My mom buys me mine in the 4pc place settings. I have sunflower, lemongrass and tangerine. Serving pieces in turquoise and flamingo. My colors are the same minus the flamingo...funny part is i've thought about adding the flamingo! I bought mine in place settings because the pricing was best that way. Beware that places like Macy's and Kohl's place settings are different. The mug style is different as well as some of the plate sizes I think. I bought individual pieces to add on through the open stock. Have fun, love my fiestaware. BTW Happy Birthday!!

I just wanted to add that I was hoping the new color for this year would be a pastel. I like to decorate my table for the holidays and like using pastels for Easter. I used sunflower and turquoise this, but was hoping for a third color to add to my table next year. Ahh, maybe next year.

I have sunflower, lapis, lemongrass, plum and turquoise, two settings of each. I'm going to add more, and probably different colors. I like this variety and think it's so happy and fun. I have my eye on flamingo, cobalt blue and ivory.

I also like to get the 4 piece set at Macy's or Kohls...it seems the cups are a different size between the two stores, one has a mug, the other more of a teacup. I also buy salad plates. Our family tends to use them even more than dinner plates.
I have so many colors...could not list. (Gotta check out Poppy) Opening my cabinet makes me happy, happy, happy
Funny, my dd (27 years old) and dgd (5 years old) have a li'l 'rivalry' to see who gets flamingo at family dinners. Good thing I have 2 sets! And dd will only eat off the flamingo or turquoise even when it is 'just us'.

I prefer to buy my Fiestaware by individual piece. I don't like the cups that come in the sets. We also have a galley kitchen so I only like to buy what I'll use. My kitchen is yellow with dark blue accents so I got yellow sunflower and sapphire cobalt as my two colors with the orange/red as an accent. I prefer the look of most food in the sapphire cobalt dishes than the yellow. I like the look of spaghetti on my sapphire cobalt plates better than my yellow plates - odd I know Ds and DIL brought me a box of mix and match colors and I LOVE having more colors. I'm very conservative so it was fun opening this box and pulling out lime green and orange along with the yellow and blue that I already have. It's fun pulling out a different color dish depending on what food I'm putting in it. One of my favorite pieces is my oval serving platter. It has small sides on it it's just a great versatile piece.

We can't buy Fiestaware here in Canada I could order it online but I just buy it when we visit the USA every summer ... So far I have 12 4-piece place settings in a combination of cobalt, turquoise and sunflower ... I also have 12 appetizer plates in the same colours and this year I've gotten a spoon rest and 4 Gusto bowls It's a serious addiction

I might have to jump on this bandwagon. I like how heavy they are

I like buying them separately because I do not like the size of the coffee cup that comes in the sets. I also find Macy's has sales for buy one get one free on individual pieces. I have 6 colors (2 each) for my colors. brown, 2 blues, yellow, green, orange. I have a few serving pieces with red too. Have fun. I have had them for 2 years now and they still look great We really don't have room in our kitchen to stack fiestaware in the cabinets as to is so much thicker than our current dishes. But I love all the colors so much that I bought a bunch of the mugs in a wide range of colors. The ones with the real handle not the silly finger loop mugs that come with the sets. I like cobalt lemongrass and eggplant best but all the bright colors are great. I second Macys for sales

So many choices! We were at Dillards today so I went up to look at what they had. Kohls has a good deal on sets right now, but I'm not sure how much I like the sets. The dinner plates are obviously fine, and the bowls are ok, albeit a bit on the smaller side. But the smaller plates were more like bread/butter or dessert plates, cups/saucers (or even mugs) will serve little use to us so I don't know if it's worth it to get the sets Dh's plan was to get 8 place settings, 4 of which he wants in Lapis. WTH is with this man and dishes At least lapis is an ok color (though I prefer peacock), now I just have to coordinate with it. I was thinking maybe poppy, lemongrass and...... I don't know

You mentioned your DH and DS are big eaters. Have you seen the dinnerware in person? The dinner and salad plates are a little on the small side. The gusto bowls are awesome!
My favorites are: poppy, sunflower, lemongrass and lapis. They are the brightes happiest colors, IMO.
The 5 place settings versus the 4 place? The 5 place setting has a teacup and saucer, the 4 place is more like a mug with no saucer....however the finger hole is kind of small.

If you want to further your addiction, there is a lovely group of collectors on facebook. Very helpful for when buying P86 (pre 1986) Fiesta (aka vintage).
I'm on a search for a vintage syrup dispenser! $$$$

Methinks Lovetodigi and I share a Fiestaware brain. Yes, buy a few place setting of two colors and then start buying open stock - or just go open stock. (Bonus: you can experiment with how many colors you want to mix.) And mixing patterned dishes with Fiesta can look fab. We like the small platter and the jumbo cup for the same things Lovetodigi does. We also like the medium platter in place of a dinner plate. Both platters have upturned sides, so great for containing food and holding plate on your lap. We like the larger rice bowl (Dillard's exclusive), and the smaller version of the stupid place setting bowl . And I'm a complete sucker for the individual casserole (sandwich, baked potato, corn on the cob). Not a fan of the gusto bowl (big, but heavy and ungainly), but it gets a lot of love here. Always buy on sale. I prefer to buy at the store, so I can check the glaze and "ringage."

I'm on a search for a vintage syrup dispenser! $$$$ There're several Fiesta FB groups. Among collectors and on eBay, "P86" means Post 86, though, and "Vintage" is used for the dishes/colors manufactured in the 1930s-1950s. The problem is there are constantly eBay and Craigslist sellers who misidentify the age of pieces. Lorieann, I have a lot of Vintage, but not a syrup. You never know when you're going to stumble on something, though. I got a vintage sugar bowl for $3 cause I was walking through a street flea market in New York City and spied it on a table. Good luck!

I love to use the individual casserole dish for cranberry sauce! Everything looks good in that piece, doesn't it? Unfortunately, Homer Laughlin is making fewer and fewer pieces with this Art Deco kind of styling. Boo.

Its hard to keep up with all the lingo lol I'm hopjng to find one at a shop. I'm afraid to buy off ebay as people do get fake pieces or pieces with damage. I really hope the convention in 2 years is in San Diego. Really want to go.

Happy belated birthday. I am happy that you are getting what you want. The colors are so pretty. I do like the vibrant ones the best. I am still waiting to start my own collection. I'm sure they'll look great in your kitchen. Enjoy.

The first Fiesta pieces I ever bought were Rose mugs and rimmed soup bowls to go with my Desert Rose dishes. Over the years I have added much more to the collection. I wasn't into buying place settings, and prefer to get 4-6 plates or bowls all in the same color, and mix or match that way. I like the stacking bowl instead of the one that comes with the place settings. For a larger bowl, the Macy's exclusive pasta bowls are nice for salads or pasta. I have at least one piece in just about every color that Fiesta has made.
The current colors are so pretty. You can go on the Homer Laughlin website and they have a "Colorama" section where you can play with color combinations. Enjoy your new dishes!

Most of mine are the 5 piece place settings, but I decided I don't like the cup (too small) and saucer. I prefer the mug, so now get the 4 piece place settings. I have two each of: chocolate, ivory, white, paprika, scarlet, sunflower, lapis, turquoise, shamrock, lemongrass. Actually I have four sets of scarlet, it's my favorite. Have serving pieces in a bunch of different colors. I have some pieces of a winters/snowman pattern (not fiesta) set that I got from kohls a few years ago, and love that I can match my fiesta to those. I also bought a red/green pattern of dinner dishes from Pier 1 that I can also match my fiesta with.
I may need a fiesta intervention if they come out with more irresistable colors!

I get the 4 or 5 piece sets and have 6 colors that make up 12 sets. I don't remember their official names but I have yellow, dark blue, light blue, maroon, purple and orange. Next is green!

I started my collection with a trip to the Fiesta factory seconds room. I got 8 dinner plates (in turquoise, tangerine, marigold, sunflower, lemongrass, & white), luncheon plates (in white), and bowls, salad plates & fruit bowls to match most of the plate colors. I have since ordered a few 5-piece sets in flamingo and gotten some jumbo mugs, large & medium platters, and serving bowls. I live alone so I didn't want to be stuck with multiple mugs/tea cups that were unused which is why I went the factory route. The pieces that I got have no visible flaws and I saved a lot!

I got individual pieces because I was adding to my Pzalfgraff Summer Breeze set as an accent. I got two settings each of shamrock, cobalt, sunflower and I've added Lapis. I got plates, serving pieces, the soup bowls, gusto bowls and cereal bowls. We wouldn't use the mugs. I have salad plates with the Summer Breeze but as I ease that out of here I'll get the salad bowls. I like the two of each of what I got where I can put out matching if I want or mix and match if I want

It's not cheap like the USA but I don't travel to the USA, so this works for me. They will also order any piece you want as they order at least twice a year. I currently have 11 colours, love my cupboard, makes me smile. Also, Call the Kettle Black in Edmonton has some as well.
