I love my Fiesta. I don't find it heavy, just sturdy. With all of the colors, it's easy to mix and match. If you aren't into having multicolored dishes, you can buy a whole set in just one color. They have lots of colors to choose from, including white. I like that they are solid colors, because I would definitely get sick of a pattern after a while. I hadn't thought about getting sick of a pattern, but I agree now that I think of it. I think I will stick to a solid.

I'm not a Corelle fan - it feels like eating off picnic-ware to me.
Our everyday dishes are Churchill "Blue Willow." I love the classic blue & white.

I buy Ikea dishes. They are not expensive and when enough of them chip, I get a new color. I'm not sold on keeping the same dishes for years and years. My tastes change, my decor changes, and I don't want to be tied down to something I spent a lot of money on and feel guilty when I want new stuff. We also don't have a dishwasher, so they get more banging around than most people would have and a set of them will last me years and years before I replace them. Melissa I hadn't thought of Ikea! I will check them out!

I love my Fiesta Ware. Prior to getting Fiesta ware I was using some Correlle that I had picked up from who knows where, but it just was not my style. We use this for everyday. I figure since I put that much money into 8 place settings, I might as well use it. And I just love drinking my coffee from a colorful cup

I use China for everyday. I have a set of plain white Mikasa that I've been using for about 25ish years. China is very durable and lighter weight, plus I got these when there was a Mikasa store in the outlet center, so was very inexpensive. I also have another set of Johnson Brothers China that I got from MIL--they were a gift to her when she got married, but she was afraid to use because it is 'China'--that I also use as everyday dishes.

I had Phaltzgraff that I loved and used for over 30 years (16 place setting plus just about every serving piece they had). Only two plates ever chipped. I also have the Winterberry pattern that is that old for Christmas and not one piece is chipped. Then a few years back I decided to "upgrade" to Napoli - nice and bright, a bit lighter weight. Well, just about every plate, salad plate and fruit bowl has chipped. The company had sold and production is now in China instead of USA. You can tell. My BFF also bought the patter and has the same issues. So, just before Christmas I jumped on the Fiesta bandwagon and have no regrets. I was hesitant because of the weight, but now I don't find them too heavy at all. I love them and started the collection around the colors Napoli since my pasta, gusto and vegetable bowls are in great shape still. I love mixing and matching.

Been using Corelle for all 44 years of marriage. It lasts too long and I get sick of it! But most of the time it's just Dh and I and we don't always eat at a formally set table, so having something nice for presentation is not an issue. The Corelle is pretty though and they have a nice variety of patterns.
If I was looking for an upgrade for nicer everyday or semi-formal entertaining, I would look at Fiesta or a similar off brand set.

We have two sets of everyday dishes because we keep kosher.
Our dairy set is Villeroy and Boch twist 3. I love the mix / match look. We have been married 13 years and have replaced 1 rice bowl because dd dropped it when she was emptying the dishwasher. My mom has since bought a Villeroy set for her everyday dishes as loves them. I like that they're nice enough that I don't always have to pull out my good China for company.
Our meat set is Wedgewood Sarah's garden. I like the mix / match aspects but I haven't loved this pattern as much over the years as the twist 3. It hasn't stayed as modern feeling. These dishes are thicker / less fine than my Villeroy. If I was buying a new set id probably look at Villeroy again. And I would consider all white. Although I love my twist 3.
Paige.

Corelle. All white. I love it. It's light, easy to clean, doesn't chip. I mean if you drop it from 4 feet up on a tile floor, there is a risk of breaking but for the most part, it's perfect! I have owned other patterns of corelle, but switched to all white several years ago.

When I got divorced, I realized I was tired of the lovely Polish Pottery XH and I had collected, so I left it to him.
I took a set of 4 plain white plates and bowls we had.
I just keep adding to it.. So intentionally mismatched.
I have some from PB, Pier One, Ikea, and CB2. all slightly different but they all go to gather. I find without a dishwasher they chip easier, so its always easy to replace.
I also have some beautiful bowls from a local potter. When we have guests or a special meal they make the table look fabulous.
As someone else said, I do find bone china is much studier than Corelle .

I have Longaberger pottery. I love it. We have used it for 20 plus years. It is very durable. I would highly recommend it.

I got fiestware 4 years ago and love it. Yes, they are a little heavier than some but they still look brand new today and no chips

White IKEA dishes. They have 2 options, cheap and dirt cheap. The dirt cheap scratch really easily but the cheap ROCK (it's what they use in their restaurants). I'm a total clutz, we've gone through more dishes than you can imagine, but even I can't break these.

Fiesta. Love the rainbow and durability. I think it's really a china rather than a stoneware.
All the Corelle we ever tried broke into tiny glass shards that we were forever pulling out of our feet. And this was not extraordinary drops. A couple feet on a vinyl floor. If the wind blew too hard. I am glad others have had such good experiences, but not me.

I haven't read all of the replies, but I will say that I use the same Corelle dishes that I bought in 1984 when I was 17 and bought them for my 'hope chest'. I put them into use when I was 18 years old, so they have been being used for over 30 years. I still have the majority of the set, maybe have lost one or two pieces only through breakage. Now THAT is a pretty dang durable product, having gone through several moves, two husbands and raising a rough and tumble son! I still love the pattern, Calico Rose, as much as I did the day I picked it. I don't think I will ever get tired of it.

For every day, I've come to love the Corelle-like white plates from Target. They're inexpensive, durable, and lightweight. As my other dishes (Pfzaltgraff knock-inherited from my MIL) chip and break, I'm replacing them with the ones from Target. We have a simple china pattern set along with a set of Christmas dishes (also from Target) that we use for the times we want something special. The china hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.

I have Mikasa stoneware in Italian Countryside pattern. Plain and simple in a cream color. Had it for 18 years.

I have 4 sets of everyday dishes: Churchill "Blue Willow", Fiesta, Mikasa's Mediterrania, and all white Corelle. I also have assorted others in white from BB&B and a really cute Frog set that I keep for sentimental reasons. 9 times out of 10 it's the Corelle that I reach for.

Another Corelle user here. We still have the same set we got when we got married over 25 years ago, plus a few extra odd mismatched plates that are older still (lovely 1970's vintage with a burnt orange stripe on the rim). How on earth are all of you breaking this stuff? Ours has been nearly indestructible. We've broken exactly one bowl in all these years.
If I was going to replace them, I would get something similar but plain white. I'm not a huge fan of the 1980's off white, blue and red country design we currently have.

I have Pfaltzgraff dishes for everyday -I picked a pattern that I felt would work for me longterm (Filagree - it's all white) and I've added and replaced pieces as needed for almost 25 years now. It is stoneware but not as heavy as some of the patterns, imo. I dislike Corelle personally yep...cept i have some pattern that has herbs or some shit on it i like stoneware...not corelle...at all!

We have a Pfaltzgraff set for everyday that is not currently made anymore. But it isn't as heavy as some stoneware is, while still being heavier than Corelle.
At the time that we chose this pattern, 2 of Mikasa's casual lines were our 2nd & 3rd options. They were a similar feel. Not terribly heavy, but still had some weight to them.

Another Corelle vote. I had a really nice set of Pfazcraft (sp?) but it kept chipping in the dishwasher. It took up so much room for a stack of plates. I finally found a really neutral pattern of Corelle and have never regretted it.

My grandmother gave me a set of Corelle 17 years ago and I still have it. It's our everyday stuff. It suits our lifestyle well. Compact, unfussy, lightweight. I like that it's durable and inexpensive. I think some people see it as kind of blue-collarish but I figure most people who are going to be snobbish about that aren't going to venture to my house for dinner anyway.
I also bought some pretty secondhand china at Salvation Army. That's for Sunday dinner and when we feel like using something a bit more special. Sometimes that's just Tuesday dinner. The pattern is called June Bride and it's a white on white floral - it's pretty, but it's heavy for everyday use for us.
I personally am just not a fan of Fiesta which I know is Peas heresy but it's just not me at all.
