I am at a loss on this, and I've exhausted all the Google skills I have.
My parents are continually getting phone calls at all hours of the night and day from one particular phone number. The phone will ring once, then a few hours later it happens again. Usually they get 3-5 calls a day from this company, mostly between 1 and 5 am.
On their caller ID, the caller shows up as "Amplify Education" and the phone number listed is 011919794640377. I'm sure this is probably spoofed, but no way to prove it.
My parents have tried blocking the number through the phone company, through their u-verse, and have filed complaints with the FCC. Nothing has stopped the calls so far. My dad spoke with someone at Amplify Education today and they are supposed to look into it, but I really doubt anything will come of it.
Do the peas have any ideas on how to get these calls to stop?

That would be very annoying. I'm not sure. I have U-verse and am constantly adding numbers to my blocked list-it works for me.

Are they on any No-Call lists? Either state or federal? If so, they can report it to the proper complaint line. Even if they once did business with these people, they have now informed them to stop calling. If they continue to do so they can be reported to the Attorney General's office in some places. And if they aren't on the lists, get them on there and let it take effect.

Yikes. I wish I knew something that would help. We are on the do not call and still get multiple crap/solicitation calls a day. I pretty much never answer our house phone.

That looks like a cell number in India. 91 is the country code for India. I am guessing it's a tele marketing call.

But as someone else pointed out it looks like it comes from India and nothing works to stop them. Believe me my husband talked to all levels of police and the do not call people. And the OP said blocking the call did not work. Although it is strange that they call during the night, the Indians are usually aware of the time difference.

Starting at the simplest level, are they able to block numbers on the actual phone itself? I know cell phones can and our cordless house phones can also. I really enjoy adding numbers on the house phone to block.

Do they also have cell phones? Could they just turn the ringer off their landline at night? And if there's an emergency during the night you can reach them on their cell. I haven't had a landline in about 12 years. My house is super peaceful

The phone rings, caller ID announces some random location, husband looks at me like I know what it's about. No, dear, I do not know who it is. It's a telemarketer. No matter how many times I've told him 'Yes, we're on the do not call list.', he still looks at me like I should know. <sigh> For a while, he thought it was collection agencies, but I told him that those people don't just hang up. When you owe them money, they're leaving a message, lol. I actually came to the thread, hoping to get an idea how to stop this aggravation. Thanx for the idea & link, anniebygaslight & BeckyTech ! And good luck w/your parents' problem, BeckyTech!

I wish I had an answer for you!
We ended up getting rid of our landline a few months ago. We'd had the same number for over 25 years, but it was the only way to guarantee stopping the damned telemarketers.

Filing a complaint with the AG is a good idea too.

I really enjoy adding numbers on the house phone to block. I will have them check their cordless phone. The problem is they still have an old corded phone that I know won't block numbers.

I haven't had a landline in about 12 years. My house is super peaceful I thought about that, but they are both very hard of hearing and often don't hear their cell phones. Their home phone is one of those extra super loud ones so they hear that one, lol! And my mom especially feels more secure knowing that the landline is more reliable than cell service in case of tornados or ice storms.

Oh my goodness, this might be perfect! I showed it to my dad and he's very interested in getting one of these! From what I have read on amazon, it should work with VOIP phone service as well. Thanks for the recommendation! I had no idea there was such a thing!

If you have VOIP phone service through a cable company or U-verse, you might want to look into NoMoRobo.com
It has made a tremendous difference for me far beyond the DoNotCall list. Once you sign up, the phone rings only once for robo calls. Regular calls keeps ringing as usual. Unfortunately I still get political calls because I am registered with a party, but I rarely get telemarketing calls.
ETA: Utpea posted as I was typing my post. I forgot to mention NoMoRobo is free AND it is highly rated in the Consumer Reports link that she posted.

Well, a free product would be fabulous! But unfortunately, the calls they've been getting only ring once anyway so NoMoRobo doesn't sound like it would solve their problem. Thanks for the suggestion though! It's always helpful to hear someone else's experience with a product.

I would either turn off the ringer at night or just unplug the phone from the wall. That would drive me NUTS, especially in the middle of the night.
