Good Friday morning ladies!!!! I am SO glad that it's finally Friday. The scale is still doing it's up and down thing but I'm not worried about it. My period is due any day now so I expect it. I bought 2 new pairs of jeans and they came in yesterday. They both fit but one pair that I REALLY wanted to love...they're a blush color, do NOT look good at this point. They're so tight and because of the color, it makes it look like I'm not wearing pants. I'm hopeful that in another 10 lbs that maybe they won't be so bad. Anyway, something I've been wanting to do for a while but wanted to wait until I was down a size is compare the new jeans to the only pair of pants I've kept for 10+ years. The old pair wasn't even the largest size I wore. I wore 2 sizes larger for a year or two. Holding up that old pair of pants, I just couldn't believe that I wore those. Crazy. Today is grocery shopping day. Plus I have a ton of other things to do. DS has a semi-formal dance tonight (his first) and while dressing up isn't required he wanted to. So I need to iron his outfit before I go to pick them up from school. By the time I get back from grocery shopping, I only have an hour so it's going to be a tight schedule today. LOL I need to finish up the laundry today as well. And type up and print out our Easter egg clues. I hope you ladies have a great day!!

Wow, look at the photo, Brandy. Awesome!!!
I was gone 13 1/2 hours yesterday taking my daughter back to Duke Medical Center for many appointments. She got great news yesterday but it was a long day. Thankful to get home late last night! Now today I have to drive to SC to pick up my daughter that had the car accident. It will be another long day on the road and bad eating. Ugh! I so wanted to have a great week but . . . Then when we get home, we have reservations at a nice restaurant since it was our 27th wedding anniversary yesterday. We did not get to celebrate yesterday so we will celebrate tonight. I probably shouldn't eat a thing though. Oh dear. Two bad food days for me. I can already feel the effects from yesterday. Ick!!!

brandy327 WOWZA! WTG girl! What an awesome comparison! Your new pants will fit in no time, I'm sure! Patter Glad to hear your daughter got good news. Hopefully your other daughter is doing better as well. I'm sorry about the two not-so-good days, but it happens. You've had an incredibly stressful week--two days of not 100% eating isn't going to be anything but a drop in the bucket in a few weeks, but it sure stinks right now. Hang in there--it will get better! Today, I've got to get groceries and clean my house. Oh my! It's a bit of a mess! My food will be interesting today as we don't eat meat on Fridays during Lent. This being Good Friday, I'll have to step up my cooking game. I think I'll try to make some salmon....or I'll buy cheese pizzas again. I'll decide when I get to the grocery store! I've really been drained with all the cooking and if I can get away with not doing it, I will! I'm hoping after all the cleaning I can get out for my walk today. We'll see. I've also got to find the Easter stuff and start getting that ready. Have a great day all!

Great job brandy!
I'm currently in between sets at the gym. Trying to see how many bicep curls I can do before my arms fall off.

brandy327 wow! Love the pants picture, that is some awesome progress. Lessons in sugar consumption for me: we had dinner at a local place that makes every single thing from scratch, and they unfortunately had key lime pie. I had a piece, and it made me so tired, I went to bed at 7. The silver lining is that I am now up at 4:30, so I'll be ready for the gym when they open and I even get to have a cup of coffee first. Silly. I have trouble remembering that I reduced my sugar intake to begin with because of energy/blood sugar issues, so having the calories available still doesn't mean it's the best idea to dive into dessert. LOL

brandy327 I am so proud of you! In regards to your arm workout post yesterday, check out the arm workouts at the link I gave you last week for the HIIT. The BBM 6 week mini challenge has 6 different arm routines. I love them. Do one 3 times per week and then move to a new one. They made a huge difference in my arms. Her only rule is to use weights heavier than your purse. Patter I am proud of you as well. I have a feeling I would have ate my weight in Dove chocolate and McDonalds if I was dealing with half of what you are! missfrenchjessica I do not eat fish or seafood of any kind, but I would love to try salmon. Do you have a good way of making it? I think I can buy it from the case at the grocery. Tomorrow we leave for NYC. I need to do my arm workout, take the kids shopping for some last minute items, do some laundry, pack, and hopefully get a run in. I would head out now, but it's dark and cold! If I have time I have a mission.... So, dd decided to change her entire outfit for prom. She wants a specific skirt from Charolette Russe. It is a black tulle ballerina skirt. She found others, but this one is perfect. None of the 5 stores near me, the online store, or the three stores near where dh traveled to this past week have them in stock in her size. Grrrrrrr. I hate wild goose chases like this. She is not going to prom with a date, but will be there to work it. She wants to wear this skirt and a lace crop top tank thingy. It will look so fun and amazing, but she is driving me nuts. Lol!

This will forever annoy me.

Ugh! So close! Two days ago, I noticed that the Fitbit counts 1 step for every 2 strides on the elliptical. I have such a love-hate relationship with that thing.

TankTop For the salmon, I really don't do anything special to it. I season it with salt and pepper and bake it in the oven at 350 for 20 or so minutes? I haven't made it in so long, I can't remember. I put it skin side down and wait for it to get cooked through. I'm not a fancy cook; just simple and as fast as possible.

Congrats Brandy! I hope someday to be able to post a similar photo!
I have been sick for the last week and have not been able to work out once. And my steps for the day have gone from 10,000 plus to a high of 6500... I am hoping I can rest up over the next few days and start off on the right track next week. At least I haven't done too poorly with food. Lots of chicken soup and tons of fluids!

brandy327 what a comparison! Congrats! TankTop, being 4 steps shy would annoy the heck out of me too! Some big storms came through last night and kept me up for a bit watching the radar. Up early this morning to prep for some friends coming over to make/decorate Easter cookies. Best part is most of them will go home with my friends and the rest will go with us to Easter lunch on Sunday. Have a great Friday!

Hey all!
We lost power last night for a few hours - huge ice storm & now heavy winds expected today (Southern Ontario).
And I had a few things yesterday that put me way over calories & carbs - I was in an "I want to eat the bag of chips" mood - DD made guacamole, so I had 4 or 5 lime tortilla chips with it. They weren't all whole chips though. But I counted it as that. And I had a beer and a glass of wine.
Today I have to work all day - two cakes due tomorrow that I need to get finished. Plus I'm on Easter dinner duty for Saturday night. I'll try to avoid the creamy potatoes - but it will be HARD. I think we have a head of cauliflower in the fridge (DH does the shopping so I'm never sure) so I may make a creamy cauliflower substitute for me.
And now what has really put me in the "I don't wanna do this anymore" phase - I've been asked by a golf course to become their dessert square baker. I'm thrilled, the steady business will be awesome. This includes bundt cakes & coffee cakes as well. My square list is short, and they want 15-20 flavours as variety to keep in their freezer and pull from for orders. So I'll be recipe testing. The family is WAY happy to taste test for me. But I wanna do it too!
Damn it - I LOVE food. I KNOW it isn't healthy for me to be over 200+ pounds. I KNOW I can't just eat everything in sight or I will be. And that is not good for the heart history we have in our family (both my Dad & his Dad passed away from heart disease). But damn it all it is HARD. ack

Holding up that old pair of pants, I just couldn't believe that I wore those. Crazy. You're amazing! Well done!!! I was gone 13 1/2 hours yesterday taking my daughter back to Duke Medical Center for many appointments. She got great news yesterday but it was a long day. Thankful to get home late last night! I probably shouldn't eat a thing though. Oh dear. Two bad food days for me. I can already feel the effects from yesterday. Ick!!! (Hugs) You deserve a nice dinner after all that you're going thru. Most annoying thing ever for my anal retentive personality....I fell asleep at 9,996 steps. This will forever annoy me. Oh no! I came back from a really short bike ride the other day, only to discover that my distance was 2.99 miles. I didn't have time to go back and add just that little bit extra Ugh! So close! Two days ago, I noticed that the Fitbit counts 1 step for every 2 strides on the elliptical. I have such a love-hate relationship with that thing. I've discovered that if you log the exercise, Fitbit will adjust steps, depending on the type of exercise. Sooo...no extra steps for a swim, but it adds some steps for a run. I had my first triathlon training last night! It was a group run, but the weather turned miserable - just in time. It was cold, windy and rainy - felt like freezing rain. I only did a short run since I have the race on Saturday. A few of us went to the gym to do some laps in the pool before the run. One person shot video of each of us, which I found to be very helpful. It showed me that I am making progress - woo hoo! I knew what I needed to work on (head position when taking a breath) but seeing it really made an impact. I normally swim at Gold's or the Y and both of them have hair dryers - however, last night I learned that LA Fitness DOES NOT! :-O Oops. I know for next time. At least it was raining out, so dry hair wasn't really necessary. I just pulled it into a bun. (I don't get to dry it for the tri either, so I will consider this practice! LOL) Meeting with the group at the pool made me much more comfortable about my swim skills. There's a lot of other beginners like me in this tri training group so I am glad that I am not the only one. Tomorrow is my first 10K race. I'm excited but nervous. Just checked the weather and it's looking good. Today is a rest day. Need to prep my early Easter dinner, which will be tomorrow. Saturday will be the race and Sunday I plan to bike and hopefully, we can go on our annual Easter hike. I am going to return my Fitbit Alta and keep what I have. I may use that $ towards a new bike. My bike is in good condition, but it doesn't fit me very well, making for a ride that isn't quite as comfortable as it should be. It's a catch-22 - I don't like to ride my bike because it is uncomfortable, so I don't ride much. I don't want to buy a new bike because I don't ride much. :-O Enjoy the weekend and Happy Easter!

I just did the BBM upper body workout (week one since my friend said she wanted to do it with me and then she has flaked out this week--but I used heavier weights and it has been challenging but good). Was going to do lower body as well since I missed it yesterday but the younger two kids are fighting and driving me nuts. The youngest was doing the workout with me but then the 7yo came up and started bothering him and it all went downhill.
We will be leaving for Iowa soon. I want to stop at kohls to see if they have any pants for DS since he has gotten holes in several pair of pants the last few weeks. Ugh. I haven't had much luck finding anything other than shorts even though it is still cool here and will be for awhile.
Packing snacks for the trip (5-6 hrs) but will Probably have to grab food on the road. I've found that in a pinch, a kids chicken nugget meal at McDonald's is only 300 calories so I will probably get that.

@brandy that is an awesome comparison! As for the blush pants...Last year I bought a pair of cream colored jeggings and they looked awful. I have a pair in the same size and style that looked good but the light color just highlighted everything that didn't need to be highlighted. lol. Maybe light colored pants aren't really flattering on anyone but the models? Now that I think a sit it I did have a pair of white denim capris once that I think looked ok until I gained weight but they were a lot thicker than many of the jeans out there now.
Either way, I hope they fit and look good soon but if not, it's about the pants and not you!!

cakediva Congratulations, that's great! I had no idea that restaurant desserts were sometimes (frequently?) frozen - who knew? Probably everyone. STBC Thank you so much, I really appreciate that info! And nice work on races and triathlon training iamkristinl16 That's helpful when you know what you can have in a pinch! I always hope for great healthy options, but sometimes the choices are 7/11 or McDonald's.

cakediva Congratulations, that's great! I had no idea that desserts were sometimes frozen - who knew? What they do is keep them in their freezer so they can pull a variety of squares (brownies, hello dollies, lemon, etc) to make a platter for meetings. All of those kinds of things freeze really well, so I deliver them in containers, they keep them in their freezer, and when they are running low they let me know so I can bring more to keep up their stock!

Skip the dressing and squeeze the lime it comes with over it. If I am really hungry I will get a yogurt parfait to have with it or a side salad and mix it in.

I have been doing weight watchers online the last two weeks and have lost five pounds so far. So happy to be seeing results, and it's been pretty easy to follow. I have had mostly good days but a few slip ups, like last weekend. (Two family dinners and I had dessert at both) I have one question about the program. Does it matter which day I weigh in? I started on a Monday and put that as my weigh in day but I'm finding that Monday doesn't work well for me. Can I just weigh in on a different day and track it? Or do I somehow need to change it in my account? Does it matter?

Back at work for one day and I'm struggling. My right calf is so stiff I can hardly keep up with my usual tasks, so I've been sitting most of the day. That won't help my daily step count goal. Oh well, I more than made up for it earlier this week. I agave the appetite of a horse and want to eat everything in sight. Luckily no one brought donuts this morning!
B - hard boiled egg, string cheese stick, and a few sliced strawberries L - no clue but I'll probably cave and get a burrito. D - Shrimp and roasted veggie tostadas S - Yoplait raspberry yogurt with a 1/4 cup of flaxseed and dried cranberry granola

I don't know if it "officially" matters if you weigh in on a different day but you want to keep as much consistency as possible.
I'm only working 1/2 day today but I have a feeling it's going to be the longest 4 hours of my life. I have only been here 26 minutes and I'm already bored out of my mind. I'm glad I don't have a lot of snacks in my desk cause today would be one of those days I would eat them all.
Target run after work - got to finish the Easter baskets. Hopefully I can get a better run in today - yesterday was tough and I just couldn't get into a good groove. Actually all week as been like that. ugh!

Thanks for encouragement girls. You are TOO sweet! Yep, Dove chocolates have sounded so good but I did settle for brownie last night. Oh dear. Sometimes I don't like when I "blow" a day because I say "heck, I have already blown it, why not have have more junk?" Ugh! Why can't I just blow one meal and then get back on track? Anyone else find it easier to blow a whole day instead of just one meal?
