I checked 'use my purse stash' because when I did have a job outside my home, I had a good purse stash and it would get me thru the day. I actually used to purposely buy stuff at department stores when the free gift was small versions of cosmetics so I could keep those itty bitties in my make-up bag and it wouldn't end up being the size of a bowling bag.
Now that I'm home most of the time, I don't really have a purse stash, so I would go back. It's one thing to walk around my house looking like a corpse, but the outside world does not need to be frightened by my naked face.

I am ok with looking sick...you never know they might send you home!!! All honesty as long as I have mascara I am ok, not ideal but ok.

I would have done what you did. But then I also have a make-up case at my desk. I put some of my older or almost used up make-up items in it. That way it's there if I forget, need to refresh or have evening plans.

When I worked in an office, I would have turned around and gone home, assuming I didn't have anything on my schedule first thing. I would turn around and go back. I don't keep anything makeup-wise in my purse except a lip gloss and emery board. And there's NO way I'd share makeup with someone at work.

I've done it a few times and just go to work anyway. I don't wear a lot of makeup so I'm not sure anyone would notice too much difference.

If you normally wear makeup how did you just forget today? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I won't step out of the house without makeup so I can't see myself forgetting to apply it. But if I did, I would turn around and go home. There is no way I would sit through a whole day with no makeup. But I am salary and can come and go whenever I want so being late is no big thing for me.

I work 5 minutes from home. I would have gone home to do it.

I would have stopped at the closest drug store and bought some makeup to keep in my desk!! I have learned the hard way to always have a trial size deodarent in my desk drawer too!

So far never had this situation pop up, but if it did, I'd go home quickly. Just like I could never go to work without a bra. My girls are way to large to not restrain them. Everyone elses eyes would be popping out!

Not what you asked but if you do increase your stash I recently purchased the Loreal True Match Cushion and think it's great. I have blue undertones and hard to match but did it on the first try with "classic buff".

You forgot: "Stop and purchase make up" as an option.
I was much further down the road when I realized I had forgotten to apply make up----So, I pulled into a drug store and got something to wear. I was meeting a client about 45 minutes drive from home and was about 20 minutes into the drive when I realized my routine had been interrupted so I was "bare faced." I don't go out without make up, so............

I don't have a "purse stash" of makeup other than lipstick and powder, but I probably would have just gone on to work and let the kids think I was sick. I work five minutes from home, but don't have the flexibility of schedule to just show up late because I had to go back for makeup.

I would buy mascara along the way to work, in that scenario.

If I was only 2 minutes from home I would have gone back home, grabbed my make up and put it on in the car, and blamed being a bit late on the traffic.
If I absolutely HAD to be at work on time then I would have used my stash in my bag.
If I was too far from home and didn't have a stash, I would have stopped off at a pharmacy to buy the essentials (which for me would be foundation and mascara).

I don't typically wear makeup so I answered that I'd go looking ill. LOL It wouldn't be a big deal if I didn't wear makeup. My skin is SO sensitive that if I wear full face makeup, the few days that follow are horrendous for my skin. It gets reds and blotchy and I get these little pimples/bumps that aren't pleasant. I haven't worn full face makeup in probably 5 years. Typically if I wear makeup, it's just eye shadow, liner, mascara and lip gloss.

I do not wear makeup on a daily basis and I certainly do not look ill.

It would depend on the job. My previous job was at a mine. I always wear makeup but a day without there would have made no difference.
At an office job I would probably keep a stash in my desk and do a quick application when I got there.

Well what a timely thread! I did foundation this morning then went to make my smoothie. The lid wasn't on tight so I spent too much time cleaning that up so this thread just made me realize I didn't go back and finish my make-up. Oh well -

I would have gone to work. I'm the only girl in my department, I doubt the guys would notice I wasn't wearing make up. I wouldn't turn around because that would add extra time onto my work day since I'm hourly, and I would rather get out of work sooner than have make up on.

I would have gone back. My office is very flexible, and I typically beat the other 4 in my department to work by a good 10-15 minutes. I doubt anyone would have even noticed I arrived late.

My makeup is a powder foundation, mascara, eyeliner, and lipstick. I keep it all in a small makeup bag in my purse. Some days I manage to do it before I leave home, but honestly I put it on in the parking garage most days. I guess I don't try too hard - it takes like 3 minutes.

I keep a makeup bag in my desk in case we have an evening event I need to touch up for, so I would apply it when I arrived at work. If I wasn't heading to work, I would have been screwed!

I don't keep a purse stash and I usually time my departure to the minute, so I would have gone on and been makeup free for the day.
My makeup routine is not one that I can do taking quick short cuts, i.e. I would need a whole set including eyeshadow primer, liner and shadow, mascara etc. I'm pretty picky about the colors I use too so I would be buying duplicates of everything I own.
