Good morning ladies! I hope everyone's doing well! I was SO tired last night and ended up in bed way before my normal bedtime. And I slept until 4:15 without waking, which is pretty unusual for me. I'd like to say I woke up completely refreshed but that damned 5am alarm clock didn't make that possible. LOL No workout yesterday but I'm already dressed in my workout gear to get it done this morning. I want to add some arm exercises in in hopes of maybe shrinking my arms just enough that they'll fit a bit more comfortably in long sleeved shirts. Not sure it'll help since most of my problem is the excess skin...but I'm going to give it a shot. Lots on my agenda again today. Workout, LOTS of housework, laundry, housework, housework, housework and laundry. What's everyone's plans for Easter? And are you going to allow yourself a cheat day or sticking to plan? I've mentioned before that we're heading to the Cheesecake Factory and I plan to eat whatever I want. I also have a single Cadbury Caramel Egg that I'll have. Typically we have bags and bags of candy and I eat lots. This year, I'm taking a bit different approach. I'm going to have my Cadbury Egg and then hope to steer clear of the rest of the Easter loot. DH have plans on sharing a meal at the Cheesecake Factory and splitting a piece of cheesecake there. We've also decided to get another piece to bring home to split. But then right back on track on Monday. I hope everyone has a fantastic day!!

Good morning! I was super tired last night as well but wasn't able to get to sleep much earlier than usual. Not sure why I have been so tired lately.
We are going to Iowa tomorrow to visit family for Easter. My stepmom is having dinner tomorrow night. I plan to take healthy snacks and eat light on the way. Saturday we will be at my moms. Sometimes we go out to eat so I will have to just try to do my best for the weekend. I am finally back to 149 after being up after the weekend so I don't want to undo the rest of the week.
I have had three good days of sticking to my meal plan and exercising. Yay!

Good morning all! I didn't get a chance to come back last night, I just took a shower and passed out in my comfy bed. I took the day off of work today and I am so glad, I am SO sore after my back packing trip. My husband and I along with 8 other people hiked to the base of the Grand Canyon (to Phantom Ranch if you are familiar) in one day. My Fitbit said it was about 10 miles, but I will shave off a mile since I wore it all morning before we got on the trail.
Unfortunately my shoes were a little loose and the constant downward motion (seriously I never want to go down a flight of stairs for as long as I live) left me with two black toe nails. I spent the rest of the trip carefully wrapping my toes each morning and I will certainly lose both of them. I also took a spill on my way down the canyon and have a nice chunk of road rash and a bruise on my left knee. Luckily one of the guys in the group was right behind me to help me get my 30 pound pack off and tend to my wounds.
On Tuesday and Wednesday we made our way back up the canyon. Tuesday we spent the night at Indian Gardens and Wednesday afternoon I finally made those final steps out of the canyon. It was a wonderful feeling, despite being sore on every inch of my body! As I predicted the food was no good health wise, but on those kinds of trips you need to load up on calories to give your body fuel. It is back to normal today as long as I can manage to hobble to the grocery store!
Grocery store and laundry are what's on my agenda today and I'll be spending the rest of the week and weekend being pretty lazy. No Easter plans here, it will just be my husband and I and neither of us are particularly religious.

Morning everyone! First day of Spring Break and wouldn't you know it--I woke up before my 5 a.m. alarm! I was not impressed (I had the alarm set so I could get dh up for work). Got my one son in early for his allergy shot. I have an appointment this morning at 11:30 and then I'm taking my ballerina for new flat shoes, jazz shoes, and a new leotard...and then I'm praying we can find her an appropriate pair of shoes for her Confirmation. She's so used to balancing on her toes, she immediately goes for the highest, most precarious looking heels she can find. We will hopefully come to some compromise because she really does need some dressy shoes and I have no patience for the crazy shoes she likes. After I drop my daughter off to her jazz class today, I plan to walk while waiting for the class to end. I have 1.5 hours to wait, so I should be able to get some good distance in! Had my morning snack--1/4 cup low-fat ricotta with blackberries and raspberries. I'm currently eating my breakfast after getting back from the allergy appointment--1/2 cup Greek yogurt, 1/3 cup Kashi cereal, 1/2 cup mixed frozen berries and 1 tbsp slivered almonds....and COFFEE! I'm so stinking tired! No big plans for Easter--it will just be us. I'll finally be done with my Lenten resolution to give up all added sugar and I'm not sure if I'll dive right in and have chocolate/candy or if I'll just keep to a very low sugar diet from now on. I feel great, I really don't crave it very much. I do have a time or two during the month that I feel like I could go for something sweet, but not enough to cave. Still deciding. We'll do ham, potatoes in some form, asparagus and probably a salad for Easter dinner. I might make a berry dessert or a carrot cake. Still thinking about it. We're really not big dessert people, but I do generally make a dessert for holidays. Have a great day, everyone!

Hey everyone! Easter is at my house, but on Saturday. We are doing the "usual" Easter meal, but I don't make too many side dishes - just mashed potatoes and creamed corn. Nothing that would be considered healthy, but I'll take portion control into consideration when I indulge ;-) Saturday is also my 10K graduation race! I am starting to set out my gear in anticipation for the big day Yesterday I rode my bike (first time outside riding in YEARS) and only went a few miles, because I didn't have a lot of time. Went to yoga class last night. Tonight is the first night of tri-training with the group - we will run for tonight's workout. I'm going to swim at the gym before the group workout; going there right after work. You should see how I packed for my day! It's nice outside now temperature-wise, but raining, and the temperature is going to drop throughout the day, to the high 30s/low 40s by the time I run tonight. Gotta love this time of year! Tomorrow is a REST DAY! Enjoy the day

padresfan619 , that sounds positively GRUELING! It sounds like you're glad that you did it, though. brandy327 , you have exercise equipment in your basement, as I recall. Do you watch TV or read while using the equipment? I got home early yesterday after having my teeth cleaned, so I walked at 4:30 pm instead of 6ish. My left hip was bugging me a lot, and I thought, "I'll go to the chiropractor since it's still open!" The hip issue was really bothering me, and we talked about measuring me for a lift/shoe insert, because my left leg is longer. He x-rayed me, and my left leg is actually NOT longer, as I (and the chiro) had thought for years. Rather, my pelvis is twisted. He sheepishly recommended a series of adjustments. He's the chiro who NEVER tries to talk you into a 'program', but rather says 'come in when you need me'. My hip hurt all night long. I SO, SO feel for people with chronic pain! I'm whining after ONE night. I feel better this morning, but am still sore. I really think my walking is what's aggravating the issue, and hope to have a good resolution. I've really been enjoying the process of getting more fit. On the plus side, I've been below my calorie goals the last few days, and when I look down, I can tell my belly is less round.

Sharla, it was a real test of my physical and mental strength. On the last day early on in the hike I had a couple of meltdowns because I didn't think I could finish. It is so intimidating to look up at the top of the canyon when you are still 3,000 feet below. I am glad I finished, but in a week I won't be looking back longing for the experience like I do on my more leisurely camping trips.

sharlag glad you posted about your hip, but sorry you're in pain - it sucks! I am having pain almost constantly and need to make an appt today about that same issue. Are you going to go back for the adjustments? Had a good day yesterday, and am starting today off a little sore, but think I am sitting too much. I'm going to use my standing desk today and limit time on my butt. And call the doctor. Walking this evening and maybe some yoga. Tomorrow is a holiday for work, I didn't realize (work from home = not sure why no one answers at the office, then realize it's a holiday, ha!). We are going to see Loreena McKennitt in concert and then have lunch with a friend this weekend, do a yoga class with my favorite teacher and get in some walks.

We are having Easter at our house. The kids have an overflowing of candy for their baskets - I don't feel confident in my will power to even sneak a little bit. I worry once I start I won't stop so my plan is to not start at all.
I have hit 10,000 consistently for the past week. I'm happy with that and every day it gets easier and easier. We are noticing our dog is loosing weight since our nightly walks are getting longer. It's a win/win for she and I.

My treadmill is really old and doesn't have a display. I have no idea how fast I am walking (I have short legs, too) but I figured one day that it takes me about 8 min to walk 1000 steps. I mostly walk but do jog for a minute every once in awhile to get the steps and my heart rate up.

Easter will be a wash for me probably.
Day off from gym. Still trying to eat more protein. Publix has Bolthouse Farms BOGO and oh my goodness- Vanilla Chai Tea is going to be my downfall. I only drank half at lunch, but it has 26g of sugar. At least it does have 7g of protein. I did buy a Vanilla Bean Protein Plus with 30 g of protein- will see how that one tastes- it has less sugar.

Sorry about the hip! I can empathize. I have issues with my right hip frequently. I attribute mine to arthritis though. It seems to get more aggravated when I'm walking outdoors, rather than inside on the treadmill. Same goes for my knees. I have a tv down there but I never turn it on. LOL I read on my phone. I have a Note5, which has a pretty big screen to begin with and then I enlarge the font a bit. I can read while I'm using the elliptical, the bike OR the treadmill. It's how I can manage an hour or more and not give it too much thought.

I would be happy to share some pictures! These ones are just from my phone. My husband takes much better photos than I do on his nice camera, but that crazy guy went to work today. I'll be sure to update with better photos once he has a chance to get them off his camera. These are just some of the switchbacks on the way down. We also had similar ones on the way up, but luckily it was mostly cool and shaded when we were going up. I still really struggled and had to take breaks after every two or three going up. Going down is "easy" stamina wise, but it is really difficult to find a natural stride when you have 30 pounds strapped to your back. I went to REI to be personally fitted for my pack and I am forever grateful for the man who took the time to fit me, I wasn't bothered by the added weight as much as I thought I would be, physically. But it does a number mentally. This is Silver Bridge that goes over the Colorado river. We had to walk across that to get to the trail to go back up the first day we started making our way out of the canyon. That's my husband making his way down! We were just able to start seeing the Colorado river at this point but we still had a ways to go. This was about 20 minutes before I ate it .

Woke up to am ice storm this morning - I kept the kids home (a nice 5-day weekend for them) and I spent the day working on my laptop. I literally didn't move from the couch.
I'm working tomorrow, even though it's a stat holiday, but I told my boss that I won't be in until after my workout (the gym doesn't open until 7). I think I'm going to work arms in the morning and stop back in in the afternoon for a leg workout.

@iovebuble, those pictures are stunning! What an adventure! I hope you recover quickly. sharlag, an out of whack pelvis is no fun. Hoping your chiro can work it back into place soon! Technically it was a rest day for me, but DD and I went to Sea World so I definitely got in plenty of walking. She's finally tall enough to ride the "big" coasters so we rode both Manta and Kraken. She did great! I picked up DD from her dad and he let me borrow her Sea World pass he had for her (I already get in free) then told me he wished he could go with us to ride Manta with DD too, but he's fairly certain he's too big to fit in the seat. He's always struggled with his weight and it's just increased over the years. I'm not sure what to think, honestly. He's not healthy and he knows it, but hasn't seemed to care about it much. Maybe this will be something to motivate him? Don't get me wrong, he can be a total pain in my butt, but I also don't need my DD to lose her dad at an early age either. I'm having a hard time pinpointing why the conversation was almost upsetting to me, honestly. On the way home we met up with a dear friend for a late lunch/early dinner at Applebee's, which is not my favorite place but it was ok. I ate a side salad and half a maple chicken wrap, along with some fries. Not the best food wise but not too horrible either. On Easter we'll be going to church and to a friend's house. Historically she doesn't have much for fresh fruits/veggies (just what's reheated from a can, which isn't my thing) so I offered to bring a fresh salad. Probably spinach-based with some kind of springy dressing. I mindfully am staying away from Cadbury candy this year. 1. They are always, always a trigger 2. I'm doing enough damage with M&M eggs. I did buy a creme egg for DD's basket but stayed away from the mini-eggs (aka gateway drug). Ha! Guess I had a lot to say today. Thanks if you stuck through it to the end.

I ate all the food today and more! Like seriously ate a ton. B- 1 scrambled whole egg plus egg white, 3 turkey sausage links B#2- I took the kids through McDonalds and got myself an oatmeal. Who knew it was 290 calories. L- turkey and Swiss on a sandwich thin, apple, 2 cuties, carrots, and sugar snap peas My snacky demise... 1/2 cup homemade peach cobbler, 1 inch by 1 inch square of homemade chocolate eclair, hershey kiss, 1 papa johns cheese bread slice, 1 chocolate chip cookie, 1 snicker doodle cookie D - 1 sliced and roasted sweet potato, 1 lite hamburger bun, lite sloppy joe made with 90/10 beef Holy crap! It was a bad day. I have seriously not ate like this in so long. We are on spring break starting tomorrow. As soon as we get back from NYC I am cleaning this eating right up. I am thinking that with my increased running I am needing something more. Just no sure what I need more of...1800 calories a day is my max. I run 4 times, 2 cardio sessions, and 5-6 weight training sessions a week. Any suggestions?

Treadmill is the last thing I do so I must already be in the groove of flipping the pages and it's not even something I think about. I've been reading on the treadmill for quite a while now so it's just second nature to read and walk.

Oh my dear Lord am I PMSing in a BIG way. I had to go out and pick up some more candy for the kids' Easter baskets today. I'm not sure if it was out of habit or the fact that I've been having some serious cravings for junk food but I bought a Reece's PB Egg and a Snickers Egg for myself. I haven't eaten them...just put them away. I have NO idea what I'm going to do with them. I want them...in the worst way. But I really wanted to stick to just my meal at the Cheesecake Factory, the cheesecake and my Cadbury Caramel Egg. I've had another busy day getting the house cleaned up, laundry done, etc. I've almost hit 10,000 steps today. I just recently set my step goal to 5000 because I was NEVER hitting 10K. Now in the last week or two, I've hit it like 4 or 5 times. LOL I think I'm going to up it to 7500. I think that'll be a bit more accurate. I've been hungry ALL day...and like TankTop I want to eat ALL the foods! I've managed to keep it wrangled in for the most part but the want to eat, eat, eat is STILL hanging around!!

I have GREAT news about my follow up mammogram- it was just a fold in the breast tissue. They took several views of the problem area & took an ultrasound but couldn't find anything. I feel confident that they were being cautious and I'm due back in twelve months. YEAH!!
I didn't have a good nights sleep last night, but I managed to get up and do 60 minutes on the bike before my shower. I love to watch tv while I walk on the treadmill or ride the bike. I can't read but sometimes I will listen to a podcast. There are certain shows I love to watch while I'm working out vs. just watching tv. Lol.
We are having a very quiet Easter at home, but I am making a special treat- fresh pasta with cream sauce, ham and peas. I can't remember the last time I made it! I bought jelly beans for my husband b/c I'm not even a little bit tempted by them.
I am tempted by the yummiest hot cross buns I purchased at Great Harvest Bread. I buy my whole wheat bread there and even though hot cross buns were not a tradition on Good Friday for me growing up, I saw them one year on Pioneer Woman and got curious. They are a raisin (or other dried fruit) yeast roll. If I made them from scratch, I would be so tired I'd have to take to my bed for a week (I am NO baker) so I just buy them. But I only bought three, so I can't do much damage. The ones I bought are a little bigger than dinner rolls.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a huge relief!! SO glad to hear it was nothing! And ooooooh bread. I don't buy any type of fresh bread because no one in this house can control themselves when it comes to fresh bread. LOL I've bought fresh bread exactly once in the last 3 months. It was a small loaf of Parisian Whole Wheat. It was SO good.
