I would like for Sarah Palin to shut up forever. I'd vote for that. Can I add Michelle Bachman? And let me add Obama!!

I have a history degree...and one thing I really, really, really wish I had paid more attention to is the civics class I took in high school. Back in the dark ages, it was called Americanism vs. Communism, but I know that I have forgotten WAY more than I remember.
I should probably check one of the colleges that provides free course work and see if there is anything out there. Maybe a government class?
And just for giggles, I remember watching Richard Nixon's resignation speech. I remember being bored, but my grandmother telling me that it was history and I should at least pay attention.

Republicans are thinking that they will control the Senate after mid-term elections, and that is when they would move to impeach. I know that there are elected officials who do want to impeach him, but I find it hard to believe that they would be so foolish-again. But maybe I am giving them too much credit.
And that is why we need a strong turnout in November!

Yesterday morning I was watching Sunday Morning on CBS and they had a piece about Nixon and his tapes.
It was interesting as I guess he was so paranoid as he taped every conversation in the Oval Office.
While watching it occurred to me why the Republicans are so hell bent on impeaching Democratic Presidents.
The Republicans have still not gotten passed what happened to Nixon and they want to find a Democratic President that they can point to as being as much of an embarrassment to the Democrats as Nixon was to the Republicans. I believe the Republicans want to find a way to force a Democratic President to resign like Nixon.
Such a waste of time and money.
Personally, is spite of Sarah Palin, I don't think the Republicans will impeach President Obama regardless of what happens in midterm elections. They have their eyes on the 2016 Presidential election. So while their base wants to impeach The President 2/3 of voters are against impeachment. Democrats of course are against impeaching the President but more importantly so are the majority of independents who the Republicans need to take the White House in 2016.
But we will see I guess.

According to the story Kennedy and Johnson did tape what they considered important conversations like The Bay Of Pigs and Vietnam. But Nixon taped every conversation. The piece didn't go into what the current crop of Presidents have been doing.
Maybe it's the norm now but from what I understand it was not during Nixon's time.

Well I was under the impression that it was ongoing practice albeit perhaps sporadic dating back to FDR as a mechanism to back up transcription of conversations. I'm fairly certain, it has become standard practice. Although I'm not all knowing in this area.

Yes Nixon got nailed for deleting 18 minutes on a tape.
Like I said the story did not go into what The Prrsidents of today tape or don't tape.
The story was about recently transcribed Nixon tapes and the fact he taped EVERY conversation while Kennedy and Johnson (LBJ) didn't.

I'm no fan of Boehner, but I can tell you, the promise of implementation and then delay is very much effecting health care access and viability for providers. It's a sticky wicket for sure to balance implementation to not have undue burden on businesses, while trying to maintain access within hospitals and providers from closing doors.

Actually, if I were President, I would too for transparency.....

You must read, or have WAYYYY different FB friends then I do, because it's NEVER ever been mentioned on FB, or anywhere else I read? That's just odd! What in the world would they be impeaching him for? They do remember the Clinton impeachment, don't they?! I think there are plenty of things they could impeach Obama for that are much more serious than what went on under the desk in the oval office with an intern. There are certainly a few scandals to pick from for the current administration.

What a terrible waste of time and money. It's hard to believe that House leadership and their party who have spent the last five years doing pretty much nothing but voting to change and/or repeal the ACA 50 times thinks this is a good way to spend their time now? and the taxpayers money? What a ship of fools.
------
I understand how you feel this way. I think impeachment waste of time. Also repeal of ACA. But what I can tell you is, the President hasn't done the industry of health care providing critical access venues any favors by changing the game by executive order either. There are reasons both sides are doing what they are doing.

Yes Nixon got nailed for deleting 18 minutes on a tape. And so what about the IRS "missing" thousands of emails... Just follow that up the chain of command.

Oh heavens, it's not just "wishful hoping on my part". YEARS worth of emails suddenly disappeared mysteriously at the same time that the IRS was under investigation for following orders from the executive branch to target conservative groups. Many Americans find that to be more than coincidence.

He was impeached for committing perjury and obstructing justice. Has Obama done that?

He was impeached for committing perjury and obstructing justice. Has Obama done that? Very true. It was more about lying under oath than sexual scandal. However, lying under oath is not the only reason for an impeachment so we can't just use that standard alone. I don't think Clinton should have been impeached over Lewinski or lying about Lewinski. I think Obama's situation is much more comparable to Nixon. FTR, I don't think Obama will be impeached. I do think he has some things he should answer for, but has surrounded himself with people who won't challenge him.

I have a friend who is helping to spearhead the efforts to try to fix the website (he is private industry) and he says that it won't even be close to ready for enrollment if the small business exchange isn't delayed again. In fact, I would say his demeanor when talking about it is very similar to panic.

Indeed. That's what is being communicated to us as well. Place this within states that have not adopted Medicaid Expansion, there will be an increase of hospital closings that will increase and further put a strain on access.
While I wasn't a fan of the ACA passage, and largely due to the exponential change and unintended consequences thereof, the health care industry in this country is far to into it to not strive diligently to try and make it work. Sadly, what this scenario sets up, is more concentration of access going to large systems. Our community hospitals are dying a slow death of a 1000 cuts little by little.
