a text and a call, but had visible water damage on the screen. Same thing after the second 12 hours. Then we went away and left it in the bag for almost two more days and the water spot was gone.
However, we've plugged two chargers into it and they both now are black on the sensor area that inserts into the phone, and when they're attached to the phone (the wet one or others), a message flashes that the charger is not a supported device and may not charge the phone - and the phone plugged into it does not charge.
Has anyone experienced this? Will a new/another charger burn out on the previously wet phone? Hoping we can get away with the price of a charger or two rather than the insurance deductible for the phone.

Sounds like the phone is toast. I would worry about a fire starting or someone getting badly shocked.

If the phone was turned on before it was completely dry it is probably done for.
