***Update! Thanks so much for everyone who participated in my survey! I got some really good information and insights into the doll-purchasing and doll-playing world. The website where I posted the surveys, Survey Monkey, only allows 100 free responses (I don't use surveys enough to subscribe), and I filled them up with the Moms of Baby doll surveys. If you are a Mom of little girls 5+ who play with 18" American Girl-type dolls, or are a grandma of little girls, you can still take my survey. Links below. Thanks everyone! The Peas really came through!*** I need your help! As many of you know, I'm a doll and toy designer. I've created several surveys that might help me do a better job in designing dolls for various ages of little girls. This is purely for my own information, and is completely confidential. I have three surveys. You can do more than one survey, and you can do it more than once if you have multiple daughters or granddaughters. There are only 10 questions per survey, so it won't take long. Feel free to pass this along to any other moms you know. I appreciate your help! Feel free to comment on this thread if you have any suggestions, gripes, or opinions about dolls in general. I'd love to know your thoughts! The first is for moms of little girls under five who play with baby dolls. (This one is filled already, thanks!)The second is for moms of girls between five and ten who play with 18" dolls, like American Girl dolls. The last is for grandmas of little girls under the age of ten, who buy dolls for their granddaughters.

Did it. I have two that fit your 2nd category so I thought of both of them as I answered. It is accessories all the way for both.

Done! I answered for both the mom ones since dd turns 5 tomorrow and has both AG dolls and baby dolls. She is actually getting a new AG doll tomorrow (that I bought on sale a year and a half ago) and then when her new baby brother arrives (any day now - I'm due Sunday) he is "giving" her a girl bitty baby since she is having a hard time that she is getting another baby brother rather than the baby sister she asked for.
To add for the clothing - her favorite is when I make stuff for her and her doll that match. But she loves anything that she can get on and off herself (my preference too!).

Done!
I mentioned Baby Tender Love as a reference, and after looking it up I meant the Baby NEWBORN Tender Love. She was a nice size and not scary looking. One thing I should have put in the survey was that not all baby dolls need to be blonde. Babies do come with brown or red hair. I don't think it is easy to find non caucasian dollys either, that would be a nice thing to change. I know I found an Asian baby doll for my niece, but that was no easy feat. She is,a,lovely dolly though.

I am a mom of a teenager, but if you are designing a new doll. Maybe this will help.
We never bought her a big doll, because she wanted one that looked like her. You see she has GERD and never had baby fat. She wanted a doll with a "skinny" face, and slender thighs and upper arms). And fine hair.
And bendy

Bummer, my almost 6 year old doesn't fit in any of the categories because she hasn't ever played with baby dolls (although she has a couple of them, she never chooses them to play with), and she doesn't have AG type dolls either because she has never shown an interest.
The dolls she likes and plays with often are the small MagiClip Princess dolls, similar sized Glitter Glider dolls, and some Barbie-sized Disney princess dolls. She doesn't play with the larger dolls often though because the dollhouse castle she has doesn't have any furniture for it so it's not very fun to her.
The dolls I recently saw and thought were very cute are the newer Little Kingdom dolls. They're a similar size to the MagiClip/Glitter Gliders but they have softer, younger looking features and interchangeable accessory pieces. She's getting a set of those from the Easter Bunny. I like that they're small which makes them more portable for taking to our cabin, etc. The tricky thing is that they have a lot of tiny accessories that are easy to lose if kids aren't careful.

I haven't taken the survey yet (I will be, as a mom of a couple girls), but... Can I take the survey for my son who does like playing with baby dolls, or is this a girl only survey?

I did the grandmother survey. It's funny-I started my 1st granddaughter with AG dolls. I bought 2 of them for 2 Christmases. She had no interest and still doesn't at age 7- a big tomboy! Now her little sister is completely different!

I'm an American girl buying aunt so I took it. It didn't let me take it twice, once for each little girl I buy for. I'll have to try again tomorrow. They both fall into the 5-10 age range, and I'm using an Apple device.

I wondered if YOU or anyone you know designed the toys featured here. www.etsy.com/shop/PatentPrints?section_id=13495528&ref=shopsection_leftnav_6

I admit, I kept looking for my own drawings but didn't see any. It was fun to see some of my friends listed on the patent drawings. I've been in this business a long time! (Care Bears, Fisher-Price playhouse, Hasbro kitchen, F-P car, etc)

They did say in the "policies" section that can suggest patent and prints... maybe you can suggest one of yours? . They have designs for every interest/career imaginable. I cracked up when I saw the K-cup one!! I have at least four I want to order as shirts for gifts for some men in my life...

I'm not even sure patents were applied for...I'll have to do a search! It's a fun idea though. I have a lot of my original designs, I suppose I could create my own!
