Oh! I love that article. Great news! Today began the Official training for the Nike Women's Half in SF on Oct. It's been a little while since I've had more than a goal for my yearly mileage, so I'm excited. Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!

My goal this week is to stay on track with my runnin plan while on break. I did 5 today and have to run 2x in a different place. I hope I can stay on track and not be lazy!

I ran 4 miles this morning. I'm hoping to run again Wednesday and Friday mornings. We are going to VA Beach this weekend, and I don't know if I will get a weekend run in or not. I'll bring my gear - they have treadmills at the hotel, but I'd love to run along the beach if there is a suitable path.

Today was a cross-training day for me, so I just got back from a 45 minute bike ride with DH. Looking forward to my run with my group tomorrow!

I've been working on distance to get ready for my 5K, so this week I'm going to start working on upping my running intervals. I did a 3 min walk 30 sec run for the 5K. I'm hoping to do a 2 min walk 1 min run by the Glow Run later in August.

Lilibug, is this your first Nike race? I ran in DC, and it was amazing! You will have a ball. I can't wait to hear about it.
I met friends last night for Lagers and Joggers…it is a fun run that starts and ends at a microbrewery in town so I was able to get a training run in with friends AND have a nice cold microbrew after the run. I have a track workout planned for tonight. I rested last week because of some nagging injuries, but I was getting antsy with the weather being so beautiful and got out last night. I can't believe how cool it is right now. Perfect running weather.

I get in 5 miles a day of walking between walking the dogs, the treadmill at the gym *yay* and walking myself when it cools down. I am back at the gym which is good. I missed it and love being back. I need to fit back into my gym clothes. So much eating during the July season of Ramadan. But must work at it hard. I am not training for anything other than better health.

I was super impressed with how seamlessly a race can go... Nike really has it together. Some of the expo stuff was incredible too, I had no idea what I was walking into and to see my name in huge moving letters as I walked in was amazing.
For anyone debating putting in for the lottery, it is well worth it.
Love seeing how many of you are out and moving with all the exercise! Keep it up! Off to run my 5, have a great day all!

My favorite part was the timing mat at about mile 12. After crossing the mat, you turned a corner and BAM! There was your name on a huge jumbotron with a motivational message. Mine said "You're killing 13.1 Kymberlee!" Exactly what I needed at that point 'cuz I was ready to be finished. I wasn't fast enough with my camera, though. A lot of people complain about the cost of the race, but it is $$ well spent if you like big, well done races. I'm so hoping I get in next year.

Sometimes it's fun to run in a new place but sometimes it's just hard to figure out where to go! elaine - have a great time at the beach! I'm pretty sure there is a very long stretch of sidewalk right next to the beach, but it's been awhile since I've been there. bdawnb - We're having similar weather - such a gift for July! mom2emilytaryn - Hope your group run goes well! octoberbeauty - Good luck upping those intervals! MaryPea - Sounds like an awesome run this morning! Kymberlee - Hope you have a good run tonight & enjoy that beer! Sometimes I wish I could run at night so I could join one of those groups that has beer after a run. Delta Dawn - Great job on getting in those miles! I have avoided running since I finished my 10 miler on Saturday because I ended up with a huge blister that I haven't wanted to make worse. Plus my hip flexor was feeling rather tight, so I thought it would be a good idea to skip my run this morning. I'm sure I'll be back out there Thursday & it sounds like it will still be nice & cool which is awesome.

Goal for this week (and the next few weeks) is to stretch more. I'm super lazy with stretching. I NEVER stretch. Ever. So this week I decided I'd start simple and just do my legs after running. Why do I hate it so?

I got 4 miles running and 2 miles dog walking in by 10 am this morning. It was so nice and cool!
I am frustrated by how fast I can get out of shape. My upper thighs are definitely feeling it this afternoon, even though it was only 6 miles total this morning. Just a couple of months ago 10 miles was no problem. Between cutting back my mileage in the heat and then 12 days off because of my wrist, I appear to be the world's worst runner at training for a half marathon. Thank heavens Disneyland and Anaheim are flat!

ooh, can I join? just getting back to the gym after a 3 year hiatus. I really hate the first few weeks of getting back into a routine - the soreness, adjustments to getting up early, not to mention it takes my body forever to catch up to my motivation level!! I am just walking for now (yesterday and today), but I can tell how out of shape my legs are!!! My hips and shins are sore, so I plan to stretch tonight.

Y'all, it is so freaking hot here that I haven't run in a week, and when I did, I think I sweat out about a gallon! We are getting a "cool" front, so I think it may actually be in the low 90s but still with humidity in the 90% range. Is it possible to make the treadmill any less boring?

I got 6 miles in today and I'm hoping to get another 6 in tomorrow.
I'm contemplating sucking it up and adding hitting the gym once 1-2 week as my goal for August. I know I need to build muscle to loose this muffin top. I just hate that whole beginner everything hurts stage/don't know what I am doing stage. If only there was some way to by pass that, I'd be there in a minute.

I have a question for long distance runners. I'm in a sorta quandary about a race. I am training for a half marathon which will be on Sept. 13. There is a 20K race that many of my running buddies are doing on Aug 17, and I am considering doing it with them. Right now, I am at about 9 miles on my long runs and will be at around 10-11 on my training plan that weekend. My plan was to repeat the long runs each weekend i.e…run 9 mi/two weekends in a row, run 10/two weeks in a row, on so on until I hit about 12ish. I didn't want to get much more than 12 miles in training just because of nagging injuries that I always seem to fight when I bump up my miles. If I run in this race, it will put me 1)a little early for 12miles and 2) a little bit more than I planned on running on my plan.
Clear as mud? So, WDTPT? Should I go for it or stick to my plan? I hate to miss the race AND it is a medal race. Am I over thinking this? FWP, I know. :-)

I'm walking my first half marathon on Labor Day so I'm just now getting into my long weekend training walks. Last Sunday was 7 miles and this Sunday is 8. Never thought I'd consider a 5k a "short walk."

Great job to everyone getting their miles in!!! Did my 5 today. Tomorrow is a cross training day so my mileage for July will be 121.9 miles- a little low but I put in more speed and elevation work than usual so I'm happy with it.

The rain is seriously messing up my running day. I couldn't go this morning. "I" could run in the rain, but I'm not going to make my 6 yr old sit in the rain and watch. So, guess I'll be a day off this week and go tomorrow. I really need a treadmill! lol I'm hoping my Dad will let me borrow his for the winter, so I can train for the PHM.
