So I tweaked my knee... and it hurts off an on. Last night it was on, so I got ice, went upstairs and got in bed and watched TV while DH stayed downstairs with the kids and his Playstation.
Got up this morning, went downstairs. Peanut butter sandwich on the floor in front of where DH was sitting with ants all over it, dishes on the couch, the chair DH sits in turned towards the TV (I ask him to put it back when he's done it's a living room not a movie theater) curtains wide open in the entire downstairs, and stuff left out on the counter from dinner last night, oh and 100 windows open on the computer (DS got on there).
And when I mentioned to DH that maybe he should actually watch the kids when he's watching the kids, now he's mad at me.
Anyone want a DH and his Playstation? He's for sale.

I'll consider it. That way I would have a matching set.

As long as the Playstation come with, I'll take him.
If anyone is interested in a 12 year old who knows everything and who's life is ruined by the slightest thing, I've got one of those. Comes complete with sassy mouth and limbs that don't operate properly when there are chores to be done.

you shouldn't have to babysit your husband. That would irritate me too. I could handle the turned chair or the windows open on the computer (Let's face it, that's totally a Monica Geller thing) but a peanut butter sandwich on the floor covered in ants? Totally not cool.

One will piss on things left on the floor if given opportunity and you don't' clean the catbox fast enough. The other one howls to get out, then to get in, then to get out, then to have food, then to have less food, then when you're asleep....

I could throw mine in and maybe have a two for one sale? I would be irritated with him if I were you as well.

No way? What was his response about the sandwich? Was that his or the kids? No way would I'd clean that up. I'd just hobble upstairs and go on strike. The kid or the DH could deal with it.

He'd be so busy bouncing off the walls from the ferocity of my verbage he wouldn't have time to get mad. I'll give you .75 for him but he can't bring the playstation. We don't do that nonsense here. Tell him his first task will be to crawl under the new deck and remove all the brick debris left there by my grandsons when they built the deck. Next he will get to take up old carpeting and put down new. That should about cover my 75 cent investment in him and by then he'll be happy to return to you and be more productive.

Umm, let me think about it a minute. No. While not being married sometimes has disadvantages, when I hear things like this, I like my life alone. Hugs.

sounds like he already has dinner for tonight...
Gaads, I would of gone upstairs and woken him up and told him I really needed help right away this morning. Once he got downstairs I'd let him clean it all up! I wouldn't of touched a thing.
His arms/hands aren't broken....unless of course he tripped over the chair and slipped on the peanut butter on the way upstairs.

I sent an email asking about the computer because I couldn't get the 150 windows to close, and mentioned the other stuff and his response was "so this is my fault?" YES, yes it is! Between his stupid Playstation games that don't have a pause function, and my 11 year old who does not do Daylight Savings and wouldn't get out of bed this morning, I'm about ready to move into my own clean, ant free apartment. Grrrr.

Only you know what makes this man great husband and father material, and I suggest you focus on that. Because there has to be a whole lot good about him to overshadow the fact he leaves those sorts of messes for someone else to clean up, and that someone is the person he loves who is in pain. Yes, it is his fault. No getting around it. The fact he can't see that and apologize is another one of those traits he has in the negative category.

I don't mean to blame the victim, but if you had a dog, the issue with the peanut butter sandwich on the floor covered in ants would not have occurred. The dog would have gotten to it long before the ants.

A few months ago, I could've written your post almost word for word. I had a CTJ meeting with DH and after a huge blow up fight and a week of him thinking it over, he finally realized it and has been so much more helpful ever since.
I realized I had to stop doing everything for him, which I did out of love, and he had to stop taking advantage of my efforts. Now he's much more hands on and does things without me having to ask. I do admit, I helped create the monster.

No thanks. The sandwich on the floor would have put me over the edge, but in my house it wouldn't have lasted ten seconds with our dogs around. In fact the floor underneath it would probably be *look* cleaner than before the sandwich was set down there! But does anyone have a need for a little 15 year old dog that sometimes pees on furniture and poops in the house when it's raining outside? If yes, have I got a sweet deal for you! He's really cute, if that makes any difference...

I can offer you TWO 15 year olds in trade. One boy and one girl. This way you can cover every hormonal fluctuation known to mankind in the span of a few short hours. Every once in a while, if you are lucky, something nice and appreciative will surface. But, those moments are fleeting. Also, sandwiches don't get left on the floor, well, because they are 15, and food is of utmost value to them. Unfortunately, like the previous poster, their limbs don't seem to cooperate at the mention of chores. I'm sure they have a not-yet-discovered anomaly.
Is it a deal?
