My friend and I completed our first 5K last September. We met all our goals and felt pretty darn accomplished at the end. We knew we would want to do more, especially this spring. We pretty much knew what our first one would be which is now set for April 30th. We haven't registered yet but will likely do so in the next week.
Today I discovered that one of my favorite horse rescues here does a 5K in May....this year set for May 7th. So one week after our first one.
Is it too much to try and do 2 5K's a week apart?

I don't think so. Last year when I trained for a half marathon the program I used had me running 3+ miles three times a week with a long run on the weekend.
Most importantly, listen to your body.

A 5K is only 3 miles, no need to worry about spacing. When I run outside I'm a slow runner and typically run 5 miles.

I don't think it's too much. Just listen to your body and allow yourself to walk parts of the course if you need to. Walk or run, you're still out there!
I'm actually running my first 5k in a couple of years this weekend. Due to work and school commitments, I haven't been running regularly so I know going into it that I'm probably going to have to walk a bit. It is what it is... I'm still a finisher!
Have fun!

Been on a training plan for a half marathon: This Saturday's long run is 8 miles, next Saturday's is 6 and the following weekend is the Half, so two 5K's should be fine. Good luck!

I think it's fine. I'm not an uber runner but I still run 5K 4-5 days per week.

Running that distance two weekends in a row won't be an issue. Have fun and enjoy!!!

You'll be just fine. I run four or five times per week in the summer and my shortest run will be 3 miles. Good for you for taking up running. I started running just for basic exercise about 10 years ago. This morning I tried out my new pair of running shoes and they are fabulous. Seriously I think I've stuck with running just so I can justify buying cool expensive shoes.
