I meant to update: My charge went through for $5 even though I asked them to cancel. I made sure to save all emails (the first showing the receipt for $0 when I initially used the code and the second convo saying the $5 wouldn't be charged after I cancelled it). It's true, I'm lucky I'm not international! It's only $5 (or $8) but it's the principle of the matter... I'm prepared to send this to the credit card company if required.

Well. I am *so glad* April chimed in and just made it all better.

So I was reading the thread over on SC message boards. Someone said there were trust issues since last spring/summer. Obviously I know there are lots of problems but I didn't know there was one particular incident. Can someone fill me in? Is this thing with the $5/$8 as bad as it was before? I am really curious now!

Do you have several days to read through the whole 316 pages of SC refugees thread?? There were a bunch of things, but mostly the change from the old shipping structure to "shipping included" was handled by poorly informed CS employees and within 48 hours there were several posts that included the wrong information. I'm not sure where that is in the refugee thread, but probably closer to the beginning.

SC has a big problem with telling customers one thing will be happening, then changing the terms/items included/cost after its been announced. Then when people are pissed, then hand slap and tell sections of their clientele that they are not important to them.
They selectively edit posts and delete things they've said/done. I trust them about as much as I trust my ex husband.
Personally, if SC says something, I sit back and watch and wait. You can almost bet that the things they announce are not correct and will be changed without notice. I thought they were getting better but apparently not. Its a craps shoot when you deal with them.

I aaaaallllllmost took the bait with the whole free kit promo, but I knew it would go awry, and I'm not convinced that there won't be issues later in the month.

I'd still dispute the charge with your CC and say they charged more than you authorized. Let the CC deal.
I'm glad that SC thread is here -- not only did it make for some crazy reading, but saved me from any of their craziness. I won't buy from them.
