Suicide Barrier is ApprovedAnyone that lives or is from the bay area knows that this has been an iconic place to end your life. However, in reading the story, the man who pushed to have this put through has a real personal reason why he wants it to end. Sad story.

Wow I can't believe many of them took the time to put suicide notes in ziplock bags before jumping and people travel to SF just to jump. A net there is very important, surprised it took 4 decades, but also surprised it's going to cost $76 million dollars. Which reminds me there's a movie on netflix called Bridge that I've been wanting to watch about this, just always thought it too sad to do so.

How heartbreaking. I travel to SF every year for a convention in January, and one of my favorite things to do is to go out to the GG Bridge, it is so lovely. I hope this barrier really does help curb the issue.

I didn't know that there was a movie about it? I'll have to check it out. Not that I'm into the gruesomeness of someone committing suicide, I'm just curious what brings people that point and to do it in such a "iconic" way. There sure is a message they are trying to pass on,

It is unfortunate that it took so long, glad they are doing something about it.

it happens on sunny days. I worked right under the bridge and had to take a report from a witness one time..and I know someone who's son jumped off the bridge. my dd knows the guy who wrote the book...I think he worked at her school. I am happy they are doing this and it is worth the money. we are spending 2 billion to replace the road leading to the bridge...this is not that much to spend. they are also going to put in a moveable center barrier...to stop head on crashes.

Will it really stop people from doing it? Will there be a way to jump out of the net? I guess I'm not picturing how it will work. I just think if they are bound and determined they will find another way.
I do love the bridge, it's one of my favorite places on earth. I guess ending it all there is more "romantic" then doing it any other way. It's so sad that so many lives have already been lost this way.
