ooh, I like that. Such pretty colours.
I really must start up again. I was on a roll, then I started one for my mother and the yarn was horrible to work with, so I just stopped.
I ordered the yarn Attic24 used in one of her projects a couple of years ago, but haven't done anything with it. The colours are so beautiful and vibrant. Maybe I'll start next weekend (we have too much going on this week to even think about it).

Some mentioned finding the yarn light compared to Hobby Lobby's yarn - the hobby lobby yarn is worsted/Aran, whereas the Stylecraft in the Attic 24 packs is DK which IS a lighter weight. I don't like working with worsted/Aran - we call it 12ply here. I only used to knit with it when I had to. I prefer working with 8ply (DK). For me the enjoyment is the actual making of the project...I don't do it for the end product, I do it because I enjoy the process. I googled those Frida's flowers - stunning! However I can only justify two blankets, after that I'll have to stop.

It doesn't start until April 5th - that's plenty of time to finish what is on your hook right now.

Just not sure if I can justify the time I would spend on it - I have to limit my crochet time to "sitting & waiting", otherwise I'd do it all day long & get nothing else done.
Still....tempting....

Looking great! A bonus that you can work on it in the car, I get bad motion sickness and can't look down in a moving vehicle for more than a couple of seconds before I feel sick. Do you like how the yarn feels to work with? Looks like the 'cosy' pack is popular! I plan to follow her stripe order but in the ripple pattern instead. I can't read in the car because I get viciously carsick, but for some reason I can crochet. I think it is because I don't move my eyes- I just look down at the same spot and my hands do all the moving. I still have very bad double vision so can't share in the driving. Since DH has to do it all, I promised to stay awake- an impossibility for me in a car unless I am doing something, and even then it is hard. I'm happy that crocheting is working so far! I have been making Lily Pond with the Stylecraft Life DK, which is the same weight, but 25% wool. I am going to use the Stylecraft life to do the upcoming CAL - Frida's Flowers. I find it easier to make things that need blocking using yarn with some natural fiber in it. The wool will stretch and then hold a new shape better than acrylic. I really like the feel of both the Stylecraft Special in this pack and the Lifestyle. Some mentioned finding the yarn light compared to Hobby Lobby's yarn - the hobby lobby yarn is worsted/Aran, whereas the Stylecraft in the Attic 24 packs is DK which IS a lighter weight. For me, making layered blocks, like the flowers in Lily Pond, or very complex blocks, like Frida's Flowers and Persian Tiles, I prefer DK weight. Worsted is great for throws and ripples. I am making the Cosy Blanket blanket-sized, rather than throw sized, and think I will prefer the weight of DK for a larger blanket, although the pattern appears well-suited for worsted weight - you would just want to use a larger hook and make your foundation chain fewer stitches. You are a bad influence . I went to look at the CAL again and actually think I like lily pond better. Do you happen to recall what colors and amounts you ordered for it? approximate cost? How did it compare to what you ordered for Frida's Flowers?

I would love to have someone I can chat with to do this CAL with me I'm happy to 'listen' while you talk about it and more than happy to look at progress photos But I live in a small apartment and there is a crochet overload limit! Once I have a throw for the sofa and a bed blanket, I'll be at that limit. beyond that I'll look like I'm living in a the cat lady craft cottage...not a good look...lol I also have my crocodile stitch booties planned and some doggie coats to donate to a shelter, so I'll still be hooking I went to look at the CAL again and actually think I like lily pond better. Do you happen to recall what colors and amounts you ordered for it? approximate cost? I just happened to be looking at this! The PDF of full instructions in both UK & USA versions is HERE (just scroll down after the flower bag)

Thank you!
(and the lily group is sold out - uuurg) They still have the Lily Pond kit in Stylecraft Life! This is the kit I am using, because it is going to have to be blocked, and a little wool in the yarn helps that immensely. I did buy it when they had it on sale a couple of months ago- but it is still reasonable. I have finished 6 of the 8 blocks so far, so would be glad to offer any tips, etc.

Careful Pjaye.....wool warehouse and attic 24 are addictive! I have done coast pack, cosy pack and am on square 13 of the sunny pack I have cottage pack and harmony pack waiting...and now she is doing cupcake colour way.....and I know I will need that too. I think the yarn drapes beautifully once it is worked up and makes a beautiful cosy drapey blanket And I agree ,postage to Australia very reasonable

Cosy continues to grow.. An hour outside of Disney World: An hour? Wow, 52" would take me about 15 minutes per row. You must be fast!

That is what I've done in the car from when we left DC yesterday until 60 miles outside of Disney (an hour left in the car). So, that is more like 6 hours worth, given that I wasn't crocheting nonstop in the car - the boys and DH kept me busy too.

I find crocheting is like chewing gum for my brain....calming repetitive meditation .I also much prefer 8 ply and I think this stylecraft yarn has such a beautiful drape when it's worked up I have been making Lucy's one with log cabin squares but I have decided I really prefer working rows. She has posted her finished cupcake colour way blanket on Facebook today...so pretty...delicious in fact!

The whole thing including postage ended up being $55 Au. I was about to ask how much. I think that's pretty reasonable. Might have to go take another look at her store. I have just about finished a mermaid throw. I'll take photos when I've completely finished - only needs an edge and the tail sewn on. I think it turned out really well, but I don't know if I'd make another!

I was about to ask how much. I think that's pretty reasonable I think so too, especially as I couldn't find anything comparable here. We seem to either have the really expensive wool and wool blends or the really cheap & nasty acrylics in really boring (or horrible bright) colours from Spotlight or Lincraft. Also these are bigger balls, the 8ply yarn I bought at Spotlight for my current blanket is 230 metres and the Stylecraft Special DK (also 8ply) is 320 metres, so you actually get more yarn. I couldn't seem to find any 'mid range' acrylics in a nice selection of colours here at all. Some of the wools are stunning, but as I posted already, I don't want to make a $400 blanket. I saw some I liked at Morris & Sons...$33 a skein!! The Wool Warehouse Attic 24 packs cheaper than buying the balls individually. The cosy pack is 15 balls for $44.00 Au which is roughly $2.95 a ball whereas buying each ball separately works out to $3.20 each. Only a little difference, but as I liked the colors I thought I may as well buy that as a base and then add a few extra single balls. So 18 balls all still fitted into the cheapest postage of about $9-10 au.

So, I'm a little over halfway done with my Cosy Blanket: And I simply can't wait for Frida's Flowers to start on Tuesday. My next eye surgeries are on April 20th, so I don't know which project will come with me to Michigan. It all depends on how quickly I am able to do the blocks for Frida - I think there is one clue only every 2 weeks.

Elaine, I love your blanket. I think that I'll do a few smaller projects after I finish my ripple blanket and the cosy stripe will be my next big project.
