If so, was it for fun or for another reason?
I have family members that did this to help stop smoking and for weight control. Neither had very much success.
If you have not, would you consider it?

It was attempted but was unsuccessful for pain management.
My sister had it attempted for repressed memories unsuccessfully

Im considering it for weight loss. I have a lot of emotional issues way down deep that I need to work out. My N.O.T. recommended a session or 2 to see if it will help me relax and look that far back.

Research has consistently shown that it doesn't work for things like weight loss or smoking cessation. It isn't going to program you to do anything. All hypnotism really is, is structured deep relaxation. Research has shown that it can be helpful with pain management, but that is it and not with everyone.
Anyone who claims that hypnotism can do anything for you except MAYBE pain management is just after your money.
And I have received training in hypnotherapy and have a certificate somewhere for my training that I filed away somewhere and haven't seen it since. I use it to help people relax - especially clients who suffer from anxiety - but that has been it.
