Oh I don't think you're jumping to conclusions at all. While I don't like her way of handling it, I would guess she's pretty upset with you, and, imo, she has a right to be. How did you end up with this other photographer? It sounds like it was a gift? If so, and you felt you had to use it, the least you could have done is let the guy know he was NOT to use your photos on FB or any promotional material. It's bad enough you went somewhere else without discussing it with her first, but to actually help promote the other business? Not cool. Not cool at all.

I don't think you did anything wrong. Photography is an art. Different photographers have different perspectives, styles and abilities. You do not need her permission to use another photographer. I know a lot of photographers. Heck, I was even one myself. I never expected everyone I knew to use my services exclusively. Just as a friend who owns a boutique shouldn't expect you to shop exclusively at her store or else get thwacked with passive-aggressive BS. You called her, she danced around it. If anything is uncool, it's her behaviour. Hard to believe she's a successful business person.

Considering your update she most definitely saw it and you're right you were both dancing around the white elephant.
I'd call her back and be straight with her. Tell her you know she saw the photo's on facebook and that yes you used someone else because (I assume there's a reason.) Even if you just wanted to change it up and use another photographer, you have the right to do so!
If you have a reason she'll understand, use it. I'd reassure her you love her photo's (if you do.) And hopefully once addressed things will be better between you.
