I got my yarn for my Attic24 ripple afghan/blanket from Wool Warehouse (UK)
I really like the feel of the yarn (it's 100% acrylic) and did a quick swatch of the pattern, which seems easy enough. I went with the 'cosy' colour pack she has plus a couple of extras. They looked so pretty all laid out & of course Angelique had to get in on the action:
and here's a large photo, to appreciate them fully click to enlarge:
and here's the link to the finished look: Ripple Blanket Know-how. I still have to finish my current one...but that should be by the end of the week and then I can get started on this.

Those colours all look gorgeous together. Isn't planning a new project and playing with the yarn fun?

Isn't planning a new project and playing with the yarn fun? Almost the best part! I remember you said you had 'squeaking' with this yarn and you had me worried, but when I did the swatch I didn't have any issues at all, so I'm very happy. I also got my new Clover hook and I really like using it...it could be a little longer, but that's a minor point and not enough to put me off.

Please do! I went into a wool shop here last week and was chatting to the saleslady and she said that crochet is booming right now and that the crochet classes are currently way more popular than the knitting classes.

As vain as this is to admit, I was crocheting one of my granny squares today and I did have a moment where I thought to myself "my nails look so pretty doing this" Ha! However I wasn't wearing my black feathered cape at the time.

Beautiful yarn!
I'm currently working on a small project with leftover yarn from the big afghan I just finished but am so ready for new colors to work with. I told ds I'd make him an afghan in the fall...looking forward to seeing what he wants for colors!

Beautiful colors. I am so ready to move on to another project but made a personal vow to finish a project before moving on to the next...this current project seems to be taking forever and it really isn't all that big.
Can't wait to see your finished afghans!!!

I am so ready to move n to another project but made a personal vow to finish a project before moving on to the next Yes, I made the same rule for myself several years ago too - no matter what sort of art/craft it is I have to fully complete one project before I start on another one. I had ended up with several half done things so I either finished it or unravelled it or tossed it, once I got all of the 'old' stuff done I decided I wasn't going to let that happen again...and I've stuck to it for several years now.

Beautiful colors, they all seem so vibrant! I love that most about her color choices I think. (Attic 24 I mean). You're tempting me beyond belief to order some of those gorgeous colors!

Looks great, which makes me happy because I literally just (in the last hour) ordered the same yarn pack. I'm on the last couple of rows of my current project (about which more later) so it was time. I also ordered a shade chart so I can pick colours for a temperature blanket.

I love that yarn. I ordered her cosy pack and made the cosy afghan. I've had so many compliments on it and I love it. As do my cats. Ha!

So about how much does it cost to order a yarn pack from her site. I love the packs she puts together.

Pretty colors. I am ready for more color. The two baby blankets I am currently working on are just blues and I am craving more color. I need to finish these before I get my color fix, though.

^^ Thanks. I had never really noticed that you can change the currency over to US amounts. I'm thinking I'm going to order a pack when I finish up my current project. The only place close to where I live is a Joanns - that's usually fine for basic projects, but when I want to do something with a lot of colors it becomes a lot harder.

I thought the price and the postage were very reasonable. Even some of really cheap & nasty acrylic yarn here costs more than the Stylecraft Special DK and that's factoring in the currency conversion. Then the postage worked out to be about $10 Australian, which for 17 balls of yarn from the UK to Au was a bargain I thought. I'd pay the same amount of postage inside Au.
We have great range of pure wool here - but it also comes at a great price. We don't have anywhere near this range of acrylic yarn in so many colours. This isn't going to end up being a family heirloom, it will be draped over the bed to look pretty and the cat will sleep on it & under it...I don't need it to cost the $400+ it would be to do it in pure wool. The whole thing including postage ended up being $55 Au.

I got in my Cosy pack a week or so ago. I'm in the car today- we are driving down to Florida - a 14 hour drive - so I brought it with me. Lily Pond would be too difficult to work on in the car, but the Cosy blanket is perfect. We left three hours ago and this is what I have done so far:

A bonus that you can work on it in the car, I get bad motion sickness and can't look down in a moving vehicle for more than a couple of seconds before I feel sick. Do you like how the yarn feels to work with? Looks like the 'cosy' pack is popular! I plan to follow her stripe order but in the ripple pattern instead.

I received my Cozy pack of yarn a while back and the thing that surprised me was how fine the yarn was. It is thinner than I expected. I guess that is because I have been working with I Love This Yarn which is much thicker. I'm going to make a Cosy blanket after I am done with my Temperature blanket. I can't wait to see your current finished project and then your progress on the Cosy.

I just started the Attic 24 Granny Stripe blanket with the Sunny Pack. I'm 3 rows in and can't wait to get back to work on it.. It is my first big project.
Thank to everyone for sharing their projects.

I had the same impression...the colors are great but I don't really like crocheting with 3.5-4mm hooks. I like the project to go a little quicker. Because I bought 35 rolls from WW, I am doubling up the yarn and using a larger hook for my projects. I like the results much better! Once I use all that I bought, I'm switching back to Hobby Lobby brands.

Do you like how the yarn feels to work with? Looks like the 'cosy' pack is popular! I plan to follow her stripe order but in the ripple pattern instead. I can't read in the car because I get viciously carsick, but for some reason I can crochet. I think it is because I don't move my eyes- I just look down at the same spot and my hands do all the moving. I still have very bad double vision so can't share in the driving. Since DH has to do it all, I promised to stay awake- an impossibility for me in a car unless I am doing something, and even then it is hard. I'm happy that crocheting is working so far! I have been making Lily Pond with the Stylecraft Life DK, which is the same weight, but 25% wool. I am going to use the Stylecraft life to do the upcoming CAL - Frida's Flowers. I find it easier to make things that need blocking using yarn with some natural fiber in it. The wool will stretch and then hold a new shape better than acrylic. I really like the feel of both the Stylecraft Special in this pack and the Lifestyle. Some mentioned finding the yarn light compared to Hobby Lobby's yarn - the hobby lobby yarn is worsted/Aran, whereas the Stylecraft in the Attic 24 packs is DK which IS a lighter weight. For me, making layered blocks, like the flowers in Lily Pond, or very complex blocks, like Frida's Flowers and Persian Tiles, I prefer DK weight. Worsted is great for throws and ripples. I am making the Cosy Blanket blanket-sized, rather than throw sized, and think I will prefer the weight of DK for a larger blanket, although the pattern appears well-suited for worsted weight - you would just want to use a larger hook and make your foundation chain fewer stitches.
